PURPOSES : The purpose of this system (Rear Lighting System) is to provide illumination for the driver to operate the commercial vehicle safely after dark in highway, to increase the conspicuity of the vehicle, and especially be suggesting the finest observable improvement method, depending on color and pattern of rear lighting system of truck for midnight highway traffic. METHODS : Rear lightning system as an improving way for forward commercial vehicles lighting the securing sight from human factors and the surrounding environment in midnight driving. For this one, basic materials were collected from the data analysis about many types of problems, and filed investigation for establishing Driving Simulator. also taking statistic test to human volunteers after finding recognizable distance of them. RESULTS : As a result, color with the highest visuality is amber followed by green-red-blue as in order for all road types. Especially almost no difference is found between red and green, also when the light is turn off, recognizable distances is wide difference compared to turn on the light. One more thing about study per pattern, upper and entire lighting have similar recognizable distances, but under lighting shows short distance with difficulty securing sight from medians. And straight section shows similar recognizable distances. By finding visuality improvement method depending on color and pattern of supplement taillight, it is expected to suggest quantitative judgement standard for introducing regulation and improvement of supplement taillight. CONCLUSIONS : Night time vehicle conspicuity to the rear is provided by rear position lamps. this study is showed that the color of light ramp is not important to be safe driving, most important is to turn on the light, recognizable distances is big different compared to turn off the rear light, so when the drivng dark in highway, have to turn on the light for reducing risk.
Using a single LC panel and two lighting systems, we have developed an advanced LCD system called "Double-Sided LCD." It has only one LC panel and two lighting systems, but it can display images of the same size and resolution on both the front and the rear side. Furthermore, utilizing a simple and thin lighting system we have reduced dramatically its module thickness up to 3.0mm, much thinner than that of conventional dual-type LCD, which is quite appropriate for the use of mobile applications.

This paper contributes to development of a new method for detecting rear-side vehicles and estimating the positions for blind spot region or providing the lane change information by using vision systems. Because the real image acquired during car driving has a lot of information including the target vehicle and background image as well as the noises such as lighting and shading, it is hard to extract only the target vehicle against the background image with satisfied robustness. In this paper, the target vehicle has been detected by repetitive image processing such as sobel and morphological operations and a Kalman filter has been also designed to cancel the background image and prevent the misreading of the target image. The proposed method can get faster image processing and more robustness rather than the previous researches. Various experiments were performed on the highway driving situations to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

This study examines the influence of fluctuating daylight illuminance on daylight dimming control systems. Field measurements were performed for a full-scale mocked-up model under various daylight conditions in winter. Fluctuating ranges for a partially-shielded photosensor were great when the variation of sky ratio was great. When solar altitude was lower the illuminance and fluctuating range of illuminance were great due to the influence of direct components of daylight and the interrefelction between surfaces in rear area of space. It implies that daylight dimming system would not function effectively, unless the desktop illuminance by daylight is enough. Fluctuation ranges of photosensor illuminance were lower than 50 lx under clear sky conditions, but they were greater than 100 lx under partly-cloudy sky conditions. It means that the fluctuation range of electric light output of lighting fixture would greater under the partly-cloudy conditions and cause potential visual annoyance to occupants. Outdoor vertical illuminance reaching the windows would be an effective factor that can be used to predict the fluctuation of photosensor signals for effective controls of daylight dimming system.

There are so many successful applications to image processing systems in industries. In this study we propose a position detection system for used oil filter by using a line laser. We have been done on the development of line laser as interaction devices. A camera captures images of a display surface of a used oil filter and then a laser beam location is extracted from the captured image. This image is processed and used as a cursor position. We also discuss an algorithm that can distinguish the front part and rear part. In particular we present a robust and efficient linear detection algorithm that allows us to use our system under a variety lighting conditions, and allows us to reduce the amount of image parsing required to find a laser position by an order of magnitude.

Light Emitting Diodes(LEDs) are widely utilized not only in lighting but also in various applications such as mobile phones, automobiles, displays, etc. The integration of LED lighting with communication, specifically Visible Light Communication(VLC), has gained significant attention. This paper presents the direct implementation and experimentation of a Vehicle-to-Vehicle(V2V) Visible Light Communication system using commonly used red and yellow LEDs in typical vehicles. Data collected from the leading vehicle, including positional and speed information, were modulated using Non-Return-to-Zero On-Off Keying(NRZ-OOK) and transmitted through the rear lights equipped with red and yellow LEDs. A photodetector(PD) received the visible light signals, demodulated the data, and restored it. To mitigate the interference from fluorescent lights and natural light, a PD for interference removal was installed, and an interference removal device using a polarizing filter and a differential amplifier was employed. The performance of the proposed visible light communication system was analyzed in an ideal case, indoors and outdoors environments. In an outdoor setting, maintaining a distance of approximately 30[cm], and a transmission rate of 4800[bps] for inter-vehicle data transmission, the red LED exhibited a performance improvement of approximately 13.63[dB], while the yellow LED showed an improvement of about 11.9[dB].

With the technical development and rapid increase of private demand, the new market for unmanned vehicle combined with the characteristics of 'unmanned automation' and 'vehicle' is rapidly growing. Even though the pilot driving is currently allowed in some countries, there is no country that has institutionalized the formal driving of self-driving cars. In case of the existing vehicles, safety incidents are frequently happening due to the frequent malfunction of the rear sensor, blind spot of the rear camera, or drivers' carelessness. Once such minor flaws are complemented, the relevant regulations for the commercialization of self-driving car and small drone could be relieved. Contrary to the ultrasonic and laser sensors used for the existing vehicles, this paper aims to attempt the distance measurement by using the depth sensor. A depth camera calculates the distance data based on the TOF method calculating the time difference by lighting laser or infrared light onto an object or area and then receiving the beam coming back. As this camera can obtain the depth data in the pixel unit of CCD camera, it can be used for collecting depth data in real-time. This paper suggests to solve problems mentioned above by using depth data in real-time and also to design the obstacle avoidance system through distance measurement.
Two methods were used to detrermine the net photosynthetic rate(NPR) in the plug stand using a wind tunnel for plug seedlings Production. One is called as the integration method in which NPR calculated by the use of air current speed and $CO^2$ concentration measured at any heights above the medium surface in a wind tunnel were summed. It was assumed that the air flow at any layer did not mix with the lower or upper air layer. The other is called as the diffusion method in which eddy diffusivities above the plug stand were used to determine the NPR in the plug stand. In this method, $CO^2$ above or inside the plug stand was assumed to be absorbed vertically. NPR determined by the diffusion method was 28~45% of the NPR calculated by the integration method. Considering the magnitude of NPR and the effects of the air current speed on NPR, the integration method would be adequate for the calculation of NPR in the plug stand. Maximum NPR determined using the integration method appeared at the air current speed of 0.7m $s^{-1}$. It was ascribed to the decreased diffusion resistances of $CO^2$ with the increasing air current speed. NPR at the rear region in plug stand was 20~34% lower than that at the front region. NPR sharply decreased with the increase of an elapsed time after the beginning of photoperiod. Therefore $CO^2$ enrichment would be effective to force the growth of plug seedlings in a semi-closed ecological system under artificial lighting.
This study examines the design technology of searchlight optics featuring narrow beam angles and high luminous intensities. Halogen and xenon lamps, which are conventional searchlight sources, are vulnerable to vibration and shock, and are large and heavy, making them difficult to transport. In addition, the parabolic mirror located at the rear of the searchlight has the disadvantages of poor performance and low light efficiency, due to the assembly error produced during manufacturing. To solve this problem, a 1-kW halogen lamp is replaced by a 150-W high-power COB LED, and a high-efficiency TIR lens is designed to meet the target performance. Afterward, the TIR lens array is proposed to solve the surface error generated during optical injection. After a prototype is manufactured based on the designed optical system, the optical performance is confirmed to be excellent, by comparing it to that of a commercial halogen-lamp searchlight.
The purpose of this paper is to study the failure cases in relation to system of Air Bag in vehicle happened in the field. In the first example, it was separated the soldering parts connected the wire pin between air bag module and clock spring of air bag. Whenever the pin shake by the car's vibration, the driver verified the malfunction phenomenon appeared air bag warning lamp on instrument panel in front of driver's seat. in car inside room. The second example, it verified the warning lamp lighting phenomenon of air bag by produced the circuit plate non-contacting of single an element in air bag electronic control unit. The third example, it verified the light of air bag warning indicator lamp by separated with soldering parts connecting inner pin and resistance terminal of seat belt pretensioner using passenger seat. The fourth example, when the passenger car crash a back of truck, the former bumper get jammed under the latter as the roof height of car low less than that. Therefore, the impact of Car's collision verified that don't transfer with body frame of vehicle because of no attachment impact sensor in it.
