  • Trichromatic LED backlight renders higher colour gamut and panel transmittance to the LCDs than the phosphor-converted white LED backlight. In realization, however, several technical challenges arise, such as colour shift, due to the ambient temperature change, brightness decrease along with the temperature increase, colour mixing, minimizing the total number of chips and so on. In this paper we designed and tested the low cost temperature compensating circuit, using a thermistor as a temperature compensating element, for stabilizing the brightness and maintaining the colour coordinates of the trichromatic backlight units. By applying the temperature compensating circuit, the decrement rate of the brightness and colour shift rate were achieved by 54% and 51% respectively comparing with uncompensated case.

  • A realization for an accurate position detecting system of a moving target in two dimensional plane using dual line CCDs and photometric interpolation is presented. The system is realized that the infrared LEDs are utilized for lighting source, a target size is recognized by the scanned data from CCD owing to blocking the radiated light path by placing the target between CCD and lighting source, a coordinate on the plane is found by plane trigonometry formed by the moving target and two CCD sensors, and the former scan data is used for the coordinate iteratively and the photometric interpolation is applied to sub-pixel of scanned image. The experimental results show that the experiment results in a success rate about 3 different size targets, 3, 5 and 7mmm on the test plane $210{\times}373mm$. The moving target positioning detected success rate is 93% in 3mm target, 5mm is 95.3%, and 7mm is 95.8% respectively. The photometric interpolation is enhanced to 1.5% in comparison to be unused.

  • Magnetic random access memory (MRAM), based on magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) and CMOS, is a prominent candidate among prospective semiconductor memories because it can provide nonvolatility, fast access time, unlimited read/write endurance, low operating voltage and high storage density. The etching of MTJ stack with good properties is one of a key process for the realization of high density MRAM. In order to achieve high quality MTJ stack, the use of CoFeB and IrMn magnetic films as free layers was proposed. In this study, inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching of CoFeB and IrMn thin films masked with Ti hard mask was investigated in a $Cl_2$/Ar gas mix. The etch rate of CoFeB and IrMn films were examined on varying $Cl_2$ gas concentration. As the $Cl_2$ gas increased, the etch rate monotonously decreased. The effective of etch parameters including coil rf power, dc-bais voltage, and gas pressure on the etch profile of CoFeB and IrMn thin film was explored, At high coil rf power, high dc-bais voltage, low gas pressure, the etching of CoFeB and IrMn displayed better etch profiles. Finally, the clean and vertical etch sidewall of CoFeB and IrMn free layers can be achieved by means of thin Ti hard mask in a $Cl_2$/Ar plasma at the optimized condition.

  • Magnetic random access memory (MRAM), based on magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) and CMOS, is one of the best semiconductor memories because it can provide nonvolatility, fast access time, unlimited read/write endurance, low operating voltage and high storage density. For the realization of high density MRAM, the etching of MTJ stack with good properties is one of a key process. Recently, there has been great interest in the MTJ stack using MgO as barrier layer for its huge room temperature MR ratio. The use of MgO barrier layer will undoubtedly accelerate the development of MTJ stack for MRAM. In this study, high-density plasma reactive ion etching of MgO films was investigated in an inductively coupled plasma of $Cl_2$/Ar gas mixes. The etch rate, etch selectivity and etch profile of this magnetic film were examined on vary gas concentration. As the $Cl_2$ gas concentration increased, the etch rate of MgO monotonously decreased and etch slop was slanted. The effective of etch parameters including coil rf power, dc-bais voltage, and gas pressure on the etch profile of MgO thin film was explored, At high coil rf power, high dc-bais voltage, low gas pressure, the etching of MgO displayed better etch profiles. Finally, the clean and vertical etch sidewall of MgO films was achieved using $Cl_2$/Ar plasma at the optimized etch conditions.

  • This study investigates how the phonological and phonetic information of vowels influences prosodic prominence among linguistically untrained listeners using public speech in American English. We first examined the speech material's phonetic realization of vowels (i.e., maximum F0, F0 range, phone rate [as a measure of duration considering the speech rate of the utterance], and mean intensity). Results showed that the high vowels /i/ and /u/ likely had the highest max F0, while the low vowels /æ/ and /ɑ/ tended to have the highest mean intensity. Both high and low vowels had similarly high phone rates. Next, we examined the effects of the vowels' phonological and phonetic information on listeners' perceptions of prosodic prominence. The results showed that vowels significantly affected the likelihood of perceived prominence independent of acoustic cues. The high and low vowels affected probability of perceived prominence less than the mid vowels /ɛ/ and /ʌ/, although the former two were more likely to be phonetically enhanced in the speech than the latter. Overall, these results suggest that perceptions of prosodic prominence in English are not directly influenced by signal-driven factors (i.e., vowels' acoustic information) but are mediated by expectation-driven factors (e.g., vowels' phonological information).

  • WDM is a very promisinig technique for the realization of future All-Optical networks. WDM gives an advantage of high rate transmission without delay for Electronic/optical conversion. But the available number of wavelengths is limited by technical restriction. so the efficient optical path routing and wavelength assignment is needed. this paper is concerned with the efficient design of WDM optical transport networks. RWA assumes that the connection demands between node pairs are given. the objective of RWA is to minimize the number of wavelengths. these design consider the static routing and wavelength assignment in the network of arbitrary topology. To solve these problems, this paper proposes some heuristic algorithms.

  • A first short stoke current which has a 10/350 ${\mu}s$ waveform is able to be generated by using the crowbar switch in R-L-C circuit. In this paper, a peaking circuit has been applied to make crowbar switch. Operate effective for generating 10/350 ${\mu}s$ waveform. According to simulation with PSpice, we have found that some value of inductance were more effective to trigger a crowbar switch. As a result of experimental test using crowbar switch with peaking circuit, the success rate of triggering crowbar switch is higher than the normal crowbar switch without peaking circuit.

  • Decreasing actual greenhouse gas will be difficult if it is not solved addressed in architectural fields. Zero emission building or zero energy building, maximize the efficiency of energy, which means the building can operate by their own renewable energy facility without any other supplying. To be a zero emission building, a building needs realization of high efficiency low energy consumption, construction of building its own energy production facilities and lastly a power grid connection. According to increasing of DC load about TV, LED lighting, computer, IT in building for living and business, it is expected the save of energy when the system of AC power distribution change into the system of DC power distribution. Renewable energy exists a big different rate produced by outside environment. When electrical power overproduce, it can supply for system. Otherwise, if electrical power produce less, it can receive supply from system. Send and receive power can lead to zero to annual standard. This paper shows the simulation about efficient control of power conversion which is related to DC power distribution of architecture and DC output of renewable energy by using L-type converter.
