This paper proposes a probabilistic method in analyzing timing measurements to determine the periodicity of real-time tasks. The proposed method fills a gap in existing techniques, which either concentrate on the estimation of worst-case execution times, or do not consider the stochastic behavior of the real-time scheduler. Our method is based on the Z-test statistical analysis which calculates the probability of the measured period to fall within a user-defined standard deviation limit. The distribution of the measured period should satisfy two conditions: its center (statistical mean) should be equal to the scheduled period of the real-time task, and that it should be symmetrical with most of the samples focused on the center. To ensure that these requirements are met, a data adjustment process, which omits any outliers in the expense of accuracy, is presented. Then, the Z-score of the distribution according to the user-defined deviation limit provides a probability which determines the periodicity of the real-time task. Experiments are conducted to analyze the timing measurements of real-time tasks based on real-time Linux extensions of Xenomai and RT-Preempt. The results indicate that the proposed method is able to provide easier interpretation of the periodicity of real-time tasks which are valuable especially in comparing the performance of various real-time systems.
In this study, a real-time architecture for the detection of clock jumps in the GPS clock behavior is proposed. GPS satellite atomic clocks have characteristics of a second order polynomial in the long term showing sudden jumps occasionally. As satellite clock anomalies influence on GPS measurements which could deliver wrong position information to users as a result, it is required to develop a real time technique for the detection of the clock anomalies especially on the real-time GPS applications such as aviation. The proposed strategy is based on Teager Energy operator, which can be immediately detect any changes in the satellite clock bias estimated from GPS carrier phase measurements. The verification results under numerous cases in the presence of clock jumps are demonstrated.
Online voltage stability monitoring using real-time measurements is one of the most important tasks in a smart grid system to maintain the grid stability. Loading margin is a good indicator for assessing the voltage stability level. This paper presents an Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) approach for estimation of voltage stability level under credible contingencies using real-time measurements from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). PMUs enable a much higher data sampling rate and provide synchronized measurements of real-time phasors of voltages and currents. Depth First (DF) algorithm is used for optimally placing the PMUs. To make the ELM approach applicable for a large scale power system problem, Mutual information (MI)-based feature selection is proposed to achieve the dimensionality reduction. MI-based feature selection reduces the number of network input features which reduces the network training time and improves the generalization capability. Voltage magnitudes and phase angles received from PMUs are fed as inputs to the ELM model. IEEE 30-bus test system is considered for demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed methodology for estimating the voltage stability level under various loading conditions considering single line contingencies. Simulation results validate the suitability of the technique for fast and accurate online voltage stability assessment using PMU data.

The application of time-domain methods in emission measurement instruments allows for a reduction in scan time by several orders of magnitude and for new evaluation methods to be realized such as the real-time spectrogram to characterize transient emissions. In this paper two novel systems for time-domain EMI measurements above 1 GHz are presented. The first system combines ultra-fast analog-to-digital-conversion and real-time digital signal processing on a field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) with ultra-broadband multi-stage down-conversion to enable measurements in the range from 10 Hz to 26 GHz with high sensitivity and full-compliance with the requirements of CISPR 16-1-1. The required IF bandwidths were added to allow for measurements according to MIL-461F and DO-160F. The second system realizes a system of time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and has an upper bandwidth limit of 4 GHz. With the implementation of an automatic mismatch calibration, the system fulfills CISPR 16-1-1 dynamic range requirements. Measurements of the radiated emissions of electronic consumer devices and household appliances like the non-stationary emissions of a microwave oven are presented. A measurement of a personal computer's conducted emissions on a power supply line according to DO-160F is given.

State estimators are used to monitor the operating states of power systems in modern EMS. It iteratively calculates the voltage profile of the currently operating power system with voltage, current, and power measurements gathered from the entire system. All the measurements are usually assumed to be obtained simultaneously. It is practically impossible, however, to maintain the synchronism of the measurement data. Recently, phasor measurements synchronized via satellite are used for the operation of these power systems. This paper describes the modified state estimator used to support the processing of synchronized phasor measurements. Synchronized phasor measurements are found to provide synchronism of measurement data and improve the accuracy/redundancy of the measurement data for state estimation. The details of the developed state estimation program and some numerical results of operation are presented.

This paper presents performance evaluation of real-time mechanisms for real-time embedded linux. First, we presents process for implementing open-source real-time embedded linux namely RTAI and Xenomai. These are real-time extensions to linux kernel and we implemented real-time embedded linux over the latest linux kernel. Measurements of executions of real-time mechanisms for each distribution are performed to give a quantitative comparison. Performance evaluations are conducted in kernel space about repeatability of periodic task, response time of Semaphore, FIFO, Mailbox and Message queue in terms of inter-task communication for each distribution. These rules can be helpful for deciding which real-time linux extension should be used with respect to the requirements of the real-time applications.
To analyze dynamic and long-term behavior of high speed rail system, and seismic measurements been installed at the various locations in the high speed rail system. Among these, 76 measurements were installed Chunan and Deajeon, and 80 measurements between Kwangmyung and Chunan. From these 156 measurements, real time data are continuously corrected and be sent to the main monitoring system to be used further analysis. These two systems were installed by different institution, and so there are not only basic differences in the system itself, but system running methods and data collecting/transferring methodology. There has been systematic difficulties due to these differences. This study shows the whole steps of high speed rail data monitoring systems include measurement equipment itself and data collecting/transferring system. study will proposed a more effective methods for collecting. This study also discuss the real time analysis method which can be used for future high speed rail monitoring system.
The classical Kalman filter (KF) can provide effective state estimation for structural identification and vibration control, but it is applicable only when external inputs are measured. So far, some studies of Kalman filter with unknown inputs (KF-UI) have been proposed. However, previous KF-UI approaches based solely on acceleration measurements are inherently unstable which leads to poor tracking and fictitious drifts in the identified structural displacements and unknown inputs in the presence of measurement noises. Moreover, it is necessary to have the measurements of acceleration responses at the locations where unknown inputs applied, i.e., with collocated acceleration measurements in these approaches. In this paper, it aims to extend the classical KF approach to circumvent the above limitations for general real time estimation of structural state and unknown inputs without using collocated acceleration measurements. Based on the scheme of the classical KF, an improved Kalman filter with unknown excitations (KF-UI) and without collocated acceleration measurements is derived. Then, data fusion of acceleration and displacement or strain measurements is used to prevent the drifts in the identified structural state and unknown inputs in real time. Such algorithm is not available in the literature. Some numerical examples are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
The precise orbit determination (POD) of low earth orbiter (LEO) has complied with its required positioning accuracy by the double-differencing of observations between International GNSS Service (IGS) and LEO to eliminate the common clock error of the global positioning system (GPS) satellites and receiver. Using this method, we also have achieved the 1 m positioning accuracy of Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT)-2. However double-differencing POD has huge load of processing the global network of lots of ground stations because LEO turns around the Earth with rapid velocity. And both the centimeter accuracy and the near real time (NRT) processing have been needed in the LEO POD applications--atmospheric sounding or urgent image processing--as well as the surveying. An alternative to differential GPS for high accuracy NRT POD is precise point positioning (PPP) to use measurements from one satellite receiver only, to replace the broadcast navigation message with precise post processed values from IGS, and to have phase measurements of dual frequency GPS receiver. PPP can obtain positioning accuracy comparable to that of differential positioning. KOMPSAT-5 has a precise dual frequency GPS flight receiver (integrated GPS and occultation receiver, IGOR) to satisfy the accuracy requirements of 20 cm positioning accuracy for highly precise synthetic aperture radar image processing and to collect GPS radio occultation measurements for atmospheric sounding. In this paper we obtained about 3-5 cm positioning accuracies using the real GPS data of the Gravity Recover and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellites loaded the Blackjack receiver, a predecessor of IGOR. And it is important to reduce the latency of orbit determination processing in the NRT POD. This latency is determined as the volume of GPS measurements. Thus changing the sampling intervals, we show their latency to able to reduce without the precision degradation as the assessment of their precision.
