  • Purpose This study develops a heuristic algorithm to solve the time-resource tradeoffs in project scheduling problems with a real basis. Design/methodology/approach Resource constrained project scheduling problem with time-resource tradeoff is well-known as one of the NP-hard problems. Previous researchers have proposed heuristic that minimize Makespan of project scheduling by deriving optimal combinations from finite combinations of time and resource. We studied to solve project scheduling problems by deriving optimal values from infinite combinations. Findings We developed heuristic algorithm named Push Algorithm that derives optimal combinations from infinite combinations of time and resources. Developed heuristic algorithm based on simulated annealing shows better improved results than genetic algorithm and further research suggestion was discussed as a project scheduling problem with multiple resources of real numbers.

  • In this paper, we designed binary phase grating with SA (simulated annealing) algorithm for image generation, and used LCTV(liquid crystal television) as phase modulator. We generated optical image using LCTV which controlled by personal computer in real time. Many parameters in SA algorithm are determined by average deviation of the cost function, not experimental method. It was confirmed that the LCTV could be used as a phase modulator through mach-zehnder interferometering experiment. The various optical images are generated in real itme by fourier transforming of the phase gratings on LCTV which is controlled by personal computer and they can be used for optical interconnection in a neural network and addressing information in a volume hologram etc.

  • We observed strain evolution of P3HT crystals in P3HT:PCBM films and the effect of Al electrode on the evolution during real time annealing process. Based on simple assumptions, both relaxed lattice parameters and thermal expansion coefficient could be quantitatively determined. P3HT:PCBM films displayed tensile strain in as-prepared samples regardless of the presence of an Al layer. In the absence of Al layer, P3HT crystals showed only strain relaxation at an annealing temperature of $180^{\circ}C$. Meanwhile In the presence of an Al layer, the strain was relaxed and changed to compressive strain at around 120C annealing temperature, which indicated a tightening of the thiophene ring packing. These behaviors support the improved performance of devices fabricated by post annealing process.

  • In this parer, we present a real-time path planning algorithm which is integrated the artificial potential field(APF) and simulated annealing(SA) methods for mobile robot. The APF method in path planning has gained popularity since 1990's. It doesn't need the modeling of the complex configuration space of robot, and is easy to apply the path planning with simple computation. However, there is a major problem with APF method. It is the formation of local minima that can trap the robot before reaching its goal. So, to provide local minima recovery, we apply the SA method. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulation.

  • Recently, nanostructure and the molecular orientation of organic thin films have been largely paid attention due to its importance in organic electronics such as organic thin film transistors (OTFTs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Among various methods, the diffraction and scattering techniques based on synchrotron x-rays have shown powerful results in organic thin film systems. In this work, we introduce the in-situ annealing system installed at PLS-II (Pohang Light Source II) for organic thin films by simultaneously conducting various x-ray scattering measurements of x-ray reflectivity, conventional x-ray scattering, grazing incidence wide angle x-ray scattering (GI-WAXS) and so on. Using the in-situ measurement, we could obtain real time variation of nanostructure as well as molecular orientation during thermal annealing in metal-phthalocyanine thin films. The variation of surface and interface also could be simultaneously investigated by the x-ray reflectivity measurement.

  • The effects of the interfacial buffer layer and temperature on the organic bulk heterojunction (BHJ) nanostructures of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) and fullerene (C60) systems were investigated using real time in-situ x-ray scattering. In the CuPc:C60 BHJ structures, standing-on configured ${\gamma}$-CuPc phase was formed by co-deposition of CuPc and C60. Once formed ${\gamma}$-phase was thermally stable during the annealing upon $180^{\circ}C$. Meanwhile, the insertion of CuI buffer layer prior to deposition of the CuPc:C60 BHJ layer induced lying-down configured CuPc crystals in the BHJ layer. The lying CuPc peak intensity and the lattice parameter were increased by the thermal annealing. This increment of the intensity seemed to be related to the strain at the interface between CuPc:C60 and CuI, which was proportional to the enhancement of the power conversion efficiency of the device.

  • AESA radar is able to instantaneously and adaptively position and control the beam, and such adaptive beam pointing of AESA radar enables to remarkably improve the multi-mission capability. For this reason, Radar Resource Management(RRM) becomes new challenging issue. RRM is a technique efficiently allocating finite resources, such as energy and time to each task in an optimal and intelligent way. Especially radar beam scheduling is the most critical component for the success of RRM. In this paper, we proposed a rule-based scheduling algorithm and Simulated Annealing(SA) based scheduling algorithm, which are alternatively selected and applied to beam scheduler according radar load status in real-time. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated on the multi-function radar scenario. As a result, we showed that our proposed algorithm can process a lot of beams at the right time with real time capability, compared with applying only rule-based scheduling algorithm. Additionally, we showed that the proposed algorithm can save scheduling time remarkably, compared with applying only SA-based scheduling algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a real-time classifier to distinguish humans from livestock by using the spatial integral. The image-difference method and the Expectation Maximization are used to reduce noises in input image. A histogram analysis based on Simulated Annealing and the fuzzy-Bayesian algorithm are used to classify human and livestock. Finally, the experiment results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • A hydrological grey model is developed to forecast short-term river runoff from the Naju watershed located at upstream of the Youngsan estuary dam in Korea. The runoff of the Naju watershed is measured in real time at the Naju streamflow gauge station, which is a key station for forecasting the upstream inflow and operating the gates of the estuary dam in flood period. The model's governing equation is formulated on the basis of the grey system theory. The model parameters are reparameterized in combination with the grey system parameters and estimated with the annealing-simplex method In conjunction with an objective function, HMLE. To forecast accurately runoff, the fifth order differential equation was adopted as the governing equation of the model in consideration of the statistic values between the observed and forecast runoff. In calibration, RMSE values between the observed and simulated runoff of two and six Hours ahead using the model range from 3.1 to 290.5 $m^{3}/s,\;R^2$ values range from 0.909 to 0.999. In verification, RMSE values range from 26.4 to 147.4 $m^{3}/s,\;R^2$ values range from 0.940 to 0.998, compared to the observed data. In forecasting runoff in real time, the relative error values with lead-time and river stage range from -23.4 to $14.3\%$ and increase as the lead time increases. The results in this study demonstrate that the proposed model can reasonably and efficiently forecast runoff for one to six Hours ahead.
