Compositional data refers to data where the sum of the values of the components is a constant, hence the sample space is defined as a simplex making it impossible to apply statistical methods developed in the usual Euclidean vector space. A natural approach to overcome this restriction is to consider an appropriate transformation which moves the sample space onto the Euclidean space, and log-ratio typed transformations, such as the additive log-ratio (ALR), the centered log-ratio (CLR) and the isometric log-ratio (ILR) transformations, have been mostly conducted. However, in scenarios with sparsity, where certain components take on exact zero values, these log-ratio type transformations may not be effective. In this work, we mainly suggest an alternative transformation, that is the square-root transformation which moves the original sample space onto the directional space. We compare the square-root transformation with the log-ratio typed transformation by the simulation study and the real data example. In the real data example, we applied both types of transformations to the USG% data obtained from NBA, and used a density based clustering method, DBSCAN (density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise), to show the result.

This paper proposes a parallel reduced-order square-root unscented Kalman filter for state estimation of a sensorless permanent-magnet synchronous motor. The appearance of an unscented Kalman filter is caused by the linearization process error between a real system and classical Kalman model. The unscented transformation can make a more accurate Kalman model. However, the complexity is its main drawback. This paper investigates the design and implementation of the proposed filter with Potter and Carlson square-root form. The proposed parallel reduced-order square-root unscented Kalman filter reduces memory and code size, and improves numerical computation. And the performance is not significantly different from the unscented Kalman filter. The experimentation is performed for the verification of the proposed filter.
The root nodule of Canavalia lineta was classified as a determinate nodule and the symbiont as a Rhizobium-bacteriod based on their morphological characteristics. Isolated encosymbiont was similar both to R. leguminosarum and R. meliloti in its peritrichous arrangement of flagella and some of the physiological characteristics. Compared to control plants, Canavalia seedlings inoculated with the isolate grew normally due to induced root nodules, confirming isolate's infectivity and effectivity. Characteristics of the reisolated endosymbiont from induced root nodule were identical to those of the first isolate, indicating the nodules were induced by the first isolate. From these results, it was confirmed that Rhizobium strain isolated from the root nodules of Canavalia lineata was a real symbiont, and was named Rhizobium sp. SNU003.
It is not enough to reduce damages of computer systems by just patching vulnerability codes after incidents occur. It is necessary to detect and block intrusions by boosting the durability of systems even if there are vulnerable codes in systems. This paper proposes a robust real-time intrusion detection method by monitoring root privileged processes instead of system administrators in Linux systems. This method saves IP addresses of users in the process table and monitors IP addresses of every root privileged process. The proposed method is verified to protect vulnerable programs against the buffer overflow by using KON program. A configuration protocol is proposed to manage systems remotely and host IP addresses are protected from intrusions safely through this protocol.
Objectives: This study evaluated the effects of adhesion variables such as the priming concepts of canal wall and the curing modes of adhesives on the sealing ability of a resin-based root canal filling system. Materials and Methods: Apical microleakage of the Resilon-RealSeal systems filled with 3 different combinations of adhesion variables was compared with the conventional gutta-percha filling using a dye penetration method. Experimental groups were SEDC, Resilon (Resilon Research LLC) filling with self-etch RealSeal (SybronEndo) primer and dual-cure RealSeal sealer; NELC, Resilon filling with no etching, Scotchbond Multi-Purpose (3M ESPE) primer application and light-curing adhesive; and TELC, Resilon filling with Scotchbond Multi-Purpose primer and adhesive used under total etch / wet bonding and lightcure protocols. GPCS, gutta-percha filling with conventional AH26 plus sealer, was the control group. Results: The median longitudinal dye penetration length of TELC was significantly shorter than those of GPCS and SEDC (Kruskal-Wallis test, p < 0.05). In the cross-sectional microleakage scores, TELC showed significant differences from other groups at 2 to 5 mm from the apical foramen (Kruskal-Wallis test, p < 0.05). Conclusions: When a resin-based root canal filling material was used, compared to the self-etching primer and the dual-cure sealer, the total etch/wet-bonding with primer and light-curing of adhesive showed improved apical sealing and was highly recommended.

This study was conducted to evaluate the temperature rise on the root surface while the root canal is being obturated using continuous wave of condensation technique. Maxillary central incisor was prepared for repeated canal obturation. Ten thermocouples (Omega Engineering Inc., Stanford, USA) were placed at 1 mm increment from the anatomical root apex. The real temperature of Buchanan plugger was recorded before insertion into the root canal. The root canal was obturated with continuous wave of condensation technique as described by Buchanan and the root surface temperature was recorded during obturation at $150^{\circ}C,{\;}200^{\circ}C,{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}300^{\circ}C$ temperature settings of System B HeatSource (Model 1005, Analytic technologies, Redmond, WA, USA). After completion of the temperature recording, the dentinal-cementum thickness at each sites was measured. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Scheffe's test and linear regression test. The results were as follows. 1. When the temperature was set at $150^{\circ}C,{\;}200^{\circ}C,{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}300^{\circ}C$ on the digital display of System B HeatSource, the real temperature of the plugger at the 1mm point from the tip revealed $130.82{\pm}2.96^{\circ}C,{\;}158.00{\pm}5.26^{\circ}C,{\;}215.92{\pm}6.91^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}249.88{\pm}3.65^{\circ}C$ respectively. 2. The position of 8 mm from the anatomical apex showed the highest temperature increase at each temperature settings and it was significantly higher than those of other positions (p<0.0l). The temperature rise was constantly increased toward coronal portion from apex of the root. 3. The maximum temperature increase on the root surface was $2.37{\pm}0.09^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}150^{\circ}C{\;}setting,{\;}3.11{\pm}0.12^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}200^{\circ}{\;}setting,{\;}3.93{\pm}0.09^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}setting{\;}and{\;}5.69{\pm}0.15^{\circ}C{\;}at{\;}300^{\circ}C$ setting respectively. These results suggest that it be relatively kind to the supporting tissues of the root that the root canal is obturated using continuous wave of condensation technique at $150^{\circ}C,{\;}200^{\circ}C,{\;}250^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}300^{\circ}C$ temperature settings on digital temperature display of System B HeatSource.

Activation tagging that uses T-DNA vectors containing multimerized transcriptional enhancers from the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S gene is a powerful tool to determine gene function in plants. This approach has been successfully applied in screening various types of mutations and cloning the corresponding genes. We generated an activation tagged hairy root pool of ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) in an attempt to isolate genes involved in the biosynthetic pathway of ginsenoside (triterpene saponin), which is known as the major active ingredient of the root. Quantitative and qualitative variation of ginsenoside in activation tagged hairy root lines were profiled using LC/MS. Metabolic profiling data enabled selection of a specific hairy root line which accumulated ginsenoside at a higher level than other lines. The relative expression level of several genes of triterpene biosynthetic pathway in the selected hairy root line was determined by real time RT-PCR. Overall results suggest that the activation tagged ginseng hairy root system described in this study would be useful in isolating genes involved in a complex metabolic pathway from genetically intractable plant species by metabolic profiling.
Purpose - This work analyzes, in detail, the specification of vector error correction model (VECM) and thus examines the relationships and impact among seven economic variables for USA - balance on current account (BCA), index of stock (STOCK), gross domestic product (GDP), housing price indices (HOUSING), a measure of the money supply that includes total currency as well as large time deposits, institutional money market funds, short-term repurchase agreements and other larger liquid assets (M3), real rate of interest (IR_REAL) and household credits (LOAN). In particular, we search for the main explanatory variables that have an effect on stock and real estate market, respectively and investigate the causal and dynamic associations between them. Research design, data, and methodology - We perform the time series vector error correction model to infer the dynamic relationships among seven variables above. This work employs the conventional augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) and Phillips-Perron (PP) unit root techniques to test for stationarity among seven variables under consideration, and Johansen cointegration test to specify the order or the number of cointegration relationship. Granger causality test is exploited to inspect for causal relationship and, at the same time, impulse response function and variance decomposition analysis are checked for both short-run and long-run association among the seven variables by EViews 9.0. The underlying model was analyzed by using 108 realizations from Q1 1990 to Q4 2016 for USA. Results - The results show that all the seven variables for USA have one unit root and they are cointegrated with at most five and three cointegrating equation for USA. The vector error correction model expresses a long-run relationship among variables. Both IR_REAL and M3 may influence real estate market, and GDP does stock market in USA. On the other hand, GDP, IR_REAL, M3, STOCK and LOAN may be considered as causal factors to affect real estate market. Conclusions - The findings indicate that both stock market and real estate market can be modelled as vector error correction specification for USA. In addition, we can detect causal relationships among variables and compare dynamic differences between countries in terms of stock market and real estate market.

Weld root gap is a important fact of a falling-off weld quality in various kind of weld defect. The welding quality can be controlled by monitoring important parameters, such as, the Arc voltage, welding current and welding speed during the welding process. Welding systems use either a vision sensor or an Arc sensor, both of which are unable to control these parameters directly. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain necessary bead geometry without automatically controlling the welding parameters through the sensors. In this paper we propose a novel approach using neural networks for detecting and monitoring of weld root gap and bead shape. Through experiments we demonstrate that the proposed system can be used for real welding processes. The results demonstrate that the system can efficiently estimate the weld bead shape and detect the welding defects.
The root nodules and Glycine max were classified as determinate nodule based on their morphological characteristics, and isolated endosymbiont as a Bradyrhizobium based on its growth rate and single subpolar flagellum. The isolate was similar to B. japonicum USDA110 in utilization of carbon source, growth at 38.deg.C and 2% NaCl, production of $H_{2}$S and especially in the restriction endonuclease digestion pattern of symbiotic genes, allowing them to be placed in sTI group together. The former, however, grew better than the later in broad pH range from 5.0 to 9.5. Infectivity and effectivity of the isolate were confirmed by inoculation of soybean seedlings with the isolates. Characteristics of the reisolated endosymbiont from induced root nodules were identical to those of the first isolate. From these results, it was confirmed that Bradyrhizobium strain isolated from the root nodules of Glycine max was a real symbiont, and was named B. japonicum SNU001.
