Support Vector Machine Model to Select Exterior Materials

  • Choosing the best-performance materials is a crucial task for the successful completion of a project in the construction field. In general, the process of material selection is performed through the use of information by a highly experienced expert and the purchasing agent, without the assistance of logical decision-making techniques. For this reason, the construction field has considered various artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to support decision systems as their own selection method. This study proposes the application of a systematic and efficient support vector machine (SVM) model to select optimal exterior materials. The dataset of the study is 120 completed construction projects in South Korea. A total of 8 input determinants were identified and verified from the literature review and interviews with experts. Using data classification and normalization, these 120 sets were divided into 3 groups, and then 5 binary classification models were constructed in a one-against-all (OAA) multi classification method. The SVM model, based on the kernel radical basis function, yielded a prediction accuracy rate of 87.5%. This study indicates that the SVM model appears to be feasible as a decision support system for selecting an optimal construction method.

Cloning and characterization of Giardia intestinalis cyclophilin

  • The cyclophilins (Cyps) are family members of proteins that exhibit peptidylprolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase, EC 5.2.1.8) activity and bind the immunosuppressive agent cyclosprin A (CsA) in varying degrees. During the process of random sequencing of a cDNA library made from Giardia intestinalis WB strain, the cyclophilin gene (gicypl) was isolated. An open reading frame of gicyp1 gene was 576 nucleotides, which corresponded to a translation product of 176 amino acids (Gicypl). The identity with other Cyps was about 58-71%. The 13 residues that constituted the CsA binding site of human cyclophilin were also detected in the amino acid sequence of Gicypl, including tryptophan residue essential for the drug binding. The single copy of the gicypl gene was detected in the G. intestinalis chromosome by southern hybridization analysis. Recombinant Gicyp 1 protein clearly accelerated the rate of cis ${\rightarrow}$ trans isomerization of the peptide substrate and the catalysis was completely inhibited by the addition of $0.5{\;}{\mu}M$ CsA.

다중 빔 광디스크 시스템을 위한 자기 구동형 빔 회전 구동기의 개발 (Development of Beam Rotating Actuator Based on Voice Coil Motor Type for Mulit-beam Optical Disc System)

  • multi-beam optical drive is a method to improve the data transfer rate for the optical disc systems by parallel recording and reading on neighboring multi-tracks. In this paper, the beam rotating actuator, which is necessary for the multi-bean optical disc drive to from beam spots on multi-tracks simultaneously, has been developed. The Voice Coil Motor is used as a drive mechanism for high resolution and small size of the actuator. And rotating guide based on link structure is designed for frictionless and axisless rotation of rotating part including dove prism and for rotating in axis of geometric center of dove prism. The characteristics of the actuator are experimented by laser vibrometer, Polytec OFV1102 and a dynamic analyzer, HP35670A. It shows that the actuator has good linearity, rotating range $\pm0.34^\circ$, minimum rotating angle $0.0066^\circ$and natural frequency 113.9Hz. Therefore the actuator can be applied in a multi-beam optical disc system.

  • As high-definition television(HDTV) broadcasting were generalized, there have been many researches and developments about large storage capacity and fast data transfer rate in optical disk drives(ODD). Pickup actuators must have high flexible mode frequencies and gain margins. Flexible modes are caused by the flexibility of moving parts in the actuator and a servo bandwidth is limited by them. As a result, the system becomes unstable for high-speed operations in high density reading and recording. In this paper, we suggest improved modeling method that considers the bonding layer. And, flexible mode frequency of actuator is improved by Design of Experiment of lens holder. Magnet circuit is designed considering the relation with moving part. Through improving yoke design, the magnetic flux is changed and DC tilt is reduced. Consequently, we designed actuator which has high flexible mode frequency and gain margins.

공공도서관의 청소년들에 대한 봉사에 대하여 - 학교도서관과의 협조적 측면에서 (As for Services of the Public Libraries toward the Youth)

  • The following results have been driven out from a survey of the actual conditions of the public libraries service in Korea, made through questionnaire in reference with the actual service for youth that are presently done by the foreign countries' libraries, in order to prepare a perfect and objective base in establishing a service activities of the public libraries in this country: (1) It was found that the public libraries' loarning hours during the week days which accords with the schooling hours of the schools are shown to 50 %. On Saturdays during Summer season seven libraries and during Winter season twelve libraries would close their loaning before 17 : 00 hours, and on Holidays and Sundays fifteen libraries are not doing their loarning. (2) The followings are the present status of the service activities for the youth by the public libraries: a. It was found that they do introduction activity (50 %) of newly published books as a service for inducing reading interestings of the youth, and except this it was found that others are on beginning. b. The service activities by the data for the visual and auditory sense are almost negelected. and the rate of doing such activity is shown to 9.74%. c. It has been found that little information service activity is for inducing the youth to the libraries. d. As a cooperative activity with the school's, a passive service activity to have pursuaded to visit the public libraries by each class, are mostly being done (27.27%). Some research meeting for solving all the matters between the school libraries are not held mostly.

일본 공공도서관의 대활자본 현황 조사 - 야마가타현을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Large Print Books Current Situation in Japanese Public Libraries - in Yamagata Prefecture -)

  • 초고령사회 일본의 공공도서관에서는 고령자서비스의 일환으로 대활자본에 대해 어떤 서비스가 이루어지고 있는지 그 실태와 현황을 파악하였다. 야마가타현의 공공도서관을 대상으로 한 결과 80%에 가까운 도서관이 대활자본을 소장하고 있음을 파악하였으나 이를 활용한 특별한 서비스도 실시되고 있지 않고 대출율도 저조하여 도서의 홍보에도 소극적임을 확인하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 고령자층을 고려한 대활자본의 독서환경에 대한 재정비 방안을 제시하였다.

Identification and Heterologous Expression of a ${\Delta}4$-Fatty Acid Desaturase Gene from Isochrysis sphaerica

  • The marine microalga Isochrysis sphaerica is rich in the very-long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, $C20:5{\omega}-3$) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, $C22:6{\omega}-3$) that are important to human health. Here, we report a functional characterization of a ${\Delta}4$-fatty acid desaturase gene (FAD4) from I. sphaerica. IsFAD4 contains a 1,284 bp open reading frame encoding a 427 amino acid polypeptide. The deduced amino sequence comprises three conserved histidine motifs and a cytochrome b5 domain at its N-terminus. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that IsFad4 formed a unique Isochrysis clade distinct from the counterparts of other eukaryotes. Heterologous expression of IsFAD4 in Pichia pastoris showed that IsFad4 was able to desaturate docosapentaenoic acid (DPA) to form DHA, and the rate of converting DPA to DHA was 79.8%. These results throw light on the potential industrial production of specific polyunsaturated fatty acids through IsFAD4 transgenic yeast or oil crops.

전력선통신과 인터넷을 이용한 원격제어 및 검침구현 (Development of Telemetering and Control system using PLC and Web)

  • 전력선 통신을 이용한 기존의 원격검침 시스템은 설치가 복잡하고 비용이 많이 든다. 현대 국내의 대부분의 아파트 및 다세대주택에 인터넷사업자에 의하여 이미 상용화된 인터넷망이 구축되어 있음에 따라 전력회사의 독자적인 네트워크장비가 아닌 인터넷 사업자에 의하여 펼쳐진 인터넷망을 이용하여 저속 전력선통신 모뎀과 웹서버와의 연결로서 저가이고 구조가 간단하여 시스템의 구성이 간편한 원격검침 및 원격제어 시스템 구성을 목적으로 총 2가지의 하드웨어와 2가지의 소프트웨어를 설계 및 제작하였다.

  • 사이버 교육은 디지털 시대에 사회 전 분야에 걸쳐서 진행되고 있는 지식 축적 속도의 가속화에 따른 재교육과 평생교육의 수요를 효과적으로 수용할 수 있다는 점에서 앞으로 수요자 중심의 새로운 교육방법으로서 21세기 주요 교육체제로 정착될 전망이다. 그러나 상호 작용을 제대로 하기 위한 인력 부족 등으로 인한 피드백의 지연, 읽기와 쓰기 위주의 수업환경으로 인한 특정학생에게 불리한 방식, 그리고 컴퓨터 기술에 기반을 두고 있어 관련 기술이 부족한 학생에게 불리한 점 등 많은 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 최근 대학 교육 패러다임의 전환 요구와 함께 사이버교육이 급격하게 요구받고 있는 실정에서 사이버 교육에서 학습자의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석해 보고, 대학 사이버 교육의 개선방향을 제시해보고자 하였다.

대학생의 나트륨 관련 영양지식과 식행동 및 나트륨 급원식품 섭취빈도 조사 (Survey on Nutrition Knowledge, Food Behaviors, and Food Frequency of Sodium Intake in Korean University Students)

  • This study was performed for the purpose of establishing proper dietary behaviors and improving sodium intake status by investigating nutrition knowledge, dietary behaviors, and food intake frequency related to sodium in 398 university students living in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon. Female students showed a higher rate of eating out more than five times a week as well as daily snack intake than male students. Female students showed a higher score for sodium-related nutrition knowledge than male students, whereas male students showed higher sodium intake than female students. Subjects who showed a higher frequency of eating out and snack intake also showed a higher salt intake ratio and sodium-related nutrition knowledge. Subjects with higher scores related to sodium-related nutrition knowledge showed a higher low salt intake ratio and incidence of low sodium food intake. From this research, depending on the level of nutrition knowledge related to sodium university students showed differences in dietary behavior related to sodium intake. This result would be helpful to develop lower sodium training materials specific to low sodium food selection tips, reading nutrition labels, and so on.
