Purpose: Previous studies rarely investigated the effects of the metacognitive reading strategies on reading engagement, particularly in globalized higher education, while those studies examined reading problems and engagement with lower reading level. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the metacognitive reading strategies including global reading, problem solving, and supporting reading on reading engagement that include argentic, behavior, emotional, and cognitive engagement in global learning environment. This study investigated research questions: how do global reading, problem solving, and supporting reading strategies affect argentic, behavior, emotional, and cognitive reading engagement? Research design, Data, and methodology: This study collected data via online survey in globalized learning environment. This study applied statistical analyses, such as factor and regression analyses and ANOVA. Results: The results of this study showed that metacognitive reading strategies had significant effects on student reading engagement while they were reading class materials in English for academic purposes. Conclusions: This study provides managerial implications in higher education by providing better strategies to enhance learning skills in global context. In particular, this study provides implications that the effects of problem solving and supporting strategies could be improved by adopting better management systems in globalized education.

현하 한국대학생들의 독서율이 점차 저하되고 있다. 독서부진의 제반 요인을 여러 부분에서 진단, 고찰하고, 독서저해요인을 추출함으로써 독서생활을 조장하고 독서율을 향상시키는 방안을 강구하고자 한다. 특히 본 연구에서는 대학생들의 독서철학 확립을 위한 논의를 정리하고, 또한 대학생 독서부진 해결을 위한 교육제도적 방안으로서 독서학점부과제도 또는 독서인증제도의 필요성을 강조하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness and value of reading, the role of reading for character building and reading education for the character building instruction. A great book can change a person's life and future. Especially, reading in the juvenile period is important because of their intellectual curiosity and sensitivity. The results of the study were as follows. (1) In order to solve the problem of the dehumanization, and the confusion of the sense of value among young adults, we should enrich and cultivate the character of young adults through the reading education. (2) The effects of reading for personality are verbal effects, experimental effects, cultural effects, reformational effects and recreational effects etc. (3) The value of reading in the past were inspiration, information and recreation. But, in recent times, the interest in therapeutic value of reading is increasing. The theraputic value of reading is identification, catharsis and insights of one's problem through the character in the works. (4) The role of reading for the character building are the assistance of self-realization, the promotion of self-regulation and the assistance of self-understanding. (5) Psychological needs causing reading activity are the desire to escape from reality, better socialization, recreation and pleasure. (6) The mechanism of character building through the reading are the enlargement of experience, better adjustment to the environment and the society. (7) Reading education for the solution of developmental tasks of the young adults is important. The standard reading lists of Japan Reading Society, the list compiled by Lee Kyung-Sik and the list of Park Yong Doo are the example of the selected reading list for the solution of developmental tasks.

독서능력은 학생의 문제해결능력과 자기주도 학습능력 그리고 평생학습능력을 위한 핵심능력이며, 학습독서는 자원기반학습이나 탐구기반학습을 통해서 이루어진다. 본 연구에서는 학습독서의 한 방법으로서 통합교육과정을 제시하고 있는데, 이 방법은 교과교사와의 협력을 통해서 완성된다. 특히 본 연구에서는 통합교육과정과 협동수업을 위한 구체적인 학습모형으로서 독서기반 정보문제 해결모형을 소개한다.

본 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 읽기불안감과 영어성취도에 따른 읽기전략의 사용에 관한 연구이다. 총 86명의 학생이 연구에 참여하였고 읽기 전략[9]과 읽기 불안감[10]에 관한 설문지를 작성하였다. 수거된 설문지는 SPSS 21을 사용하여 정량적 방법으로 분석되어졌다. 본 연구결과로는 영어성취도에 따른 읽기전략으로 상급과 중급은 문제해결 읽기전략이 높았고, 반면에 초급은 총체적 읽기전략이 높았다. 읽기불안에 따른 읽기전략의 관계에서 상관관계는 보이지 않았으나, 불안감이 높은 그룹과 낮은 그룹 간에 약간의 차이점이 나타났다. 불안감이 높은 그룹은 읽기내용에서 단서나 자료 이용하는 전략이나 이해의 어려움이 있을 때 더 내용에 집중하는 전략을 선호하였고 불안감이 낮은 그룹은 독해 도중 집중력을 잃었을 때는 다시 돌아와서 읽는 전략, 읽는 속도를 조절하거나 읽는 내용의 이해에 신중을 기하는 전략을 선호하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 시사점과 제한점을 토론하였다.

이 연구는 과학 읽기 자료를 이용한 협력적 문제해결 중심 과학 수업이 초등학교 학생들의 과학 읽기 능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구 대상은 초등학교 5학년으로 실험집단은 과학 읽기 자료를 이용한 협력적 문제해결 중심 과학 수업을 실시하였고 비교집단은 교과서에 바탕을 둔 과학 수업을 실시하였으며 과학 읽기 능력 검사지, 모둠별 논의과정 녹음본과 수업 녹화본을 수집하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 과학 읽기 자료를 이용한 협력적 문제해결 중심 과학 수업은 초등학교 학생들의 과학 읽기 능력의 향상에 효과가 있었다. 과학 읽기 능력 검사 결과, 총점 및 3개 하위 요소 모두에서 실험집단은 비교집단보다 통계적으로 유의미하게 높게 나타났으며, 특히 높은 수준의 인지 과정에 속하는 '성찰 및 평가'와 '통합 및 해석'이 큰 비율로 증가하였다. 학생들은 이 수업에서 교사가 제시한 자료를 읽고 읽은 내용을 바탕으로 논의에 참여하며, 읽은 내용과 읽기 과정에 대한 반성을 하게 된다. 이러한 과정에서 학생들의 과학 읽기 능력이 향상된 것으로 보인다.

In this paper, we propose a method that acquires proper image for barcode reading on camera-based barcode reading system. In the camera system, there is serious blurring problem, and to get proper output of the barcode, it must be solved. To solve it, we proposed two methods. The first one is to make the camera movable, so it can change the distance of focus. The other is software approach, and threshold value is revised through regression analysis. Using such process, we can notice that blurring problem can be overcome.

Recently, the problem of hypoxia caused by jogging is attracting attention. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a new solution. This paper proved that as a vocalization method of reading aloud, it is possible to increase air intake and activate lung function to exchange more air and obtain more oxygen. Then, blood oxygen saturation was used as an evaluation index for the body's oxygen content level to prove its effectiveness. A photoelectric pulse oximeter developed on the basis of different light absorption principles in blood was used to test blood oxygen saturation. Experimental results show that a certain degree of hypoxia is induced when a lot of oxygen is required due to jogging. Therefore, it was proved that the new vocal breathing method by reading books can increase the blood oxygen saturation of the body and improve the hypoxia of the body. Reading vocal breathing is a simple and efficient oxygen saturation recovery breathing method.

지금까지의 독서교육은 교수-학습 활동과 연계되지 못한 채 별개의 것으로 인식되어 왔으며, 독서의 본질적인 측면보다는 독서자료의 제공이나 책을 다 읽고 난 후의 표현 활동에 치중하여 왔다는 문제점이 있다. 이에 본고에서는 교과학습과 독서 활동을 연계하고, 독서자료의 접근은 물론 실제 책을 읽는 인지적 활동 그리고 책을 읽고 난 다음의 표현 활동을 종합적으로 수행할 수 있는 웹 기반 독서교육 시스템을 설계, 제안하였다. 북어드벤처, 썬링크등 기존의 독서교육 시스템을 분석하여 웹 기반독서교육시스템의 요구사항을 도출하고, 이를 바탕으로 시스템을 설계, 제안하였다. 제안한 웹 기반의 독서교육시스템은 독서안내, 나의 독서수준, 책 고르기, 독서 전략, 독서표현, 독서토론 등 6개의 메뉴로 구성되어 있다.

다양한 멀티미디어와 정보통신 기술의 발달로 인하여 국내 대학도서관들의 도서대출량이 급감하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 대학생들의 독서량도 급감하고 있다. 이에 대학도서관들은 교양학습의 중심으로 교양독서 진흥을 위한 다양한 행사를 진행하고 있지만 대학생들에게 실질적인 도움이 되지 못하고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 현재 국내에서 활발하게 독서행사를 실시하고 있는 4개의 대학도서관을 대상으로 벤치마킹하였다. 결과에 의하면 교양필독서로 추천된 도서는 대학교육시스템 속에서 의무적으로 읽을 수 있는 방안이 적당하고, 도서관 독서행사로는 내적인 동기부여를 할 수 있는 독서토론이 효과적이며, 독서교육에는 글쓰기를 통하여 개인의 직접 경험과 독서 경험을 일체화 시킬 수 있는 방법이 바람직하다. 이를 위해서 대학생들에게 독서지도를 담당할 사서들의 독서력이 필요하다.
