In RFID field, when the neighboring readers try to occupy the same or adjacent channel simultaneously, there exists reader-to-reader interference; it calls reader collision. From the reader collision, the tags cannot response correctly query from the reader. Reader anti-collision schemes have been developed, and particularly, the Listen-Before-Talk(LBT) scheme is proposed to avoid reader collision in ETSI in multi channel environment. However, in ETSI, there is a drawback that the reader collision does not decreases effectively because the reader selects randomly a channel without considering the channel environment and readers try to occupy the channel concurrently. In this paper, we propose a algorithm based on LBT scheme considering multi channel environment as well as made up for the drawbacks of LBT The proposed algorithm applies random backoff, the collision avoidance mechanism. And it can reduce delay because of our proposed estimation mechanism Simulation using OPNET shows that the proposed algorithm achieves higher superiority than that of the simple algorithms in sparse and dense reader mode.

An anti-collision protocol which tries to minimize the collision probability and identification time is the most important factor in all identification technologies. This paper focuses on methods to improve the efficiency of tag's process in identification systems. Our scheme, Binary Slotted Query Tree (BSQT) algorithm, is a memoryless protocol that identifies an object's ID more efficiently by removing the unnecessary prefixes of the traditional Query Tree (QT) algorithm. With enhanced QT algorithm, the reader will broadcast 1 bit and wait the response from the tags but the difference in this scheme is the reader will listen in 2 slots (slot 1 is for 0 bit Tags and slot 2 is for 1 bit Tags). Base on the responses the reader will decide next broadcasted bit. This will help for the reader to remove some unnecessary broadcasted bits which no tags will response. Numerical and simulation results show that the proposed scheme decreases the tag identification time by reducing the overall number of request.

This paper proposes a novel anti-collision protocol for large-scale RFID tags identification, named Bi-response Collision Tree Protocol (BCT). In BCT, two group of tags answer the reader's same query in two response-cycles respectively and independently according to the bi-response pattern. BCT improves the RFID tag identification performance significantly by decreasing the query cycles and the bits transmitted by the reader and tags during the identification. Computation and simulation results indicate that BCT improves the RFID tag identification performance effectively, e.g. the tag identification speed is improved more than 13.0%, 16.9%, and 22.9% compared to that of Collision Tree Protocol (CT), M-ary Collision Tree Protocol (MCT), and Dual Prefix Probe Scheme (DPPS) respectively when tags IDs are distributed uniformly.
In this paper, we used the inter-bit noise detection method in order to reduce the effects of noise light in a visible light identification system that uses a visible LED as a carrier source. A visible light identification system consists of a reader and a transponder. When the enable signal from the reader is detected, the transponder encodes the response data in RZ(Return-to-Zero) bit stream and sends response signal by modulating a visible LED. The reader detects the response signal mixed with noise light, samples the noise voltage in each blank low time between data bits of the RZ signal, and recovers the original data by subtracting the sampled noise from the received signal. In experiments, we improved the signal-to-noise ratio by 20dB using the inter-bit noise detection method.
This paper examines Korean EFL high school students' reader responses on an expository text and a narrative text with the same topic. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether they have different reading models depending on the two genres and whether there are any differences depending on the learners' proficiency levels. The analysis focuses on textual, critical, and aesthetic reading models in the reader responses written in English by science-gifted high school students (N=30). The results show that the participants have different reading models in reading an expository text and a narrative text. They tend to read the expository text in a more critical way while reading the narrative text in a more personal and emotional way. Moreover, regardless of the proficiency levels, they wrote longer responses on the narrative text than the expository text. However, the proficiency level of English does not support any significant differences in the types of reading models. The findings provide Korean EFL high school students' characteristics in L2 reading and suggest the pedagogical implication to pursue linguistic development as well as reading for pleasure.

When an RFID reader attempts to read the tags, interference might occur if the neighboring readers also attempt to communicate with the same tag at the same time or the neighboring readers use the same frequency simultaneously. These interferences cause the RFID reader collision. When the RFID reader collision occurs, either the command from the reader cannot be transmitted to the tags or the response of the tags cannot receive to the reader correctly, Therefore, the international standard for RFID and some papers proposed the methods to reduce the reader collision. Among those, Colorwave and Enhanced Colorwave is the reader anti-collision algorithm using the frame slotted ALOHA based a TDM(Time Division Multiplex) and are able to reduce the reader collision because theses change the frame size according to a collision probability. However, these can generate the reader collisions or interrupt the tag reading of other readers because the reader that collides with another reader randomly chooses a new slot in the frame. In this paper, we propose a new RFID reader anti-collision algorithm that each reader monitors the slots in the frame and chooses the slot having the minimum occupation probability when the reader collision occurs. Then we analyze the performance of the proposed algorithm using simulation tool.

The most important mission of RFID reader is identify EPC (Electronic Product Code) of RFID tag of products that located within distinguishable range of RFID reader. RFID reader transmits query message to RFID tags through wireless channel and RFID tags send unique EPC to response its query message simultaneously. therefore tag collision occurred frequently. RFID tags collision resolution algorithm required to apply RFID technology to various industries. In this paper, we propose enhanced M-ary algorithm that collision bits location is used by not only RFID reader but also tags. the main feature of the proposed algorithm is that integrate multiple query message of M-ary QT algorithm to the single query message by analyze multiple response messages from tags. the simulation results show that the proposed algorithm give better performance than M-ary QT algorithm in terms of the number of query-response, identification efficiency and communication overhead.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is one of the most promising air interface technologies in the future for object identification using radio wave. If there are multiple tags within the range of the RFID tag reader, all tags send their tag identifications to the reader at the same time in response to the reader's query. This causes collisions on the reader and no tag is identified. A multi-tag identification problem is a core issue in the RFID. It can be solved by anti-collision algorithm such as slot based ALHOA algorithms and tree based algorithms. This paper, proposes a collision tree based anti-collision algorithm using collision tree in RFID system. It is a memory-less algorithm and is an efficient RFID anti-collision mechanism. The collision tree is a mechanism that can solve multi-tag identification problem. It is created in the process of querying and responding between the reader and tags. If the reader broadcasts K bits of prefix to multiple tags, all tags with the identifications matching the prefix transmit the reader the identifications consisted of k+1 bit to last. According to the simulation result, a proposed collision tree based anti-collision algorithm shows a better performance compared to tree working algorithm and query tree algorithm.

Objective: To measure inter-reader agreement and identify associated factors in interpreting complete response (CR) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) following chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for rectal cancer. Materials and Methods: This retrospective study involved 10 readers from seven hospitals with experience of 80-10210 cases, and 149 patients who underwent surgery after CRT for rectal cancer. Using MRI-based tumor regression grading (mrTRG) and methods employed in daily practice, the readers independently assessed mrTRG, CR on T2-weighted images (T2WI) denoted as mrCRT2W, and CR on all images including diffusion-weighted images (DWI) denoted as mrCRoverall. The readers described their interpretation patterns and how they utilized DWI. Inter-reader agreement was measured using multi-rater kappa, and associated factors were analyzed using multivariable regression. Correlation between sensitivity and specificity of each reader was analyzed using Spearman coefficient. Results: The mrCRT2W and mrCRoverall rates varied widely among the readers, ranging 18.8%-40.3% and 18.1%-34.9%, respectively. Nine readers used DWI as a supplement sequence, which modified interpretations on T2WI in 2.7% of cases (36/1341 [149 patients × 9 readers]) and mostly (33/36) changed mrCRT2W to non-mrCRoverall. The kappa values for mrTRG, mrCRT2W, and mrCRoverall were 0.56 (95% confidence interval: 0.49, 0.62), 0.55 (0.52, 0.57), and 0.54 (0.51, 0.57), respectively. No use of rectal gel, larger initial tumor size, and higher initial cT stage exhibited significant association with a higher interreader agreement for assessing mrCRoverall (P ≤ 0.042). Strong negative correlations were observed between the sensitivity and specificity of individual readers (coefficient, -0.718 to -0.963; P ≤ 0.019). Conclusion: Inter-reader agreement was moderate for assessing CR on post-CRT MRI. Readers' varying standards on MRI interpretation (i.e., threshold effect), along with the use of rectal gel, initial tumor size, and initial cT stage, were significant factors associated with inter-reader agreement.

Cerebral atrophy affects the brain and is a common feature of patients with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's diseases. It is evaluated by the radiologist or reader based on patient's history, age and the space between the brain and the skull as indicated by magnetic resonance (MR) images. A total of 70 patients were scanned in the supine and prone positions before three radiologist assessed their atrophy level. This study examined the radiologist's assessment of the cerebral atrophy level using a graded response model of item response theory (IRT). A graded response model (GRM) is fitted to our data and then item-fit and person-fit statistics are evaluated to assess the fitted model. Our analysis found that the cerebral atrophy level is better discriminated by readers in the prone position because all item slopes were greater than 2 at this position, versus the supine position where all the slope parameters were less than 1. However, the thresholds are very similar for the first reader and are quite different for the second and third readers because the scanning position affects readers differently as the category threshold estimates vary considerably between the readers..
