  • In this paper, we purpose requirement capturing for RSS reader that be able to aggregate and subscribe to a RSS format document and describing for analysis model. We execute requirement analysis and documentation by using analysis model which is adopted use case model. And the method of requirement analysis is based on Responsibility Driven Design. Analysis model that is not premised on special reader is able to use business model.

  • RFID reader platform with self-diagnosis function studied in this paper has an automatic state recognition function, a report function, and an automatic upgrade function. Also, since it uses frequency operation policy in multiple reader environments, it will be frequently used in the large operation environment and multi-readers environment. Therefore, the technology can meet the demands not only in the domestic RFID market, but in the global market.

  • We developed a Java library Xeni for e-book reader systems on embedded Linux environment. Xeni is an API library providing functions such as rendering for XML-based e-book contents, navigation mechanism for readers and bookmark management. This library is developed in Java language, targeting java virtual machines on embedded Linux systems. We discuss design and structure of the developed library, and introduce the reference implementation of a reader system using this library. Also, virtual machines on Linux environment are briefly surveyed.

  • With the progress of miniaturization and high performance of various sensors, a lot of data is generated in various fields and being collected in real-time, but the use of such large-capacity data is often unable to keep up with the collection technology. In the medical field, health data is collected and managed by platform, which causes inconvenience to users in searching their own health data and receiving medical services. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, we designed and implemented PHDItemReader to improve the speed of data query in a batch application environment that can integrate and process health data having various data expression formats. The experiment compared and analyzed 3 types of query speed based on 1,000,000 hypothetical health data, and as a result of the experiment, it was verified that the PHDItemReader implemented in this paper improved up to about 21% compared to the existing one.

  • This paper proposes an efficient tag identification scheme for ISO/IEC18000-7 standard by dividing the tags into smaller groups. Tag grouping is based on the reader's transmission power. This can reduce the responding tags in the collection round. If the small number of tags exists, we can anticipate the collision probability will decrease. And it makes the identification speed high. A collection round initiated by the reader's collection command. It also proceeds with increasing the power of the reader until all tags are identified. The results showed that 25% of the performance improved.

  • In RFID system, Middleware collects and filters streaming data gathered continuously from readers to process applications requests. The enormous amount of data makes middleware in highly overloaded. Hence, we propose reader level filtering in order to reduce overall middleware load. In this paper, we consider reader filtering capability and define query plan to minimize number of queries for processing into middleware and reader level. We design and implement middleware system based on proposed query plan. We perform several experiments on implemented system. Our experiments show that the proposed query plan considerably improves the performance of middleware by diminishing processing time and network traffic between reader and middleware.

  • RFID applications use tags to identify objects, but recent applications tend to include diverse sensor devices such as light, temperature, and humidity sensors as well. RFID tag information is usually processed via the event driven model. However sensor devices are usually accessed via the functional call model. Therefore application developers have to deal with mixed data access models and device dependent interface functions. In this paper, we propose a sensor reader emulator that provides a consistent access interface to sensor devices regardless of the types of devices. SRE provides a more efficient way of developing RFID applications by providing a single application programmer's view to RFID tags and sensor devices. In applications where tags are fixed to a place, SRE can replace expensive sensor tags and sensor readers with inexpensive sensor devices reducing the total cost while providing the same functionality.

  • Point of care testing (POCT) is could be easily and economically performed and was widely used. In particular, the test items using immune chromatographic method has been conveniently used. But when an error occurs, we should reaffirmed the test results, but we could not reaffirm because the test line is disappeared as the time pass, and the test results are different between laboratory workers. Therefore, we developed multi-strip reader which can store images for the test results and can interpretate the test results automatically. Then we evaluated newly developed multi-strip reader for urine pregnancy test, the test results of the multi-strip reader was 100% matched with the previously results. Our newly developed multi-strip reader was convenient and economic, and will be widely used in many laboratories.
