  • This paper presents an algorithm to reduce the time to solve Power Equations using a Neural Net. The Neural Net is trained with samples obtained through the conventional AC Load Flow. With these samples, the Neural Net is constructed and has the function of a linear interpolation network. Given arbitrary load level, this Neural Net generates voltage magnitudes and angles which are linear interpolation of real and reactive powers. Obtained voltage magnitudes and angles are substituted to Power Equations, Real and reactive powers are found. Thus, a new sample is generated. This new experience modifies weight matrix. Continuing to modify the weight matrix, the correct solution is achieved. comparing this method with AC Load flow, this method is faster. If we consider parallel processing, this method is far faster than conventional ones.

  • ITO films were deposited on polyethylene terephthalate substrate by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering using rf bias without substrate heater and post-deposition thermal treatment. The dependency of rf substrate bias on plasma sputter processing was investigated to control energetic particles and improve ITO film properties. The substrate was applied negative rf bias voltage from 0 to -80 V. The composition of indium, tin, and oxygen atoms is strongly depended on the rf substrate bias. Oxygen deficiency is the highest at rf bias of -20 V. The electrical and optical properties of ITO films also are dominated obviously by negative rf bias.

  • Reactively magnetron sputtered TiN films were deposited on Si wafers under varying bias voltage and characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy and Nanoindentation. The films deposited under an Ar + $N_2$ atmosphere exhibited a mixed (200)-(111) orientation with a strong (200) texture, which subsequently changed to a strong (111) texture with increasing bias voltage. The changes in texture and grain size of the TiN thin films are due to one or a combination of factors such as strain energy, surface free energy, surface diffusivity and adatom mobility. The influence of each factor depends on the processing conditions. The average deposition rate and grain size were calculated from FE-SEM images of the films indicating that the deposition rate was lower at the films deposited under bias voltage.

  • The infiltration of ceramics by liquid metals to fabricate ceramic-metal composites is discussed. In particular, the complexity of infiltrating ceramics by liquid metals at high temperatures due to interfacial reactions, metal oxidation, pore modulation and closure, and transient capillary forces has been highlighted. The role of these factors is discussed in the context of reactive infiltration with examples from ceramic/metal composites of practical interest. In addition to flow through porous ceramics, reactive penetration of dense ceramics via chemical dissolution and reaction is also discussed.

  • The synthesis of carbon nitride thin films with high nitrgen concentration was accomplished by reactive supttering at relatively high working pressure. In conventional reactive sputter-deposition of carbon nitride films, working pressure was 0.3-5Pa and the ratio of nitrogen to carbon(N/C ratio) in the films was less than 0.5. In this study, amorphous carbon nitride films with the N/C ratio $\tickapprox$ 1.0 were prepared on Si(100). substrates at higher pressure, 20-60 Pa. Structural analyses with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the films prepared consisted of triazine-like plain network.

  • PbTio3 is a promising material with perovskite structure for pyroelectric sensor applications with its superior pyroelectric properties, low dielectric constants, and low piezoelectric constants. Growth of pyroelectric thin films in general, needs relatively higher temperatures than those of conventional Si semiconductor processing However, low growth temperature is advantageous for the device integration. We report the low temperature (350$^{\circ}C$) growth of PbTio3 thin films by 3-gun DC magnetron reactive sputtering. The effects of substrate temperature, Pb-flux, and total pressure on crystalinity and preferred orientation of PbTio3 thin films are reported.

  • Reactive oxygen species play critical role in kidney damage. Free radical-scavenging activities of Panax ginseng are known to be increased by heat-processing. The structural change of ginsenoside and the generation of Maillard reaction products (MRPs) are closely related to the increased free radical-scavenging activities. In the present study, we have demonstrated the Maillard reaction model experiment using ginsenoside Re and glycine mixture to identify the renoprotective effect of MRPs from ginseng or ginsenosides. Ginsenoside Re was transformed into less-polar ginsenosides, namely Rg2, Rg6 and F4 by heat-processing. The free radical-scavenging activity of ginsenoside Re-glycine mixture was increased in a temperature-dependant manner by heatprocessing. The improved free radical-scavenging activity by heat-processing was mediated by the generation of antioxidant MRPs which led to the protection of LLC-PK1 renal epithelial cells from oxidative stress. Although the free radical scavenging activities of less-polar ginsenosides were weak, they could protect LLC-PK1 cells from oxidative stress. Therefore, MRPs and less-polar ginsenosides contributed to the combined renoprotective effects against oxidative renal damage.

  • Recently, there have been a lot of works trying to realize automated composition of semantic web services though application of AI planning techniques. The traditional AI planning techniques, however, have some limitations: it is not easy to represent a web service process with complex control constructs as an action or a plan; it is hardly possible to consider enough the rich information contained in domain ontologies during the planning process; it is impossible to model directly the data flow from the outputs of a web service to the inputs of another web service; it is difficult to predict and deal with uncertainty and dynamics of the environment because the plan generation phase is supposed to be separated from the plan execution phase. In order to overcome some of these limitations, this paper suggests a reactive planning approach to automated composition of semantic web services. Through some experiments using several e-commerce web services, we found that the reactive planning is an effective way to realize automated composition of semantic web services.

  • A total of 37 bacterial isolates were obtained from dye-contaminated soil samples at a textile processing factory in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, and the potential of the isolates to decolorize and biotransform azo dye Reactive Red 141 (RR141) was investigated. The most potent bacterium was identified as Paenibacillus terrigena KKW2-005, which showed the ability to decolorize 96.45% of RR141 (50 mg/l) within 20 h under static conditions at pH 8.0 and a broad temperature range of 30-40℃. The biotransformation products were analyzed by using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis revealed four metabolites generated from the reductive biodegradation, namely sodium 3-diazenylnaphthalene-1,5-disulfonate (I), sodium naphthalene-2-sufonate (II), 4-chloro-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine (III) and N1-(1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) benzene-1,4-diamine (IV). Decolorization intermediates reduced phytotoxicity as compared with the untreated dye. However, they had phytotoxicity when compared with control, probably due to naphthalene and triazine derivatives. Moreover, genotoxicity testing by high annealing temperature-random amplified polymorphic DNA technique exhibited different DNA polymorphism bands in seedlings exposed to the metabolites. They compared to the bands found in seedlings subjected to the untreated dye or distilled water. The data from this study provide evidence that the biodegradation of Reactive Red 141 by P. terrigena KKW2-005 was genotoxic to the DNA seedlings.
