  • The optimal reaction conditions are determined for a PET process, which consists of transesteriflcation, prepolymerization and polycondensation reactors in series. Based on the simulation results of the reactor system, we scrutinize the cause and effect between the reaction conditions and the final properties of the polymer product. We then select the process variables with significant influence on the properties of polymer as control variables and calculate the optimal reaction conditions by iterative dynamic programming (IDP) algorithm with constraints. A new reaction scheme incorporating reactions for by-products as well as three main reactions is considered in the constrained IDP method.

  • 4,5-Diphenyl Imidazolone is synthesized from Benzoin, Urea, and Acetic acid catalyser. Nowadays, it is being used as an optical bleaching agent for wool and nylon textiles. Up to now, only one process of synthesis has been known. In order to find out the best conditions governing the yield were examined under various catalysers and conditions. In this experiment, the summary of results were as follows. a. On Acetic acid catalyser. The maximum yield conditions were mol ratio (Benzoin: Urea: Acetic acid) 1 : 2 : 14, Acetic acid concentration 99.9%. Reaction temperature 115$^{\circ}$. Under reaction time of 2 hours, above yield was 96.4%. b. On Mineral acid Catalyser. In using of Sulfonic acid, the color of solution was changed dark purlish black. With other mineral acid catalysers, in spite of increasing of temperature, it was proved that Benzoin floats on the solution, so that this reaction could not be continue. c. On Phosphoric acid catalyser. It was made clear that it can not be used for this reaction. d. On Sodium hydroxide catalyser. As one of Alkali catalyser, Sodium hydroxide was examined but this was unsuitable substance for this reaction. e. On Formic acid catalysers. The maximum yield conditions were mol ratio (Benzoin: Urea: Formic acid) 1: 2: 30. Formic acid concentration 85.%. Reaction temperature 150∼110$^{\circ}$. Under reaction time of 90 minutes, the best yield was 87%. Hereby, it was proved that organic acids such as Acetic acid and Formic acid can be used. When using Acetic acid, the yield was better than Formic acid, but it takes longer reaction time than Formic acid. • Effects of reaction conditions such as power input and feeding time and feeding mode of reactants on the reaction crystallization of lanthanum oxalate in semi-batch reactor were investigated experimentally. Even though the crystal size distribution of lanthanum oxalate was always monomodal, its mean crystal size was significantly varied with the reaction conditions. As the power input and reactant feeding rate increased, the mean crystal size was reduced and the relative induction time was prolonged. The mean crystal size produced in oxalic acid feeding mode was smaller than that in lanthanum chloride feeding mode, but the trend of the relative induction time with the feeding mode was reverse to that of the mean crystal size. The crystal morphology of lanthanum oxalate, which was produced within the ranges of the reaction conditions in our experiment, was maintained as a needle shape.

  • Separation-concentration of sulfur containing heterocyclic compounds(SCHC) from many reaction meat flavors manufactured with Maillard reaction was carried out. Profile of SCHC was identified and analyzed by GC and GC-MSD. The results were as follows. 1. Profile of SCHC could be identified 7 kinds thiazole and 11 kinds thiophene, the major produced compounds were thiophene, thiazolidine, 4-methyl-5-thiazole ethanol. 2. In the case of SCHC, relationship between changes of reaction conditions and the kind of produced components were as same, but produced amounts appeared the difference. Producing amount of complexed SCHC and caramellike note as well as oxygen containing heterocyclic compounds were high level more than high reaction temperature and long time reaction period. 3. Producing ratio of comparative simple structural SCHC were the highest level at reaction conditions of moisture content 50%, reaction temperature 100$^{\circ}C$ and reaction time 2 hours. Reaction conditions for the revelation of reaction meat flavor were below 110$^{\circ}C$ and less than 2 hours. 4. Relationship between moisture content and reaction temperature as well as reaction time had very relative relation. From the change of moisture content and reaction conditions could be obtained the simultaneously profile. Signal presentation for production of reaction meat flavor could be from extraction-separation-concentration of SCHC through simplification of raw-materials in the flavor and seasoning food industry.
