A new gerbera cultivar 'Sunny Lemon' was released by the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 2009. A cross was made between 'Pavlov' and 'Patrick' with pink and semi-double in 2006. After investigation of the characteristics for four years (from 2006 to 2009), it was selected for the use of cut flower. 'Sunny Lemon' is a vigorous cultivar with yellow flower color (RHS Y9C), brown center and semi-double. The average flower diameter is 11.0 cm. And inner ray floret and disc diameter are 7.63 cm and 2.59 cm, respectively. Days to first blooming are 84.5, approximately 2 weeks earlier than the standard cultivar. It produces a large yield with continuous supply of cut flowers and has adequate peduncle height. We believe that 'Sunny Lemon' has a great potential for expanding cultivated area of domestic gerbera cultivars and increasing farmers' income.

A new gerbera cultivar 'Whiteny' was released by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science in 2009. A cross was made between 'Wonder King' with white semi-double and 'Ever Green' with pale greenish white and semi-double in 2007. After evaluation of the characteristics for four years (from 2007 to 2010), it was selected specially for the use of cut flower. The 'Whiteny' cultivar has pure white color (RHS W155D) with black disc center and semi-double flower. The average flower diameter is 11.5 cm, large-sized flower. And inner ray floret and disc diameter are 7.8 cm and 2.2 cm, respectively. It has a long peduncle height, 52.2 cm, and longer vase life, 12.1 days. And it is also adaptable to the local cultural environment of Korea. It is expected that if the 'Whiteny' cultivar is planted, the royalty paid to foreign varieties can be saved. And the local growers will also be benefitted since the cost of cultivars will be lower than the imported ones.

A new spray chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum) cultivar "Green Witch" was developed from a cross between 'S04161' and 'S04109' by selection of seedlings and lines at the Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services (ARES) from 2004 to 2008. Its characteristics were investigated three times from 2006 to 2008 under condition of forcing culture in spring and retarding culture in autumn. The natural flowering time of "Green Witch" was October 19th, and year-round production was possible by day length treatment. Its capitulum was 3.2cm in diameter, and had 15.9 head per stem in autumn. Its ray floret was green central zone. To flower in the short day condition, for "Green Witch" was about 44 days in spring, and "Green Witch" showed the vase life of 25.3 days in autumn. This cultivar was registered for a commercialization in 2008.

A new gerbera cultivar 'Ringgo' was bred by the 'Seohaenongsan' in 2013. 'Ma' with yellow and 'Caravan' with salmon orange, which have semi-double flower, were artificially crossed in 2010. After investigation of the characteristics for four years (from 2010 to 2013), it was selected specially for the use of cut flower. The 'Ringgo' had brilliant orange color (RHS O24A) with dark brown center. The flower was semi-double and 11.1 cm in diameter. And inner ray floret and disc diameter are 6.6 cm and 2.8 cm, respectively. It is a vigorous cultivar having a long and thick peduncle of which length and upper width were 54.7 cm and 4.6 mm, respectively. The vase life of 'Harmony' was 10.1 days, which was 1.2 days longer than the standard cultivar 'Dune'. And its average yield was 55.3 stems per plant, which were 6.6 stems more than the control.

Chrysanthemum is one of the most popular ornamental plants worldwide. Recently, lots of new and novel chrysanthemum varieties have been developed using mutagenesis. However, there was no study for comparison of tissue culture condition among the mutant varieties derived from one original variety, until now. This study was conducted to compare the efficient regeneration condition of the two chrysanthemum mutant varieties, 'ARTI-purple' and 'ARTI-queen'. Two different flower parts (disk and ray florets) at the unopened and early blooming stages were used for comparison of regeneration condition on MS medium supplemented with combinations of three growth regulators (BA, NAA, and IAA). The highest regeneration rate was identified on the NAA and BA combination when the disk florets at unopened blooming stage are used. The best optimum combinations of growth regulators were identified as NAA $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and BA $0.5mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ at 'ARTI-purple', which displayed 47.9% regeneration. However, regeneration of 'ARTI-queen' was the highest as 25.6% at NAA $2.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ and BA $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$. There results indicate that there is a difference for the optimum regeneration condition between the mutant varieties derived from one original variety. These results will be useful for construction of efficient regeneration system of diverse chrysanthemum mutants developed by mutation breeding.

A new bright yellow gerbera (Gerbera hybrida Hort.) cultivar, 'Joyful', was released by the Flower Research Institute of Gyeongsangnam-do Agricultural Research & Extension Service in 2013. 'Joyful' was developed in Changwon from 2005 to 2006 and is a cross between 'Chowoo', a semi-double type gerbera cultivar with yellow-orange colored flowers, and 'Focus', a semi-double type cultivar with yellow colored flowers. The characteristics trials for selection were conducted from 2007 to 2009. 'Joyful' has large, semi-double type flowers with yellow (RHS, 12-A) ray florets and a brown central part. It also has a stable flower shape, strong peduncles, and a vase life of 12.8 days. The average flower yield of 'Joyful' was determined in greenhouse trials carried out from 2008 to 2010 and is 49.2 stems per plant per year. 'Joyful' was demonstrated to be a new cultivar based on ploidy tests and RAPD analysis and was registered (Grant No. 4574) to the Korea Seed and Variety Service (KSVS) for commercialization in 2013.

A new orange-colored, cut flower gerbera (Gerbera hybrida Hort.) cultivar 'Sweety' was developed from a cross between 'Grandeur' and 'Songsongee', followed by selections of seedlings and lines at the Flower Breeding Research Institute, Gyeongnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services (ARES) from 1999 to 2004. Three time evaluations were conducted from 2003 for the detailed characteristics of the new cultivar. 'Sweety' has semi-double type mini- or medium-sized flowers in good harmony with orange(RHS, 38-A) ray florets and a green center. It has good, stable flower shape and strong peduncle, and its vase life was 10.4 days. The average flower yield was about 51.0 stems per plant/year in greenhouse trails during 2003 and 2004. This cultivar was registered to the Korea Seed and Variety Service for commercialization in 2006. Year-round production of this cultivar is possible in the greenhouse condition in Korean climate.

A New bicolor standard rose (Rose hybrida Hort.) cultivar were developed by line selection in 2000 at the Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam ARES. Characteristics were investigated three times from 2003 to 2006 "Grandking" was crossed between 'Bixa' and 'Red Sandra' and it has a red-group color (RHS No. 52A), few thorns and standard large flower with a good harmony between ray floret and flower center. The vase life of cut flower was 12.8 days. The major characteristics of this variety are 228 stems/$m^2$/year in yield, 77.4 cm in length of cut flower, 9.0 cm in flower diameter, and 36.1 in petal number. It was registered as commercial cultivar in 2006. These new variety could be planted in almost greenhouse production region of Korea.

Its characteristics were investigated three times from 2006 to 2008 under condition of forcing culture in spring and retarding culture in autumn. The natural flowering time of 'Magic Yellow' was October 18th, and year-round production was possible by day length treatment. This cultivar has single-type flowers in good harmony with bi-color ray floret and green center. Its flower was 6.0 cm in diameter, and it had 11.4 flowers per stem in autumn. The days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 45 days in spring season, and 'Magic Yellow' showed the vase life of 22.9 days in autumn. This cultivar was registered for the protection in 2008.

A new gerbera cultivar 'Paspin' was released by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 2009. A cross was made between 'Lilabella' and 'Mephisto' with purple and semi-double in 2005. After investigation of the characteristics for five years (from 2005 to 2009), it was selected specially as a cut flower. The 'Paspin' cultivar has a pastel pink flower color (RHS R52B) with green disc center and semi-double flower. It has large-sized flowers which average flower diameter is about 12.8 cm. And inner ray floret and disc diameters are 7.87 cm and 2.57 cm, respectively. It has an adequate peduncle height of 48.6 cm, and a longer vase life of 10.8 days. It is vigorous in growth and also adaptable to the local cultural environments of Korea. It is expected that if the 'Paspin' cultivar will be planted, the royalty fees to be paid to other countries can be saved. And the local growers will also be benefitted since the cost of cultivars will be lower than the imported ones.
