We construct various examples of simply connected minimal complex surfaces of general type with $p_g=0$ and $K^2=1,2$ using ${\mathbb{Q}}$-Gorenstein smoothing method.

Current design methods as well as the majority of the previous researches for shear strength of the reinforced concrete are based on empirical method. There is a need to propose the rational models based on analytical approach. This paper presents the modified strut-and-tie model for reinforced concrete columns, under axial compression, shear, and flexural moment, considering tensile strength of concrete. Using this model, the strength and the failure mode of R/C columns are investigated, and the proposed models are compared with test data available in the literature.

The shrinkage mechanism of high strength concrete is different from that of normal concrete. The shrinkage of normal concrete is subjected to evaporate moisture in concrete, but most shrinkage in high strength concrete is caused by chemical reaction. To analyze shrinkage of concrete exactly, it is necessary to divide drying shrinkage with autogenous shrinkage in terms of degree of hydration, especially in concrete with low W/C ratio. The proposed method can provide a rational basis for prediction of shrinkage in high strength concrete structure.

Transmission pricing is one of important issues related to competitive electricity markets since rational pricing scheme ensures a fair competition between the market participants. Any application of marginal pricing method to transmission pricing may accompany revenue reconciliation to recover Transco's revenue requirements. This paper presents an alternative methodology on revenue reconciliation with customer benefit function and power flow.

This paper presents the method of 3D reconstruction of the depth information from the endoscopic stereo scopic images. After camera modeling to find camera parameters, we performed feature-point based stereo matching to find depth information. Acquired some depth information is finally 3D reconstructed using the NURBS(Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) algorithm. The final result image is helpful for the understanding of depth information visually.

This study presents a optimization of structure, in which constraints contain the conditions of stress and serviceability, while the sequential linear programming method (SLP) is used as a rational approach. The optimum design results contained on the limit state constraints are compared with those obtained by the only stress and ministry of construction enacted standard plans. A simple slab bridge is analysed numerically for illustration of the structural optimization. It may be asserted that serviceability constraints is very important to a structure design.

We present an application of the variational multiscale methodology to the computation of concentric annular pipe flow. Isogeometric analysis is utilized for higher order approximation of the solution using Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) functions. The ability of NURBS to exactly represent curved geometries makes NURBS-based isogeometric analysis attractive for the application to the flow through the curved channel.

In this paper, optimum design is considered over the retaining wall with seismic constraints. The sequential linear programming method(SLP) is used as a rational approach to this optimum design. To make a comparison between the seismic design and the normal design, retaining wall with 4~7m height were adopted. It is shown that the seismic design is more expensive (over 30%) than the normal design for the construction cost.

This paper is mainly concerned with the characteristics of precision stop on the automatic operating for the train car. Recently, the automatic operation of train car and the PSD establishment inside the subway are magnified. Consequently, the importance and necessity of characteristic of train car precision position stop are augmented. It researches the characteristic of precision position stop when the train car is operated with automatically and plans the safe operation of train car and the method of maintenance which is rational.
