In the present study, a finite strip method for the vibration and stability analyses of anisotropic laminated composite plates is developed according to the higher-order shear deformation theory. This theory accounts for the parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains through the thickness of the plate and for zero transverse shear stresses on the plate surfaces. In comparison with the finite strip method based on the first-order shear deformation theory, the present method gives improved results for very thick plates while using approximately the same number of degrees of freedom. It also eliminates the need for shear correction factors in calculating the transverse shear stiffness. A number of numerical examples are presented to show the effect of aspect ratio, length-to-thickness ratio, number of plies, fibre orientation and stacking sequence on the natural frequencies and critical buckling loads of simply supported rectangular cross-ply and arbitrary angle-ply composite laminates.
The natural vibration analysis of microbeams resting on visco-Pasternak's foundation is presented. The thermoelasticity theory of Green and Naghdi without energy dissipation as well as the classical Euler-Bernoulli's beam theory is used for description of natural frequencies of the microbeam. The generalized thermoelasticity model is used to obtain the free vibration frequencies due to the coupling equations of a simply-supported microbeam resting on the three-parameter viscoelastic foundation. The fundamental frequencies are evaluated in terms of length-to-thickness ratio, width-to-thickness ratio and three foundation parameters. Sample natural frequencies are tabulated and plotted for sensing the effect of all used parameters and to investigate the visco-Pasternak's parameters for future comparisons.
In this paper, hyperbolic shear deformation theory is used for free vibration analysis of piezoelectric rectangular plate made of porous core. Various types of porosity distributions for the porous material is used. To obtain governing equations of motion, Hamilton's principle is used. The Navier's method is used to obtain numerical results of the problem in terms of significant parameters. One can conclude that free vibration responses are changed significantly with change of important parameters such as various porosities and dimensionless geometric parameters such as thickness to side length ratio and ratio of side lengths.
This present article represents the study of the forced vibration of nanobeam of a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNTs) surrounded by a polymer matrix. The modeling was done according to the Euler-Bernoulli beam model and with the application of the non-local continuum or elasticity theory. Particulars cases of the local elasticity theory have also been studied for comparison. This model takes into account the different effects of the interaction of the Winkler's type elastic medium with the nanobeam of carbon nanotubes. Then, a study of the influence of the amplitude distribution and the frequency was made by variation of some parameters such as (scale effect ($e_0{^a}$), the dimensional ratio or aspect ratio (L/d), also, bound to the mode number (N) and the effect of the stiffness of elastic medium ($K_w$). The results obtained indicate the dependence of the variation of the amplitude and the frequency with the different parameters of the model, besides they prove the local effect of the stresses.
In current study, utilizing the Kelvin's theory with polynomial, exponential and trigonometric volume fraction laws for functionally graded cylindrical shell vibrations. Effects of different parameters for ratios of length- and height-to-radius and angular speed versus fundamental natural frequencies been determined for two categories of cylindrical shells with clamped-free edge condition. By increasing different value of height-to-radius ratio, the resulting backward and forward frequencies increase and frequencies decrease on increasing length-to-radius ratio. Moreover, on increasing the rotating speed, the backward frequencies increases and forward frequencies decreases. The frequencies are same when the cylinder is stationary. The frequencies increases and decreases on changing the constituent materials. The frequency results are verified with the earlier literature for the applicability of present model.

Equilibrium equations of a porous FG plate resting on Winkler-Pasternak foundations with various boundary conditions are derived using a new refined shear deformation theory. Different types of porosity distribution rate are considered. Governing equations are obtained including the plate-foundation interaction. This new model meets the nullity of the transverse shear stress at the upper and lower surfaces of the plate. The novel rule of mixture is proposed to describe and approximate material properties of the FG plates with different distribution case of porosity. The validity of this theory is studied by comparing some of the present results with other higher-order theories reported in the literature. Effects of variation of porosity distribution rate, boundary conditions, foundation parameter, power law index, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratio on the deflections and stresses are all discussed.

Slurry clay has much higher water content than liquid limit of clay and even if small loads apply, it suffers a great settlement. Accordingly it is very difficult to perform a general consolidation test about slurry clay because of high water content. In this study consolidation tests have been performed successfully using Rowe Cell Tester about 1 remolding clay and 3 slurry clays with a water content of 100%, 133% and 150%. From the test results compression index characteristics, secondary compression index characteristics and consolidation coefficient characteristics have been investigated about slurry clay and remolding clay. Also two kinds of theory, by Terzaghi theory and by Mikasa theory, has been used to calculate consolidation coefficients. Compared to the calculation results, they had a similar value of consolidation coefficient. However if Mikasa theory is applied in the field design, the period which reach to the required consolidation degree will be much reduced compared to the period by Terzaghi theory because the time coefficient T$\_$v/ by Mikasa theory is far smaller than T$\_$v/ by Terzaghi theory.

Using the hyperbolic shear deformation plate model and including plate-foundation interaction (Winkler and Pasternak model), an analytical method in order to determine the deflection and stress distributions in simply supported rectangular functionally graded plates (FGP) subjected to a sinusoidal load, a temperature and moisture fields. The present theory exactly satisfies stress boundary conditions on the top and the bottom of the plate. No transversal shear correction factors are needed because a correct representation of the transversal shearing strain is given. Materials properties of the plate (elastic, thermal and moisture expansion coefficients) are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Numerical examples are presented and discussed for verifying the accuracy of the present theory in predicting the bending response of FGM plates under sinusoidal load and a temperature field as well as moisture concentration. The effects of material properties, temperature, moisture, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratio, ratio of elastic coefficients (ceramic-metal) and three distributions for both temperature and moisture on deflections and stresses are investigated.

Recently, the erosion due to cavitation frequently occurs on a horn-type rudder of a high-speed large container carrier. It is necessary to understand the flow characteristics around a rudder in fully wetted and cavitating flow condition, and the process of generation and collapse of cavitation for a rudder design to minimize the cavity-induced erosion. The flow characteristics around a two-dimensional hydrofoil(NACA66) are investigated through the computational method utilizing a viscous flow theory applied to a cavitation model. The computational results from the viscous flow theory are verified by the comparison with the experimental results, and are compared with those from the potential flow theory. The effects of angle of attack, Reynolds number, cavitation number, and thickness ratio on the cavitating flow are also investigated.
This paper utilizes the modified Davis model and the mode coupling theory, as parts of the electrolyte solution theory, to investigate the diffusivity of the ion in concrete. Firstly, a computational model of the ion diffusion coefficient, which is associated with ion species, pore solution concentration, concrete mix parameters including water-cement ratio and cement volume fraction, and microstructure parameters such as the porosity and tortuosity, is proposed in the saturated concrete. Secondly, the experiments, on which the chloride diffusion coefficient is measured by the rapid chloride penetration test, have been carried out to investigate the validity of the proposed model. The results indicate that the chloride diffusion coefficient obtained by the proposed model is in agreement with the experimental result. Finally, numerical simulation has been completed to investigate the effects of the porosity, tortuosity, water-cement ratio, cement volume fraction and ion concentration in the pore solution on the ion diffusion coefficients. The results show that the ion diffusion coefficient in concrete increases with the porosity, water-cement ratio and cement volume fraction, while we see a decrease with the increasing of tortuosity. Meanwhile, the ion concentration produces more obvious effects on the diffusivity itself, but has almost no effects on the other ions.
