This paper deals with the static bending of various types of FGM sandwich plates resting on two-parameter elastic foundations in hygrothermal environment. The elastic foundation is modeled as Pasternak's type, which can be either isotropic or orthotropic and as a special case, it converges to Winkler's foundation if the shear layer is neglected. The present FGM sandwich plate is assumed to be made of a fully ceramic core layer sandwiched by metal/ceramic FGM coats. The governing equations are derived from principle of virtual displacements based on a shear and normal deformations plate theory. The present theory takes into account both shear and normal strains effects, thus it predicts results more accurate than the shear deformation plate theories. The results obtained by the shear and normal deformation theory are compared with those available in the literature and also with those obtained by other shear deformation theories. It is concluded that the present results are slightly deviated from other results because the normal deformation effect is taken into account. Numerical results are presented to show the effects of the different parameters, such as side-to-thickness ratio, foundation parameters, aspect ratio, temperature, moisture, power law index and core thickness on the stresses and displacements of the FG sandwich plates.
The Edwards-Vilgis slip-link theory and the Kaliske-Heinrich extended tube theory were tested experimentally using published experimental data on networks of natural and isoprene rubber and on polysiloxane networks. All parameters were adjusted to achieve an optimum fit. The data description obtained with the EV theory is not satisfactory and the parameter values tend to lie outside their reasonably expected range. But for the region of low strains, the Kaliske-Heinrich theory offers a satisfactorily accurate data description which is able to serve for practical purposes. Its crosslink term, however, is based on approximations which lead to a questionable prediction and values determined for the exponent in the entanglement term lie outside the range expected by the KH model. Thus, the title question cannot be given a positive answer. Conclusions published earlier that the trapped entanglements contribute both to the crosslink and constraint (entanglement) term are supported by the present data analysis. Experimental equibiaxial data on hydrocarbon networks do not show any maximum on their stretch ratio dependence, contrary to the predictions of molecular theories. The stretch ratio dependences of relative reduced stresses do not sensitively reflect differences in the chemical nature of the chain backbone (hydrocarbon vs. siloxane) and in the crosslinking method (end-linking vs. random crosslinking).
The stresses on the buried steel pipe under embankment are analysed by the elasto-plastic theory using FEM to study the influences of the geometry of soil-conduit pipe system and the elastic modulus of the fill on the pipe responses . The geometry of the system considered in this study includes the height of embankment, the thickness of the pipe, and the width and the depth of the trench . By comparing the stresses computed by Marston-Spangler's pipe theory with those obtained from the elasto-plastic theory, Marston-Spangler's theory was discussed and analysed . It is found that the stress distribution around the pipe by elasto- plastic analysis is similar to that by Spangler's flexible pipe theory when the geometrical ratio (diameter/thickness) of the steel pipe is 400. And Spangler's flexible pipe theory does not seem to be suitable to analyse the buried steel pipe of which the geometrical ratio is lower than 200. The vertical loads by the rigid pipe theory are always larger than those by the flexible pipe theory regardness of the variations in the geometry of soil-conduit pipe system considered above and the elastic modulus of the fill.

In this paper, a new simple shear deformation theory for bending analysis of functionally graded plates is developed. The present theory involves only three unknown and three governing equation as in the classical plate theory, but it is capable of accurately capturing shear deformation effects, instead of five as in the well-known first shear deformation theory and higher-order shear deformation theory. A shear correction factor is, therefore, not required. The material properties of the functionally graded plates are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness, according to a simple power law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. Equations of motion are obtained by utilizing the principle of virtual displacements and solved via Navier's procedure. The elastic foundation is modeled as two parameter elastic foundation. The results are verified with the known results in the literature. The influences played by transversal shear deformation, plate aspect ratio, side-to-thickness ratio, elastic foundation, and volume fraction distributions are studied. Verification studies show that the proposed theory is not only accurate and simple in solving the bending behaviour of functionally graded plates, but also comparable with the other higher-order shear deformation theories which contain more number of unknowns.
In recent years the field application of high performance concrete has been increased to improve the quality and reliability of concrete structures. The mix design of the high performance concrete includes the 2 set-off mixture theory of mortar and coarse aggregate and that of paste and aggregate. The 2 set-off mixture theory of mortar and coarse aggregate has a problem of having to determine its value through repeated experiments in applying the rheological characteristics of mortar. The 2 set-off mixture theory of paste and aggregate has never been applied to high performance concrete since it doesn't take into account the relationship between optimum fine aggregate ratio and unit volume of powder nor does it consider the critical aggregate volume ratio. As the mixture theory of these high performance concretes, unlike that of general concrete, focuses on flowability and charge-ability, it does not consider intensity features in mix design also, the unit quantity of the materials used is determined by trial and error method in the same way as general concrete. This study is designed to reduce the frequency of trial and error by accurately calculating the optimum fine aggregate ratio, which makes it possible to minimize the aperture of aggregate in use by introducing the maximum density theory to the mix design of high performance concrete. Also, it is intended to propose a simple and reasonable mix design for high performance concrete meeting the requirements for both intensity and flowability. The mix design proposed in this study may reduce trial and error and conveniently produce high performance concrete which has self-chargeability by using more than the minimum unit volume of powder and optimum fine aggregate with minimum porosity.
In this work, the buckling analysis of material sandwich plates based on a two-parameter elastic foundation under various boundary conditions is investigated on the basis of a new theory of refined trigonometric shear deformation. This theory includes indeterminate integral variables and contains only four unknowns in which any shear correction factor not used, with even less than the conventional theory of first shear strain (FSDT). Applying the principle of virtual displacements, the governing equations and boundary conditions are obtained. To solve the buckling problem for different boundary conditions, Galerkin's approach is utilized for symmetric EGM sandwich plates with six different boundary conditions. A detailed numerical study is carried out to examine the influence of plate aspect ratio, elastic foundation coefficients, ratio, side-to-thickness ratio and boundary conditions on the buckling response of FGM sandwich plates. A good agreement between the results obtained and the available solutions of existing shear deformation theories that have a greater number of unknowns proves to demonstrate the precision of the proposed theory.

Yield and fracture are separated in the tensile failure of paper. Failure in the machine direction of photocopy paper is contrasted with failure in the cross-machine direction . The ratios of distortion (shape change) to dilatation (volume change) for individual elements at yield and fracture are described. The ratios of distortion to dilatation are measured and compared to predicted values of the strain energy density theory. To evaluate the effect of the angle from the principal material direction on the strain energy density theory. To evaluate the effect of the angle from the principal material direction on the strain energy density factor, samples are prepared from machine direction to cross-machine direction in 15 degree intervals. the strain energy density of individual elements are obtained by the integration of stress from finite element analysis with elastic plus plastic strain energy density theory. Poison's ratio and the angle from the principal material direction have a great effect ion the ratio fo distortion to dilatation in paper. During the yield condition, distortion prevails over dilatation . At fracture, dilatation is at a maximum.

The five punch and die sets are selected as the examples of arbitrary cross sections which have two opposite inclined sides. Two kinds of blank shapes are designed for all cross sections. One(h-b1.) is determined by slip-line theory and the other (G-b1.) is determined conventionally as the similar shapes with the cross sections which were used by Gopinathan. As a result of the experimental procedures, the superiority of the blank shapes designed by slip-line theory is verified in the limiting drawing ratio, the uniformity of cup height and the thickness distributions.
In this research paper, the free vibrational behavior of the simply supported FG nano-plate is studied using the nonlocal two variables integral refined plate theory. The present model takes into account the small scale effect. The effective's properties of the plate change according to the power law variation (P-FGM). The equations of motion of the system are determined and resolved via Hamilton's principle and Navier procedure, respectively. The validity and efficiency of the current model are confirmed by comparing the results with those given in the literature. At the last section, several numerical results are presented to show the various parameters influencing the vibrational behavior such as the small-scale effect, geometry ratio, material index and aspect ratio.
A numerical study was performed to investigate characteristics of one-dimensional consolidation of soft clay. Results of consolidation tests with the remolded normally consolidation clay of having a very high initial void ratio were analyzed by using the numerical technique of finite difference method based on the finite strain consolidation theory, to evaluate consolidational characteristics of soft clay under surcharges on the top of clay. On the other hand, a numerical parametric study on soft clay consolidated due to its self-weight was also carried out to find its effect on one-dimensional consolidation. Terzaghi's conventional consolidation theory, finite strain consolidation theories with linear and non-linear interpolation of effective stress - void ratio - permeability relation were used to analyze the test results and their results were compared to each other to figure out the difference between them. Therefore, the validity of theories was assessed.
