  • This study was carried out to analysis the landform characteristics of land creep areas in south Korea. Aspect ratio in 17 areas (approximately 46.0 %) among total land creep areas (37 areas) was ranged from 0.37 to 0.92. Also, aspect ratio in 36 areas (approximately 97.0 %) was less than 2. Longitudinal section form ratio of 15 areas (approximately 41.0 %) was less than 1.0, whereas 22 areas (approximately 59.0 %) were more than 1.0. Horseshoe hoof form in land creep areas were mostly appeared to flat land types, whereas convex terrain ground form was prevailed to micro-topography. Mean contour intervals were higher in micro-topography (mean 29.4 m, range 9.5 m ~ 83.2 m) than in except micro-topography (mean 24.3 m, range: 14.4 m ~ 59.4 m) in land creep areas. The contour intervals were slightly wider in micro-topography (mean 5.1 m, range: 4.9 m ~ 23.8 m) than in except micro-topography in land creep areas. The results indicate that contour intervals were significantly different (P < 0.05) between micro-topography and except micro-topography in land creep areas.

  • This study was conducted to develop the merchantable stem volume models to predict the volume up to upper diameter or upper height out of the total stem volume, targeting on Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis, and Larix kaempferi in South Korea. The 131 stemmed sample trees for stem analysis were used as the data for developing the models. The six kinds of merchantable volume equations including merchantable volume ratio form, ratio form, and exponential ratio form were examined to develop the best models. The two models were finally selected as the best models to predict the merchantable volume: $V_d=V_t\{{\exp}[{\alpha}_1(d^{{\alpha}_2}/D^{{\alpha}_3})]\}$ for upper diameter and $V_h=V_t\{1+{\beta}_1(P^{{\beta}_2}/H^{{\beta}_3})\}$ for upper height. By rearranging the best model equations, implicit taper functions were derived, and the estimation was performed for the upper height by upper diameter and upper diameter by upper height. Because of not only the high accuracy but also the convenience, the models developed in this study were considered to be easily applicable in the field of forestry.

  • A new hit-and-miss ratio transform is introduced as a modified hit-and-miss transform to be robust to noise, which uses a quasi-matching technique based on the fitting ratio functions. And a new gray-level object segmentation algorithm is proposed, which is based on the hit-and-miss ratio transform and threshold decomposition. The proposed segmentation images, and is similarly applicable to segmentation of an object with specific shapes form natural real images.

  • It has been suggested that morphologic characteristics of the periodontium are partly related to the shape and form of the teeth. Furthermore, the severity of symptoms of periodontal disease have been proposed to differ among these various morphologic entities or "biotypes". The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between the form of the crowns in the maxillary anterior tooth segment and (1) a group of morphological characteristics and (2) the thickness of the gingiva. The thickness of gingiva was measured by ultrasonic device(SDM). 100 subjects devoid of symptoms of destructive periodontal disease were examined regarding, e.g., probing depth, gingival recession, width of keratinized gingiva, thickness of the keratinized gingiva. From maxillary study cast, the width(at the apical third-CW) and the length(CL) of the crowns of the 6 anterior teeth were determined. A CW/CL-ratio was calculated for each tooth and averaged for each tooth region. The individual mean CW/CL-ratio values for the central incisors were ranked. The 10 subjects ranked highest and the 10 ranked lowest were selected as having either a long-narrow(group N) or a short-wide(group W) form of the crown of the tooth. The data for each of the examined parameters were averaged for each tooth region in each subject and mean values for subjects in groups W and N were compared using the Student t-test. Stepwise multiple regression analysis, including data from the whole sample, was performed for each tooth region with the thickness of the free gingiva as the dependent variable. The results from the analyses demonstrated that individuals with a long-narrow form of the central incisors displayed, compared to individuals with a short-wide crown, form (l) a narrow zone of keratinized gingiva, (2) a pronounced "scalloped" contour of the gingival margin. There was no significant difference between groups N and W with respect to the thickness of the keratinized gingiva. The CW/CL-ratio data revealed that a certain form of the crowns in the central incisors was accompanied by a similar form in the lateral incisors and canine tooth region. The regression analyses demonstrated that the thickness of the keratinized gingiva in central, lateral incisors and canines was significantly related to the width of the keratinized gingiva.

  • Objectives: Due to their developmental characteristics, adolescents have a higher probability than other age groups of experiencing injuries caused by accidents, violence, and intentional self-harm. The severity and characteristics of injuries vary by the intentionality and mechanism of injury; therefore, there is a need for a national-level estimate of the scale and the severity of injuries in adolescents that takes these factors into account. Methods: By using data from the Emergency Department-based Injury In-depth Surveillance Data, National Emergency Department Information System, the Korean National Hospital Discharge In-depth Injury Survey, and cause of death statistics, we calculated the emergency department (ED) visit rate, hospitalization rate, and death rate of injuries per 100 000 adolescents for each injury mechanism. The calculated rates were used to generate the injury pyramid ratio (ratio of death rate to hospitalization rate to ED visit rate) to visualize the scale and the severity of the injury. Results: The mortality rate in adolescents due to injury was 10/100 000; the corresponding rates for hospitalization and ED visits were 1623 and 4923, respectively, resulting in an injury pyramid ratio with the general pyramid form, with a 1:162:492 ratio of deaths to hospitalizations to ED visits. The mortality rate due to suicide/intentional self-harm was 5/100 000, while 35 were hospitalized for this reason and 74 made ED visits. The pyramid ratio of 1:7:15 for intentional self-harm/suicide showed a steep pyramidal form, indicating considerable lethality. The mortality rate due to motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) was 3/100 000; 586 were hospitalized for this reason, while 1023 made ED visits. The pyramid ratio of 1:195:341 for MVCs showed a gradual pyramid form, indicating that the lethality was low and the scale of injury was high. Conclusions: The main categories of injuries in adolescents were visualized in pyramid form, contributing to an understanding of the scale of each injury by mechanism in terms of levels of death, hospitalization, and ED visits. These findings will be helpful for understanding how to prioritize injuries in adolescents.

  • With recent advances in computer technology, the ratio of free-form building designs to those of the past is increasing gradually. However, the current technology of free-form structure is very low. The core technology for free-form building implementation is the manufacturing technology of FCP (Free-form Concrete Panel), which indicates an unformed outside, and through the development of FCP manufacturing technology, the construction technology of free-form architecture can be enhanced. The inside and outside of an free-form building should be represented by the designer's intended curvature, and the panel's thickness by segment should be constant. For this reason, the technology that keeps the thickness of panels constant during the FCP production process is a key technology that can improve the quality of FCP. In this study, a basic study on ways to maintain a constant thickness of FCP is conducted.

  • This study seeks to analyze the effect of Non-Performing Loans and Capital Adequacy Ratio on Return on Assets on ten conventional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI-IDX). This study uses secondary panel data for 2015-2019 in the form of CAR and NPL values from ten conventional banks listed on the BEI-IDX during the 2020 observation period. The research approach is quantitative descriptive with data analysis methods, namely, linear regression. The testing phase of this study includes: transform value, F-test, T-test and hypothesis test with significancy level sig < 0.05. The results of this study reveal that Non-Performing Loans had a significant negative effect (t = -2,637) (0.011 <0.0) on Return on Assets, while Capital Adequacy Ratio has no significant effect on ROA (0.760 > 0.05). R2 value is 0.128 or 12.8%. It has a significant effect on variables, calling efforts by banks, governments, and authorities monetary of related institutions to maintain the stability of finance. The reduction of Non-Performing Loan impacts on assets and capital adequacy ratio, besides, the normal NPL will control the stability of finance. If a balance is created either in the form of values or amounts of the variables, the reduction in Non-Performing Loans will be controlled.

  • We present methods for studying the log-density ratio that enables the selection of the predictors and the form to be included in the logistic regression model. Under bivariate normal distributional assumptions, we investigate the form of the log-density ratio as a function of two predictors. If two covariance matrices are equal, then the crossproduct and quadratic terms are not needed. If the variables are uncorrelated, we do not need the crossproduct terms, but we still need the linear and quadratic terms. We also explore other conditions in which the crossproduct and quadratic terms are not needed in the logistic regression model.

  • In an atempt to elucidate further physicochemical properties of furosemide-PVP coprecipitates, extensive investigations such as TLC, UV,IR, NMR, X-ray diffraction, TGA and DTA studies were carried out for the furosemide test systems. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the pure furosemide and the furosemide contained within a physical mixture were crystalline in nature. However, there was no crystallinity evident in the 1:5 furosemide-PVP 40,000 coprecipitate system, even after standing for two years. The various ratio furosemide-PVP 40,000 coprecipitate systems revealed that the coprecipitate containing a greater amount of PVP 40,000 than that of furosemide showed a crystalline state of furosemide and that the minimum amounts of PVP to make amorphous form of furosemide was 1:1 ratio of furosemide to PVP. From the furosemide-PVP coprecipitate systems with PVP of different molecular weights of 10,000, 40,000 and 360,000, all the 1:1 ratio coprecipitates did not exhibit any crystallinity of furosemide, whereas all the 2:1 ratio coprecipitates showed a presence of crystalline furosemide. All the coprecipitated preparations with PEG 4,000 and with PEG 6,000 showed the diffraction peaks indicating the presence of crystalline furosemide. The comparison of infrared spectra of the physical mixture and the coprecipitate showed an interaction such as association between the functional groups of furosemide and PVP in the molecular level, whereas the studies by TLC, UV and NMR showed its dissociation in methanol solution. The weight losses in TGA curves showed all the same patterns. However, a little different transition form in DTA thermograms was shown between the physical mixture and the coprecipitate, indicating the different thermal property.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate facial form, arch form and tooth form in young adults to determine if a correlation exists. 115 subjects who had healthy natural maxillary incisors and good occlusion consisted of 71 males and 44 females ranging from 20-30 years of age. Facial photographs and, intraoral photographs of upper anterior teeth and dental casts of upper jaws were taken to demonstrate facial form, dental arch form and tooth form. Form analysis is determined by comparing the ratio of the widths of the faces, dental archs and the teeth. The Chi-square test of independence between facial form, arch form and tooth form, was executed and the significance level determined. The results were as follows : 1. The distribution of facial forms was 66.1% square-tapering, 27.0% square, 5.2% ovoid, 2% tapering-square. 2. The distribution of tooth forms was 65.2% ovoid, 20.0% square-tapering, 11.3 % tapering-square, 3.5 % square. 3. The distribution of arch forms was 50.4 % square-tapering, 48.7 % tapering, 0.9 % reverse tapering-square. 4. There was no large differences in the distribution of facial forms, dental arch forms and tooth-forms between male and female. 5. No relationship existed between the tooth form and the facial form. 6. No relationship existed between the facial form and the dental arch form. 7. No relationship existed between the tooth form and the dental arch form. 8. This gave the impression that dental arch form and facial form could not be used as a true index in tooth selection.
