  • This study examined the moderating and mediating effects of teacher-child conflict relationship among child's language ability, emotional regulation and peer victimization. The participants were 152 children(77 boys, 75 girls) and 14 preschool teachers. The teachers completed rating scales to measure the child's emotional regulation, peer victimization and teacher-child relationship. Child's language ability was assessed by researcher using PRES(Preschool Receptive-Expressive Language Scale). The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlations and hierarchical multiple regressions. Results showed that peer victimization was related to child's language ability, emotional regulation and teacher-child relationship. Hierarchical aggression analysis indicated that the interaction of child's receptive language ability and teacher-child conflict relationship predicated peer victimization. Child's language ability, whose demonstrated a lower teacher-child conflict relationship, was significantly with peer victimization. In addition, the association between a child's emotional regulation and peer victimization was partially mediated by teacher-child conflict relationship.

  • Background: The objective of this study was to compare dysmenorrhea with pelvic alignment, hip joint range of motion about 20's female university students. Sixty two female students participated in this study. To investigate the measure of dysmenorrhea, we used modified menstrual distress questionnaire (MMDQ) and numerric rating scale (NRS). The pelvic alignment was assessed by using the palpation meter. The active range of motion (ROM) were assessed by measuring the flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation and external rotation. Each measurement was assessed by goniometer. The data were analyzed by calculating independent T-test. Consequently, As the increase of dysmenorrhea, we observed significantly the increase of pelvic anterior tilt in right and left pelvic (p<.05). Otherwise, as the increase of dysmenorrhea, range of motion of hip joint was significantly limited in right and left external rotation (p<.05). Thus, this study provides young female with valuable information about dysmenorrhea.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to test the effects of music therapy on postoperative pain in patients with total hip replacement. Method: The research design was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were composed of thirty patients with total hip replacement. Fifteen of them were assigned to the experimental group and fifteen to the control group. Fifteen minutes tailored music therapy was given to the experimental group during five consecutive days. The instruments used for this study were pain NRS(numerical rating scale). The data were analyzed using percent, mean, standard deviation, ${\chi}^2-test$ and repeated measure ANOVA using SPSS WIN 11.0. Results: Hypothesis 1 "The score of pain NRS of experimental group will be lower than those of control group" was accepted(F=15.945, p<.001). Hypothesis 2 "The frequency of PCA analgesics of experimental group will be fewer than those of control group" was accepted (t=-2.312, p=.028). Hypothesis 3 "The vital signs(pulse, systolic BP and diastolic BP) of experimental group will be different from those of control group" was rejected. Conclusion: This music therapy can be recommended as an efficient nursing intervention to reduce postoperative pain in patients with total hip replacement.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the behavioral responses to a robot pet in pre-school children. Method: This activity for children was conducted for 5 days at a kindergarten and each session lasted 30 minutes. In order to measure children's temperament, Chun Heeyoung's Temperament Rating Scale was used. In addition, to investigate the behavioral responses to a robot pet, each session was videotaped. The videotape data was analyzed according to child-robot interaction. Result: On the average, subjects scored highest in emotionality and lowest in activity for the temperamental subscale. The videotape data revealed verbal, positive nonverbal, and negative nonverbal interaction. Conclusions: These results suggest that child-robot interaction reflects temperamental characteristics, therefore, to develop a nursing intervention program using a robot, it is necessary to consider individual differences and recreational factors to grab children's interest.

  • This study investigated the perceptual and cepstral/spectral characteristics of phonation and their relationships in dysarthria in connected speech. Twenty-two participants were divided into two groups; the eleven dysarthric speakers were paired with matching age and gender healthy control participants. A perceptual evaluation was performed by three speech pathologists using the GRBAS scale to measure the cepstrual/spectral characteristics of phonation between the two groups' connected speech. Correlations showed dysarthric speakers scored significantly worse (with a higher rating) with severities in G (overall dysphonia grade), B (breathiness), and S (strain), while the smoothed prominence of the cepstral peak (CPPs) was significantly lower. The CPPs were significantly correlated with the perceptual ratings, including G, B, and S. The utility of CPPs is supported by its high relationship with perceptually rated dysphonia severity in dysarthric speakers. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed that the threshold of 5.08 dB for the CPPs achieved a good classification for dysarthria, with 63.6% sensitivity and the perfect specificity (100%). Those results indicate the CPPs reliably distinguished between healthy controls and dysarthric speakers. However, the CPP frequency (CPP F0) and low-high spectral ratio (L/H ratio) were not significantly different between the two groups.

  • The objective of this study were 1) to review concepts of user information satisfaction (UIS), 2) to analyze tools for measuring user information satisfaction, 3) to identify factors affecting information satisfaction. The study was carried out by the analysis of literatures related to information system. The construct of UIS has been operationalized in many different ways. Several studies employed single-item rating scales; such scales have been criticized as unreliable. Single-item scales also provide little information as to what the user finds dissatisfying(satisfying) and are thus of limited utility outside a research setting. Multiple-item UIS measures have become increasingly common. Generally, they are of two types. The first focuses on the information system product. With such diverse names as "system acceptance", "output quality", and "appreciation", these scales focus on the content of the information system and the manner in which the information is presented. The second type of multiple-item scale includes the organizational support for developing and maintaining the system as well as the system product itself. This type of instrument contains items concerned with training, documentation, development procedures, systems maintenance, etc., as well as items related to system content. Thus it provides an indicator of the overall quality of information services provided by an information service function. Generally, UIS measures have not been carefully validated. Recently, however, several rigorous attempts have been made to develop valid and reliable UIS measure.

  • Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is an autoimmune inflammatory disorder of the central nervous system characterized by optic neuritis and longitudinally extensive myelitis. Painful tonic spasm is a common complication of NMO, but there have been no reports about it in Korean medicine studies. In this case, we treated a 53-year-old woman diagnosed with NMO with paraplegia, painful tonic spasm, and decreased visual acuity using Korean medicine treatment, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, and moxibustion. We measured changes in clinical symptoms using the manual muscle testing (MMT), the numeric rating scale (NRS), the modified Barthel Index (MBI), and the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). After treatment, clinical symptoms were improved. The results indicate that Korean medicine treatment may be effective in the treatment of an NMO patient with paraplegia and painful tonic spasm.
