  • Hydrogen safety is one of the key technical issue with growing attention on utilization of hydrogen energy. This study is aimed to predict behavior of momentum-controlling buoyant jet and flame caused by hydrogen leakage from a high pressured tank. Approximate solutions were derived for the case of turbulent buoyant jet and diffusion flame in still air. In case of hydrogen jet with low Froude number (100-4000), computed jet trajectories were compared with experimental data and showed good agreement with them. Jet and flame trajectories and flame length of hydrogen are predicted and compared with the buoyant flame of propane. The results well show that buoyancy is dominant in the range of low Froude number, while initial momentum is dominant in the range of high Froude number. That effect is more distinct for hydrogen flame than the case of propane.

  • This area is covered in Andesite of high compression strength and located in PUSAN SEO-KU. There are many old houses around shaft site. So, we must have a cautious blasting operation. A total of 40 blasts were test at DAE-SHIN Shaft site to study the magnitude and frequency characterization of blast-induced vibration. The effect of viblating frequency on structual damage and site-specific scaling to define th empirical equations were also discussed. The result can be summarized as follows: 1. Some empirical equations were obtained. $V=K\{{\frac{D}{W}}1/3\}^{-n}$ where the values for n and K are estimated to be -1.407 to -2.202 and 643.3489 to 7283.2104 respectively. 2. Dominant frequencies at short distance are in the range of about 75.0 to 91.8 Hz, with some exceptions of about 50Hz, Frequencies observed at long distance are in the range of 10 to 2Hz. It is apparent the shift of dominant frequency down to lower levels at long distance.

  • In this paper, a novel speed control system that implements the fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is proposed. Fuzzy controller is shown more excellent efficency than a conventional controllers in the strength aspect and non-linear controller using IF-THEN rule which can control without process the accurate mathematical modeling about induction motor. But we cannot expect that conventional fuzzy controller divide equally the space of input and output parameter and use the certain shape of triangle membership function. Therefore to develop the efficiency of conventional fuzzy controller, We need to scale the range of membership functions. In this study, proposed fuzzy controller has the ability controlling scale of membership functions using by output scaling factor.

  • Introduction: Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) is used as a way of studying nonlinearity of EEG. In this study, DFA is applied on sleep EEG of normal subjects to look into its nonlinearity in terms of EEG channels and sleep stages. Method: Twelve healthy young subjects (age:$23.8{\pm}2.5$ years old, male:female=7:5) have undergone nocturnal polysomnography (nPSG). EEG from nPSG was classified in terms of its channels and sleep stages and was analyzed by DFA. Scaling exponents (SEs) yielded by DFA were compared using linear mixed model analysis. Results: Scaling exponents (SEs) of sleep EEG were distributed around 1 showing long term temporal correlation and self-similarity. SE of C3 channel was bigger than that of O1 channel. As sleep stage progressed from stage 1 to slow wave sleep, SE increased accordingly. SE of stage REM sleep did not show significant difference when compared with that of stage 1 sleep. Conclusion: SEs of Normal sleep EEG showed nonlinear characteristic with scale-free fluctuation, long-range temporal correlation, self-similarity and self-organized criticality. SE from DFA differentiated sleep stages and EEG channels. It can be a useful tool in the research with sleep EEG.

  • The tombstone of Yi Chungmugong in the Joseon Dynasty located Namhae, Gyeongnam is consisted of sandstone. The Bisin and Bijwa of the tombstone have narrow range of magnetic value less than $0.2({\times}10^{-3}SI\;unit)$ and the Isu covered pigment on surface also has same magnetic susceptibility range. Therefore, the composition of all tombstone have similar lithological characteristics. The side of the tombstone appeared fine-grained sandstone to coarse-grained graywacke boundary clearly and back of tombstone observed lamination. Especially deterioration type is concentrated in front and back of the tombstone blistering (8.2% of back), scaling (10.2% of back), granular disintegration (28.1% of back) and discoloration (53.5% of front). Results of contaminants analysis, the front of the Bisin separated in 3 type of surface - granular disintegration-scaling. Among this area, surface detected Ca, S and Cl in high density, but these contaminants elements have more lower detect density from surface to granular disintegration. By contrast, on scaling area, these components are almost not detected, but Fe, K consisted of rock forming elements are detected. It is necessary to conservation and treatment of Yi Chungmugong tombstone in continuously, and salt cleaning on surface also needed. So through activity of conservation and restoration, epigraph preserved for their worth.

  • The Froude scaling between the prototype and the model was tried to estimate the necessary ventilation rate for non-isothermal concentrated fume from the semi-closed inner space. Based on the non-dimensional similitude equations derived from the Zukoski plume rise analysis, the scaling experiments were done to verify the relationship of the non-dimensional energy release rate and the non-dimensional mass flow rate by using two different scaled volume models, model A ($1\;m{\times}1\;m{\times}1\;m$) and model B ($0.5\;m{\times}0.5\;m{\times}0.5\;m$). The experimental results showed that the theoretical similitude between the models is acceptable for the prediction of ventilation rate of the concentrated fume. The maximum energy release rate used for the experiments was $20\;kW/m^3$. In the experimental range, the similitude between the energy release rate and the ventilation mass flow rate was well defined and the necessary ventilation rates were 20-30% higher than the stoichiometric ventilation mass flow rate. Based on results of current study, the design of the local air ventilation system can be improved by correcting the effects of buoyancy and diffusion of the non-isothermal concentrated fume.

  • With the proliferation of diverse wireless devices, there is an increasing concern about the security of location information which can be spoofed or disrupted by adversaries. This paper investigates the characterization and detection of location spoofing attacks, specifically those which are attempting to falsify (degrade) the position estimate through signal strength based attacks. Since the physical-layer approach identifies and assesses the security risk of position information based solely on using received signal strength (RSS), it is applicable to nearly any practical wireless network. In this paper, we characterize the impact of signal strength and beamforming attacks on range estimates and the resulting position estimate. It is shown that such attacks can be characterized by a scaling factor that biases the individual range estimators either uniformly or selectively. We then identify the more severe types of attacks, and develop an attack detection approach which does not rely on a priori knowledge (either statistical or environmental). The resulting approach, which exploits the dissimilar behavior of two RSS-based estimators when under attack, is shown to be effective at detecting both types of attacks with the detection rate increasing with the severity of the induced location error.

  • Many building foundations are embedded, however it is not easy to compact the backfill around the foundation especially for the deeply embedded ones. The soil condition around the embedded foundation may affect the seismic response of a building due to the weak contact between the soil and the foundation. In this paper, the response accelerations in the short-period range and at the period of 1 second (in the long-period range) for a seismic design spectrum specified in the IBC design code were compared considering perfect and poor backfills to investigate the effect of backfill compaction around the embedded foundation. An in-house finite-element software (P3DASS) which has the capability of horizontal pseudo-3D seismic analysis with linear soil layers was used to perform the seismic analyses of the structure-soil system with an embedded foundation. Seismic analyses were carried out with 7 bedrock earthquake records provided by the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER), scaling the peak ground accelerations to 0.1 g. The results indicate that the poor backfill is not detrimental to the seismic response of a building, if the foundation is not embedded deeply in the soft soil. However, it is necessary to perform the seismic analysis for the structure-soil system embedded deeply in the soft soil to check the seismic resonance due to the soft soil layer beneath the foundation, and to compact the backfill as well as possible.
