In this paper, the along-wind, across-wind as well as torsional dynamic wind loads on three kinds of lattice tower models are investigated using the base balance technique in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The models were specially designed, and their fundamental frequencies in the directions of the three principal axes are still in the frequency range of the spectra of wind loads on lattice towers. In order to clear contaminations to the spectra of wind loads induced by model resonance, the generalized force spectra of the first mode of the models in along-wind, across-wind and torsional directions were derived based on measured base moments of the models. The RMS generalized force coefficients are also obtained by removing the contributions of model resonance. Finally, the characteristics of the 3-D dynamic wind loads, especially those of the across-wind dynamic loads, on the three kinds of lattice towers are presented and discussed.

This study is a fundamental investigation for standardization of the heavy-weight floor impact measuring method by the impact ball. The distribution chrematistics of floor impact sound level and reverberation time in a receiving room of the testing building for floor impact sound were measured with variations of number and arrangement of the sound-absorbing materials. Total 8 cases were investigated. The distribution of the floor impact sound level($L_{i,\;Fmax}$) was measured at 30 points with same intervals. The absorption coefficient of the room is 0.10 in case of installation of 6 absorbing materials and 0.02 in case of non-installation. The distribution shape of the impact sound pressure level was similar to the result of the bang machine driving at the measured frequency range. However, the overall reduction of the impact sound level investigated in the 125 to 500 Hz shows that the sound absorption characteristics of the receiving room actually affects the result of the heavy-weight impact measurement.
This paper describes the categorical effects of pitch accent contrasts in a mimicry task. It focuses, specifically, on examining how fundamental frequency (f0) variation reflects phonological contrasts from speakers of two distinct varieties of Korean (i.e., North Kyungsang and South Cholla). The results showed that, in a mimicry task using synthetic speech continua, there was a categorical effect in f0 peak timing for North Kyungsang speakers, but the timing of f0 peaks and valleys in the responses of South Cholla speakers was more variable, presenting a gradient or non-categorical effect. Evidence of categorical effects was represented as the shift of f0 peak times along an acoustic continuum for North Kyungsang speakers. The range for the shift of f0 valley times was much narrower, compared to that of f0 peak times. The degree of a shift near the middle of the continuum showed variability across individual mimicry responses. However, the categorical structure in mimicry responses regarding the clustering of f0 peak points was more significant for North Kyungsang speakers than for South Cholla speakers. Additionally, the finding of the current study implies that the location of f0 peak times depends on individuals' imitative (or cognitive) abilities.
This study investigated individual variability of L2 learners' categorical judgments of L2 stops by exploring English learners' perceptual processing of two acoustic cues (voice onset time [VOT] and f0) and working memory capacity as sources of variation. As prior research has reported that English speakers' greater use of the redundant cue f0 was responsible for gradient processing of native stops, we examined whether the same processing characteristics would be observed in L2 learners' perception of Korean stops (/t/-/th/). 22 English learners of L2 Korean with a range of L2 proficiency participated in a visual analogue scaling task and demonstrated variable manners of judging the L2 Korean stops: Some were more gradient than others in performing the task. Correlation analysis revealed that L2 learners' categorical responses were modestly related to individuals' utilizations of a primary cue for the stop contrast (VOT for L1 English stops and f0 for L2 Korean stops), and were also related to better working memory capacity. Together, the current experimental evidence demonstrates adult L2 learners' top-down processing of stop consonants where linguistic and cognitive resources are devoted to a process of determining abstract phonemic identity.

A systematic numerical experiment has been conducted to study droplet gasification in high pressure environments with pressure oscillations. The general frame of previous rigorous model[1] is retained but tailored for flash equilibrium calculation of vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics. Time-dependent conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy, and species concentrations are formulated in axisymmetric coordinate system for both the droplet interior and ambient gases. In addition, a unified property evaluation scheme based on the fundamental equation of state and empirical methods are used to find fluid thermophysical properties over the entire thermodynamic domain of interest. The governing equations with appropriate physical boundary conditions are numerically time integrated using an implicit finite-difference method with a dual time-stepping technique. A series of calculation have been carried out to investigate the gasification of an isolated n-pentane droplet in a nitrogen gas environment over a wide range of ambient pressures and frequencies. Results show that the mean pressures and frequencies of the ambient gas have strong influences on the characteristics of the droplet gasification. The amplitude of the response increases with increasing pressure, and the magnitude of the vaporization response increases with the frequency.

This study investigates the bending and stability properties of cylindrical constructions, with a focus on their use in the design and implementation of sporting equipment. The work focuses on a cylindrical construction resembling nanomotors, similar to components seen in sports equipment, using mathematical modeling based on high-order beam theory and nonlocal strain gradient theory. The analysis provides important insights into the dynamic behavior of these systems, revealing light on the impact of numerous factors such as rotational velocity, section change rate, and structural dimensions. The results show a relationship between angular velocity growth and section change rate, which leads to an increase in fundamental frequency values. Furthermore, the research emphasizes the effect of structural factors on dynamic deflection, giving critical information for increasing the stability and performance of sporting equipment. This study adds to the area of sports engineering by providing a more nuanced understanding of how cylindrical constructions react under diverse settings. The results will help to guide the design and manufacturing processes of sports equipment, assuring improved stability and performance for players across a wide range of sports.
The present study investigated some perceptual phonetic attributes of two Korean stop types, aspirated and lax, in medial position of an accentual phrase. The intonational pattern across syllables (Jun, 1993) is argued to depend on the type of stop (aspirated vs. lax) only in the initial position of an accentual phrase. In Kang & Dilley (2007), we showed that significant differences between aspirated and lax stops in medial position of an accentual phrase exist in closure duration, voice-onset time, and fundamental frequency (F0) values for post-stop vowels. In the present perception experiment, we investigated whether these phonetic attributes contribute to the perception of these two types of stops: The closure durations and/or F0's of post-stop vowels on accentual-phrase medial words were altered and twenty native Korean speakers then judged these words as beginning with an aspirated or lax stop. Both closure duration and F0 significantly affected judgments of stop identity. These results indicate that a wider range of acoustic cues that distinguish aspirated and lax Korean stops in production also plays a role in perception. To account for these results we suggest some phonetic and phonological models of consonant-tone interactions for Korean.
An electroglottography (EGG) was used to investigate the function of the vocal folds during their vibration. In this study, four Korean native speakers and 10 vocal polyp patients were selected. To investigate the dynamic change of EGG waveforms for the three-way distinction of Korean stops, a DSP-Sona graph model 5500, a Rino- Laryngeal stroboscope, a CSL model 4300B and a Laryngograph were used. An EGG Model 4338 was used to exam the vocal polyp of patients' voices during high, low, comfortable pitch production. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of Korean stop consonants in relation to pitch and to observe laryngeal movement during vocal fold vibration and speech production. The basic data accumulated during this research can be applied in clinical treatment. The results are as follows: on the Korean stop consonants, the aspirated stop is the highest in the GOT and PC1. On the angle of vowel contour, the angle of lenis is smaller than the angle of heavily aspirated and glottalized stops. The fundamental frequency is lowest at the lenis stop, In vocal polyp patients', the low pitch range is smaller than in normal speakers'. The pitch break and the vocal fry were observed. The jitter and OQ value are higher in vocal polyp patients than in those of normal speakers'.
The purpose of this study is to analysis the 3 differential size of the interior space for impulse noise. To achieve this goal the 3 kinds (27, 35, $50m^3$) of interior space were performed comparing the impulse noise. Result of this study, the standard error of the mean peak sound pressure of value from 0.19 to 0.27dB and there was no significant difference (p<0.01). And B-duration is significant differences (P<0.01) range from 3.98 to 7.93ms. This is respectively less than 10ms. These findings are confirmed in accordance by the 3 differential space size of the indoor-impulse noise due to 0.3 dB or less, so there was no difference to the operational influence. And also below 100 Hz were found fundamental mode frequency analysis. Results were matched with calculated theoretical values.
