  • As the capacity of SSDs rapidly increases, the amount of DRAM to keep a mapping table size in SSDs becomes very huge. To address a Demand-based FTL (DFTL) scheme that caches part of mapping entries in DRAM is considered to be a feasible alternative. However, owing to its unpredictable behaviors, DFTL fails to provide consistent I/O response times. In this paper, we a) analyze a root cause that results in fluctuation on read latency and b) propose a new demand-based FTL scheme that ensures guaranteed read response time with low write amplification. By preventing mapping evictions while serving reads, the proposed technique guarantees every host read requests to be done in 2 NAND read operations. Moreover, only with 25% of a cache ratio, the proposed scheme improves random write performance and random mixed performance by 1.65x and 1.15x, respectively, over the traditional DFTL.

  • The discretized saw-tooth map with the 16-bit finite precision which is one of the 1-dimensional chaotic maps is designed, and the circuit of chaotic binary sequence generator using the discretized saw-tooth map is presented also in this brief. The real implementation of designed chaotic map is accomplished by connecting the input and output lines exactly according to the simplified Boolean functions of output variables obtained from truth table which is discretized. The random binary output sequences generated by mLFSR generator were used for the inputs of descretized saw-tooth map, and, by the descretized map, chaotic binary sequence which has more long period of 16 times minimally is generated as a results.

  • The Pearson chi-square goodness-of-fit test and the likelihood ratio tests are usually used for testing independence in two-way contingency tables under random sampling. But both of these tests may provide false results for the contingency table with clustered observations. In this case we consider the generalized linear mixed model which includes random effects of clustering in addition to the fixed effects of covariates. Both the heterogeneity between clusters and the dependency within a cluster can be explained via generalized linear mixed model. In this paper we introduce several types of generalized linear mixed model for testing independence in contingency tables with clustered observations. We also discuss the fitting of these models through a real dataset.

  • An efficient encryption algorithm based on the Data Encryption Standard (DES) for personal cloud computing environments is presented. The proposed algorithm improves data privacy, security and also encryption speed, compared with the triple DES. The improvement of the proposed algorithm stems from enhanced privacy inherent from the use of spread random interleaver in the place of the known substitution table for initial and final permutations in the DES algorithm. The simulation results demonstrate that the interleaver based DES (I-DES) is found to run faster than the triple DES algorithm and also offer improved security. The proposed algorithm also offers encryption for variable-length data using the Cipher Block Chaining (CBC).

  • LPM(Longest Prefix Matching)searching in If address lookup is a major bottleneck of IP packet processing in the high speed router. In the conventional lookup table for the LPM searching in CAM(Content Addressable Memory) the complexity of fast update take 0(1). In this paper, we designed pipeline architecture for fast update of 0(1) cycle of lookup table and high throughput and low area complexity on LPM searching. Lookup-table architecture was designed by CAM(Content Addressable Memory)away that uses 1bit RAM(Random Access Memory)cell. It has three pipeline stages. Its LPM searching rate is affected by both the number of key field blocks in stage 1 and stage 2, and distribution of matching Point. The RTL(Register Transistor Level) design is carried out using Verilog-HDL. The functional verification is thoroughly done at the gate level using 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS SEC standard cell library.

  • A new clamped mechanical splice system was proposed to develop structural performance and constructability for precast concrete connections. The proposed mechanical splice resists external loading immediately after the engagement. The mechanical splices applicable for both large-scale rebars for plants and small-scale rebars for buildings were developed with the same design concept. Quasi-static lateral cyclic loading tests were conducted with reinforced and precast concrete members to verify the seismic performance. Also, shaking table tests with three types of seismic wave excitation, 1) random wave with white noise, 2) the 2016 Gyeongju earthquake, and 3) the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake, were conducted to confirm the dynamic performance. All tests were performed with real-scale concrete specimens. Sensors measured the lateral load, acceleration, displacement, crack pattern, and secant system stiffness, and energy dissipation was determined by lateral load-displacement relation. As a result, the precast specimen provided the emulative performance with RC. In the shaking table tests, PC frames' maximum acceleration and displacement response were amplified 1.57 - 2.85 and 2.20 - 2.92 times compared to the ground motions. The precast specimens utilizing clamped mechanical splice showed ductile behavior with energy dissipation capacity against strong motion earthquakes.

  • Objectives: To evaluate the methodological quality of Korean Acupuncture Clinical trials Methods : Two independent researchers reviewed 12 protocols of Acupuncture clinical trials which were conducted in Korea 2006. Also, Survey Principal Investigator of those was conducted. We compare the results of protocol review with investigator reponses of actual practice. Quality assessment consisted of 5 items including random sequence generation, randomization method, allocation concealment, subject blinding, assessor blinding. Results : Randomization was performed using the proper procedure to insure that treatment assignment is unbiased and concealed from subjects in all clinical trials, According to protocols, 6(50%) of 12 clinical trials used computer-generated random numbers, 6(50%) remaining trials didn't describe the randomization method. Also all trials used appropriate randomization methods on the basis of the survey results: 8 trials used computer-generated random number, 2 used random table. Of 7 protocols in which allocation concealment was stated, 5(71%) reported appropriate method (Calling a central office or statisticians, Sealed opaque envelopes). However according to survey, 5(42%) of 12 trials used inappropriate allocation concealment (Keeping a master randomization list and referring to when subject entered the trial). In addition, the result of protocol review and survey response was not coincident in 5(42%) trials. Subject blinding was conducted in all except 1 clinical trials. Although 11(92%) of 12 trials were conducted using assessor blinding in actual practice, only 7(58%) reported that in protocol. Conclusion : Although randomization and blinding were conducted adequately, allocation concealment was used inadequately, Not only appropriate allocation concealment, but also every quality assessment item including randomization, blinding should be stated in more detail in protocol.

  • This paper discusses the applicability of Acoustic Emission (AE) to assess the damage in reinforced concrete (RC) structures subjected to complex dynamic loadings such as those induced by earthquakes. The AE signals recorded during this type of event can be complicated due to the arbitrary and random nature of seismicity and the fact that the signals are highly contaminated by many spurious sources of noise. This paper demonstrates that by properly filtering the AE signals, a very good correlation can be found between AE and damage on the RC structure. The basic experimental data used for this research are the results of fourteen seismic simulations conducted with a shake table on an RC slab supported on four steel columns. The AE signals were recorded by several low-frequency piezoelectric sensors located on the bottom surface of the slab. The evolution of damage under increasing values of peak acceleration applied to the shake table was monitored in terms of AE and dissipated plastic strain energy. A strong correlation was found between the energy dissipated by the concrete through plastic deformations and the AE energy calculated after properly filtering the signals. For this reason, a procedure is proposed to analyze the AE measured in a RC structure during a seismic event so that it can be used for damage assessment.
