Optimal Design of a Smart Actuator by using of GA for the Control of a Flexible Structure Experiencing White Noise Disturbance

  • This paper deals with the problem of placement/sizing of distributed piezo actuators to achieve the control objective of vibration suppression. Using the mean square response as a performance index in optimization, we obtain optimal placement and sizing of the actuator. The use of genetic algorithms as a technique for solving optimization problems of placement and sizing is explored. Genetic algorithms are also used for the control strategy. The analysis of the system and response moment equations are carried out by using the Fokker-Planck equation. This paper presents the design and analysis of an active controller and optimal placement/sizing of distributed piezo actuators based on genetic algorithms for a flexible structure under random disturbance, shows numerical example and the result.

  • It was recognized by some researchers that the disturbance variance in a censored regression model is frequently underestimated by the maximum likelihood method. This underestimation has implications for the estimation of marginal effects and asymptotic standard errors. For instance, the actual coverage probability of the confidence interval based on a maximum likelihood estimate can be significantly smaller than the nominal confidence level; consequently, a Bayesian estimation is considered to overcome this difficulty. The behaviors of the maximum likelihood and Bayesian estimators of disturbance variance are examined in a fixed effects panel regression model with a limited dependent variable, which is known to have the incidental parameter problem. Behavior under random effect assumption is also investigated.

  • A PID-feedforward controller and Robust Internal-loop Compensator (RIC) based on reinforcement learning using random variable sequences are provided to auto-tune parameters for each controller in the high-precision position control of PMLSM (Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor). Experiments prove the well-tuned controller could be reduced up to one-fifth level of tracking errors before learning by reinforcement learning. The RIC compared to the PID-feedforward controller showed approximately twice the performance in reducing tracking error and disturbance rejection.

  • Much of the study has been dong on the design of dual controller that guarantee the stability and improvement of the system performance. A dual controller concept is proposed to consist of first controller estimates the control law and second controller suppresses the combined noises due to numerical error and internal noise as well. These irregular disturbances are not only increasing the fatigue but also destabilize the system because of unwanted output performance. The 'stochastic controller' is used to suppress the irregular random disturbance. Simulation is conducted to reveal that the proposed dual stochastic controller is highly efficient one to control a system hybrid noises.

  • This paper consider the control for the vehicle suspension system using electro-rheological damper. The study is performed by using of FLC(Fuzzy Logic Controller). The model used in the simulation is quarter car and the road disturbance is regarded as white noise random process with zero mean. Proposed control technique shows good agreement compared with the result from the conventional on-off/bang-bang type control technique.

  • A design method of DPS control algorithm for adpting rotable thruster is introduced by applying servo system design method and the control algorithm is evaluated on the basis of the results of computer simulations performed for a semi-submersible 2-lower hull 8-column type platform. It is observed from the simulation results that position error due to the irregular drifting forces becomes zero after very short regulating time and dynamic positioning system is robust in spite of random disturbance.

  • Active synthetic aperture sonar on the small UUV is generated several trajectory disturbances under the influences of underwater environments, and causing a large error in the synthetic aperture processing. In this paper, we analyzed the effects of azimuth resolution for the phase mismatch of the synthetic aperture focus processing when the periodic or random trajectory disturbances was generated on the side direction. The simulation results show that ghost targets are generated and azimuth resolution is very deteriorated when disturbance amplitude is greater than $0.3{\lambda}$ and disturbance period is greater than $2L_{sa}$ in the periodic trajectory disturbances environments. And detection performance on the seabed small objects by the synthetic aperture processing is shown that there is a significant effects on the azimuth resolution depending on the types and conditions of the platform trajectory disturbance variations.

  • RAPD analyses were performed from twenty-four populations of Persicaria thunbergii(Sieb. & Zucc.) H. Gross ex Nakai. The length of amplified DNA fragments ranged from 200 to 1,900bp. 184 scorable RAPD markers were found from PCR reactions with sixteen random oligoprimers. Based on the results, populations of Persicaria thunbergii were classified into disturbance streams of urban and rural streams as well as natural streams. And the populations from natural streams showed having higher genetic similarites than those from highly disturbed streams, Also, the heterogenetic differences between the populations from natural and disturbed areas could be represented the results of the stream environmental changes.
