  • The rainbow hologram provides views of reconstruction with rainbow color within a large viewing zone. In our recent paper, a Fourier rainbow holographic display using diffraction grating and a white-light LED source was introduced. In this technique, the rainbow effect is realized by the dispersion of white-light source on diffraction grating, while the slit is implemented numerically by reducing the demands of the space-bandwidth product of the display. This paper presents a novel analysis on the visual perception of the Fourier rainbow holographic display using Wigner distribution. The view-dependent appearance of the image, including multispectral field of view and viewing zone, is investigated considering the observer and the display parameters. The resolution of the holographic view is also investigated. For this, a new quantitative assessment for image blur is introduced using Wigner distribution analysis. The analysis is supported with numerical simulations and experimentally captured optical reconstructions for the holograms of the computer model and real object generated with different slit size, reconstruction distance, and different observation conditions.

  • A simple 2-step astigmatic rainbow holography method using the characteristics of holographic aberration is proposed. Point sources are used to record and reconstruct primary hologram. When the primary hologram is reconstructed, object image is divided into two components by the holographic astigmatism. This characteristics of holographic astigmatism and cylindrical lens power are used to obtain rainbow hologram of sharp image, no matter how far from the hologram the obseved image locates, in front of the hologram. And this hologram has optimum viewing distance long enough.enough.

  • A real-time holography system using LCD with CCD camera is proposed. In this system, the rainbow hologram is used since it can be reconstructed by white light source. And to record on CCD camera, a kind of in-line holography method is used to widen the width of the fringe pattern. The interference fringe pattern by proposed system is detected with CCD camera and transferred to the LCD A 3-dimensional image is reconstructed when a white light source illuminates the LCD. So it can represent 3 dimensional moving images at real-time. In this paper, to confirm the usefulness of the proposed method, the reconstructed image by holographic film is compared to the same reconstruct image by LCD. In the recording of the interferenced processing, the optimal ratio of the reference and object beam intenstiy is also investigated.

And to record on CCD camera, a kind of in-line holography method is used to widen the width of the fringe pattern. The interference fringe pattern by proposed system is detected with CCD camera and transferred to the LCD. A 3-dimensional image is reconstructed when the white light source illuminates the LCD. If the position of the input image is changed, that of the reconstructed image is also changed. So it can represent 3-dimensional moving images at real-time. In this paper, to confirm the usefulness of the proposed method, the reconstructed image by holographic film is compared to the same reconstructed image by LCD. In the recording process, the optimal ratio of the reference and object beam intensity is also investigated.
