This paper presents the feasibility for improving the ride quality of railway vehicle equipped with semi-active suspension system using magnetorheological(MR) fluid damper. In order to achieve this goal, a fifteen degree of freedom of railway vehicle model, which includes a car body, bogie frame and wheel-set is proposed to represent lateral, yaw and roll motions. The MR damper system is incorporated with the governing equation of motion of the railway vehicle which includes secondary suspension. To illustrate the effectiveness of the controlled MR dampers on railway vehicle secondary suspension system, the sky-hook control law using the velocity feedback is adopted. Computer simulation for performance evaluation is performed using Matlab. Various control performances are demonstrated under external excitation which is the creep force between wheel and rail.
Intelligent agent is to decide what customers need on the internet and offer them accurate information. In this paper, the system which can recommend the tourism items in terms of customer‘s needs is proposed by appling the intelligent agent to railway tourism system. Most of previous agents are focused on price. But, this study proposes the Railway tourism system which offers each customer the best suitable information based on quality of information and reputation. The customer's needs are analyzed through intelligent agent and the information which is suitable for customer's needs is obtained the Artificial Neural Network Model.
This study presents wrong hand calculations for fault analysis at field on the real AC railway system. Hence, we correctly revised the hand calculations. We propose AC railway system model by using EMTDC. Fault studies are performed. We also compare revised hand calculations with EMTDC simulation to verify the proposed model made by EMTDC. So, we can confirm that the model made by using EMTDC is correctly designed.
This paper presents a simplified dynamics of railway vehicle for a tilting train simulator. The tilting train simulator has 6 electric-driven actuators and a visualization system with 1600mm-diameter dome screen. The each system shares the data by ethernet. In order to analyze the dynamics of railway vehicle and transfer the results of the analysis to the other system of the tilting train simulator in realtime base, We assumed the tilting train as a simplified rigid body model with primary and secondary suspensions. The simplified vehicle model has a 17-DOF. Through the running analysis on the tight curve with various radius, we verified the simplified vehicle model.

Electric railroad systems consist of rolling stock, track, signal and catenary system. In the catenary system, one of the most important factors is the impedance according to the design and characteristic. Before the catenary system is designed, the impedance should be precedently researched. The railroad catenary system is complex system which is composed by five conductors. The five conductors classify up and down feeders, up and down contact wire group, rail group. Therefore, we should compose the catenary system of the equivalent five-conductors model. In this paper, we suggest a geometrical model and a equivalent conductor model by using geometric mean radius of five conductors in the catenary system. Also, we calculate demanded parameter values in the model. By using those, line constants of five conductors are analyzed by applying the equivalent method called as the condensed joint matrix.

The traction power demand highly varies with time and train positions and the traction load is a large-capacity current at single phase converted from 3-phase power system. Subsequently, each phase current converted from 3-phase power system cannot be maintained in balance any longer and thus the traction load can bring about imbalance in three-phase voltage. Therefore, the exact assessment of voltage unbalance must be carried out preferentially as well as load forecast at stages of designing and planning for electric railway system. The evaluation of unbalance voltage in areas, such as electric railway depots should be a prerequisite with more accuracy. The conventional researches on voltage unbalance have dealt with connection schemes of the transformers used in ac AT-fed electric railroads system and induced formulas to briefly evaluate voltage unbalance in the system(3). These formulas are still being used widely due to their easy applicabilities on voltage unbalance evaluation. Meanwhile, they don't take into account detailed characteristics of ac AT-fed electric railroads system, being founded on some assumptions. Accordingly. accuracy still remains in question. This paper proposes a new method to more effectively estimate voltage unbalance index. In this method, numerous diverted circuits in electric railway depots are categorized in three components and each component is defined as a two-port network model. The equivalent circuit for the entire power supply system is also described into a two-port network model by making parallel and/or series connections of these components. Efficiency and accuracy in voltage unbalance calculation as well can be promoted by simplifying the circuits into two-port network models.
In order to achieve a comprehensive utilization of railway networks, it is necessary to accurately assess the timetable indicators that effect the train operation. This paper describes the parameter calibration for two timetable indicators: scheduled running time and scheduled dwell time. For the scheduled running time, an existing model is employed and the single timetable parameter (percentage of minimum running time) in that model is optimized. For the scheduled dwell time, two intrinsic characteristics: the significance of stations and the average headway at each station are proposed firstly to form a new model, and the corresponding timetable parameters (the weight of the significance and the weight of the average headway) are calibrated subsequently. The Floyd Algorithm is used to obtain the connectivity among stations, which represents the significance of the stations. A case study is conducted in a light rail transportation system with 17 underground stations. The results of this research show that the optimal value of the scheduled running time parameter can be automatically determined, and the proposed model for the scheduled dwell time works well with a high coefficient of determination and low relative root mean square error through the leave-one-out validation.
In this paper, a dynamic response mapping model of the wheel-rail system is established by using the support vector regression (SVR) method, and the hierarchical safety thresholds of the subgrade void are proposed based on the reliability theory. Firstly, the vehicle-track coupling dynamic model considering the subgrade void is constructed. Secondly, the subgrade void area, the subgrade compaction index K30 and the fastener stiffness are selected as random variables, and the mapping model between these three random parameters and the dynamic response of the wheel-rail system is built by using the orthogonal test and the SVR. The sensitivity analysis is carried out by the range analysis method. Finally, the hierarchical safety thresholds for the subgrade void are proposed. The results show that the subgrade void has the most significant influence on the carbody vertical acceleration, the rail vertical displacement, the vertical displacement and the slab tensile stress. From the range analysis, the subgrade void area has the largest effect on the dynamic response of the wheel-rail system, followed by the fastener stiffness and the subgrade compaction index K30. The recommended safety thresholds for the subgrade void of level I, II and III are 4.01㎡, 6.81㎡ and 9.79㎡, respectively.
A high-speed rail system represents a typical example of large-scale multi-disciplinary systems, consisting of subsystems such as train, electrical hardware, electronics, control, information, communication, civil technology etc. The Systems Engineering, as a methodology for engineering and management of today's ever-growing complex system, must be applied to development of such systems. This paper presents systems engineering framework model to have to be applied to the systems engineering technology development task for the korean next-generation high-speed railway systems in progress and demonstrates data models and schema for computer-aided systems engineering software, RDD-100, for use in its development and management.
This article proposes an integrated systems engineering and safety analysis model for safety-critical systems development. A methodology in system design for safety is considered during the early phase of the development life cycle of systems engineering process. The evolution of the design automation technology has enabled engineers to perform the model-based systems engineering. A Computer-Aided Systems Engineering(CASE) tool, CORE, is utilized to integrate the systems engineering model with a system safety analysis model. The results of the functional analysis phase can drive the analysis of the system safety. An example of Communications-Based Train Control(CBTC) system for an Automated Guided Transit(AGT) system demonstrated an application of the integrated model.
