4현시 철도신호체계에서 KTX 및 일반열차의 5현시 신호체계 운행을 위한 시스템 개선방안 (Improvement of Railway Signaling System for KTX and Conventional Trains Operated on a Five-Display Signal System Under a Four-Display Signaling System)

  • Gyeong-bu railway line in Korea between Seoul and Cheon-an was built as two double tracks. A four-display signaling system, only for the metro line, was installed on the second double track so KTX and conventional trains can only operate on the first double track. This study suggests a method to allow KTX and conventional trains operated on the five-display signaling system to respond to accidents and track defects on the second double-track under the four-display signal system by means of problem analysis, calculation of breaking distances for KTX and conventional trains at each break mode, and improvement of the ATS system.

  • 철도에 사용되고 있는 Safety critical systems 중 하나인 연동장치는 relay-based systems에서 computer-based systems으로 급속히 변환되고 있다. computer-based interlocking systems (CBI)의 안전성확보가 중요한 문제 중 하나로 떠오르고 있다. CBI를 구성하는 연동논리 software는 시스템 안전성에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 부분 중 하나이다. Formal methods 중 하나인 "Z"notation은 이 software 안전성 확보를 위해 software 명세에 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 "Z"notation을 이용하여 연동논리 일부분을 구현하였으며, Z/EVES를 이용하여 검증을 하였다.

  • The activities of managing and controlling the configuration of a system component over its life cycle are critical tasks in developing a high safety system as well as general system development. These configuration management activities should be defined through the management plan at the beginning of the life cycle, and should be performed continuously and systematically until the end of the project after the system or product development is completed. In this study, the configuration management process applied in the development of high safety railway signaling system was introduced and an efficient application proposals of it was proposed. In particular, configuration management through the establishment of a configuration management system based on computer tools is one of the important activities of maintaining the configuration integrity of the system or product.

  • The railway signaling system consists of micro-computerized vital devices on board and ground, which are connected to one another by track circuits, and interlocking equipment for route control. Therefore it is important to validate the required functions of developed system and interface between developed signaling systems. To verify the conditions and functions of signaling functions, the laboratory prototype test bench, which consists of personal computers LAN, will be developed. In this paper design of signaling system test-bench for high-speed signaling is described and developed software module are presented.

  • Recent advances in computer technology have brought more dependence on software to train control systems. Hence, the safety assurance of the vital software running on the railway system is very critical task and yet, not many works have been done. While much efforts have been reported to improve electronic hardware's safety, not so much systematic approaches to evaluate software's safety, especially for the vital software running on board train controllers. In this paper, we have developed the static software testing tool for railway signaling, especially Fagan Inspection module and checklists supporting module. This static testing tool for railway signaling can be utilized at the assessment phase, and also usefully at the software development stage also. It is anticipated that it will be greatly helpful for the evaluation on the software for railway signalling system.

  • Reliability of the Railway signaling system which is safety critical is determined by reliability of hardware and software. Reliability of hardware is easily predicted and demonstrated through lots of different studies and environmental tests, while that of software is estimated by the iterative test outcomes so estimates of reliability will depend on the inputs. Combinations of inputs to and outputs from the software may be mostly combinatoric and therefore all the combinations could not be tested. As a result, it has been more important to calculate reliability by means of a simpler method. This paper identifies the reliability prediction equation applicable to reliability prediction for railway signaling system software, and performs the simulation of onboard equipment of automatic train control for high speed train to review reliability prediction and validity.

  • The performance requirements on the safety-based functionality of railway signal systems have been reinforced and the effort for enhancement of the existing system or development of the new system is being accordingly made. In particular, various technical researches on replacement or improvement of the existing ATS(Automatic Train Stop) signaling system are now in progress for better operational efficiency. In this study, the complementary points for improvement or replacement of the currently used system(i.e., ATS) will be derived in terms of operating efficiency in an integrated operating environment with the newly introduced system(e.g., ATC: Automatic Train Control). This study can contribute to derive the need for improvement of the signaling system by checking the interface problems and comparing between different systems through the analysis of real operation cases in the field. Eventually, this analysis can be applied to prevent and estimate the collision accidents can be caused by the failure of the signaling system in advance. In addition, the results can be used to provide a future direction to secure the reliability in the parallel operation by integration based on different railway signaling systems.

  • The railway signaling system is being converted to the computer system from the existing mechanical device, and the dependency on software is being increased rapidly. Though the size and degree of complexity of software for railway signaling system are slower than the development speed of hardware, it is expected that the size will be grown bigger gradually and the degree of complexity will be increased also. Accordingly, the validation of reliability and safety of embedded software for train control system was started to become influential as the important issue. In this paper, we presented boundary value analysis tool for railway signaling system software, and presented its result of implementation.

  • ERTMS/ETCS Level 1 ATP, ATC and ATS are Signaling Systems adopted in korea. For operating in three different trackside signaling systems, train must have individual onboard signaling systems, ATP, ATC and ATS. Three signaling systems in one train is the main cause to increase installation and maintenance cost. Also it is need more effort to change a onboard signaling system depend on the trackside signaling system. those things should lead to decrease efficiency of the onboard signaling system. one integrated onboard signaling system for ATP, ATC and ATS is the good solution for those problems. IOSS is an integrated Onboard Signaling System and still developing. In this paper, we introduce the methodology of model-based development of IOSS. IOSS has one superviser process and several functional blocks to process individual signaling system s. Rhapsody which is CASE tool is used to construct the structure and develop the software for IOSS.

IEC 61508에 의한 열차제어장치용 PES 구성에 관한 연구 (IEC 61508 into PES for Train Control Systems)

  • PES have been recently required to implement railway industry for its application flexibility. The PES should be commensurated with railway safety requirements. It achieved its safety through redundant PES. The redundant systems run with voting functions. The successful major voting result becomes the output of the redundant system. The redundant system have to be synchronized to vote each output results. This paper proposed an algorithm for synchronizing and a voter. The proposed algorithm and the voter are verified using simulation.
