Effects of duck farming restriction measures on the incidence of avian influenza

  • Duck farming restriction refers to a program in which duck farms suspend their operations for a certain period at times when the risk of avian influenza (AI) is high and receive compensation from the Korean government. This study analyzed the effect of this duck farming restriction on the incidence of AI using data on regional AI incidence rates, the program participation rate, and characteristics of poultry farming in 2016 (before the implementation of the restriction), as well as data from 2020 and 2021 (when new AI outbreaks occurred). In this study, the treatment group was divided into five subgroups according to the policy participation rate and a difference-in-difference (DID) estimation was conducted using certain covariates, in this case the average number of ducks raised, the land area, the number of high-susceptibility farms, the number of low-susceptibility farms, the average number of farms within a 3 km radius, the average distance to the nearest farm, and a year dummy. The results showed that when more than 30% of all duck farms in a region participated in the farming restriction, it had a statistically significant effect on the incidence of AI. Specifically, when more than 30, 40, 50, and 60% of all duck farms participated in the farming restriction, the AI incidence rate decreased by 0.7184, 1.0025, 1.5844, and 1.5843%p, respectively.

  • We prove that a Banach space that is convex-transitive and such that for some element u in the unit sphere, and for every subspace Μ containing u, it happens that the subset of norm attaining functionals on Μ is second Baire category in $M^{*}$ is, in fact, almost-transitive and superreflexive. We also obtain a characterization of finite-dimensional spaces in terms of functions that attain their supremum: a Banach space is finite-dimensional if, for every equivalent norm, every rank-one operator attains its numerical radius. Finally, we describe the subset of norm attaining functionals on a space isomorphic to $\ell$$_1$, where the norm is the restriction of a Luxembourg norm on $L_1$. In fact, the subset of norm attaining functionals for this norm coincides with the subset of norm attaining functionals for the usual norm.m.

모범거래기준과 영업지역침해: 한국 커피 프랜차이즈 산업을 중심으로 (Radius Restriction and Franchise Encroachment in the Korean Coffee Franchise Industry)

  • 영업지역침해의 문제는 기존 가맹사업자의 영업지역에 가맹본부가 새로운 유통채널을 진입시킴으로써 기존 가맹사업자와 경쟁관계가 형성되는 과정에서 나타난다. 이에 한국 공정거래위원회는 2012년에 프랜차이즈 업종 별로 신규 점포의 개설 시 지켜야 하는 가맹점 간의 최소거리를 설정한 모범거래기준을 제시하였으며, 2014년에는 가맹점의 독점적 영업지역 설정 의무를 가맹사업법 상에 명시하였다. 본 연구는 배타적 영업지역 제한과 영업지역침해에 대한 연구들을 검토하고 선진국의 가맹점법 및 공정거래 정책에서의 변화를 살펴본 후 국내의 제도와 비교하였다. 또한, 국내 영업지역보호 규제의 제 개정이 프랜차이즈의 계약과 관계 및 경쟁상황에 미친 영향에 대해 커피전문점 프랜차이즈 통계자료를 중심으로 간략히 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 모범거래기준 기간 동안 규제를 적용 받은 브랜드 점포의 영업지역 내에서 동일브랜드 점포 수 증가가 정체하였으며, 모범거래기준 시행기간과 가맹법 개정 후 기간에서 진입 후 2년 이내에 퇴출하는 점포의 비중이 감소함을 발견하였다.

The cost-effectiveness of alternative control measures against the 2010-2011 epidemic of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Andong, Republic of Korea

  • The cost-effectiveness of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) control strategies was evaluated using a simulation model fitted to the 2010/11 FMD epidemic in the city of Andong, Republic of Korea. Seven FMD-control strategies were evaluated with respect to the direct cost of a FMD-control strategy, such as slaughtering, movement restriction, and vaccination. All the strategies included pre-emptive slaughtering, movement restriction, and vaccination, but the levels of each control option were different. The simulated median cost of the baseline FMD-control strategy (three kilometers of pre-emptive slaughtering area, 100 days of movement restriction and vaccination of all FMD-susceptible animals in the study area) was estimated to be USD 99.7 million. When a five kilometer vaccination area was applied (with the other control measures being the same as the baseline strategy), the simulated median cost was reduced to USD 81.1 million from USD 99.7. The simulated median costs were USD 107.6 million for a five kilometer radius slaughtering area and USD 168.8 million for 60 days of movement restriction. The FMD-control strategy cost decreased with increasing number of farms depopulated per day. The probability of passive surveillance being effective or the probability of the successful implementation of movement restrictions were increased. Cost-effectiveness analysis is a suitable tool for evaluating the financial consequences of FMD-control strategies by comparing the cost of control strategies for a specific area.

축류형 터빈 익형의 역설계에 의한 최소 형상변수에 관한 연구 (Study on the Minimization of Shape Parameters by Reverse Design of an Axial Turbine Blade)

  • Several reverse design methods are developed and applied to the suction or pressure surface for finding design values of blade geometry for a given axial turbine blade. Re-designed blade profiles using shape parameters are compared with measured blade data. Essential shape parameters for blade design are induced by the procedure of reverse design for best fitting. Characteristics of shape parameters are evaluated through the system design method and restriction conditions of structural stability or aerodynamic flow loss. Some of shape parameters i.e blade radius or exit blade angle etc., are classified to weakly adjustable shape parameters, otherwise strongly adjustable shape parameters which would be applied for controlling blade shape. Average deviation values between the measured data and re-designed blade using shape parameters are calculated for each design method. Comparing with the average deviation for a given blade geometry, minimum shape parameters required to design a blade geometry are obtained.

고 망간강 2상 혼합조직의 열적 안정성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Thermal Stability of Duplex High Mn-Steel Structure)

  • The thermal stability of duplex high Mn-steel structure have been investigated using 15%Mn~1.0~2.4%C steels which are composed of ${\gamma}$-and ${\theta}$-phases in the range of temperature from 900 to $1100^{\circ}C$, and time from 50 to 300h. The results are as follows ; 1) The grain growth in single-phase region proceeds by grain boundary migration and the relation between mean radius $\bar{r}$ and annealing time t is described as follows ; $\bar{r}^2-{\bar{r}_0}^2=k_0{\cdot}t$ 2) The grain growth of duplex, (${\gamma}+{\theta}$), strucrure is slower than that single phase because the chemical composition of ${\gamma}$-and ${\theta}$-phases differs esch others. 3) The grain of (${\gamma}+{\theta}$) duplex structure grow slowly in a mode of Ostwald ripening. Because grain boundaries of ${\gamma}$-phase migrate under a restriction of pinning by ${\theta}$-phases. 4) In the duplex structures. the dispersed structures change to the dual-structures, as the volume fraction of the dispersed second-phase increase. Consequently, the growth-law, which is controlled by boundary-diffusion change to that of the volume diffusion-mechanism.

소형축류형 터빈에서의 부분분사 유동특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study of Partial Admitted Flow Characteristics on a Small Axial-Type Turbine)

  • An experimental study is conducted to investigate flow characteristics on a small axial-type turbine which is applied as the rotating part of air tools. It operates in a partial admission due to consumption restriction of the high pressure air. In this operating condition, it is necessary to understand flow characteristics for obtaining the high specific output power. Tested turbine consists of two stages and the mean radius of flow passage is less than 10mm. A 6 bar pressure air is used to operate the turbine. The experimental results show that flow angles depend on the measuring location along the circumferential direction, but its discrepancy is alleviated along the axial direction. Absolute flow velocities show three times difference according to the measuring location at the exit of the first rotor due to the partial admission, but they show similar value at the exit of the second rotor by the velocity diffusion. From the measured flow angles and velocities, a ratio of output power obtained by the first and second rotor is estimated. It shows that the output power obtained by the second rotor is about $11\%$ to that by the first rotor at 60,000 RPM. It is effective therefore to improve the first rotor for increasing the turbine output power.

1q21.1 microdeletion identified by chromosomal microarray in a newborn with upper airway obstruction

  • A 1q21.1 microdeletion is an extremely rare chromosomal abnormality that results in phenotypic diversity and incomplete penetrance. Patients with a 1q21.1 microdeletion exhibit neurological-psychiatric problems, microcephaly, epilepsy, facial dysmorphism, cataract, and thrombocytopenia absent radius syndrome. We reported a neonate with confirmed intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), micrognathia, glossoptosis, upper airway obstruction, facial dysmorphism, and eye abnormality at birth as well as developmental delay at the age of 1 year. These clinical manifestations, except for the IUGR and upper airway obstruction, in the neonate indicated a 1q21.1 microdeletion. Here, we report a rare case of a 1q21.1 microdeletion obtained via paternal inheritance in a newborn with upper airway obstruction caused by glossoptosis and tracheal stenosis.

상수관망 수리해석을 통한 폭염 저감 시설로써의 소화전 활용방안연구 (A study on the use of fire hydrants as a heat wave reduction facility through hydraulic analysis of water supply network)

  • 본 연구에서는 상수관망 수리해석을 통한 폭염 저감 시설로써의 소화전 활용방안연구를 수행하였다. 소화전 설치 지점을 폭염저감을 위해 개방한다고 가정하고, 지점별 수압에 따른 살수반경을 도출하고 전체 대상구역의 살수면적에 따른 도심지 온도의 저감비율을 살수차운영에 따른 살수면적과 비교하였다. 소화전 개방에 따른 살수면적은, 상수관망 수리해석을 통해 소화전이 설치된 절점에서의 압력값을 도출한후, 압력값에 따른 살수반경 관계식을 통해 산정하였다. 제안된 방법론을 2개의 지역에 적용한 결과, 소화전에 의한 살수방법의 온도저감 효과는 절대적인 살수면적의 차이에 따라, 살수차에 의한 살수방법 대비 낮게 도출될 수 있다는 한계점을 보였다. 그러나, 소화전은 살수차와 달리 물공급양에 대한 상대적 제한이 없고 동일한 지역에 대한 지속적인 분할살수가 가능하므로 일정 구역의 살수면적이 확보될 경우 살수차 대비 상대적으로 효과성 있는 폭염저감 효과를 도출할 수 있을것으로 기대된다.

TOD형 도시재생사업의 교통영향 분석 (Traffic Impacts of Transit-oriented Urban Regeneration)

  • 최근 밀도 높은 도시재생사업이 활발해지고 그에 따른 교통문제에 대한 우려가 커지면서 TOD사업이 관심을 끌고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 TOD형 고밀개발이 교통에 미치는 영향을 추정해 봄으로써 TOD형 고밀개발의 효과와 문제점을 파악하는데 있다. 보다 구체적으로는 두 개의 역이 교차하는 교차역세권인 강남구청 역세권 주변 반경 400m 구간을 사례지역으로 선정하여 구체적인 개발시나리오를 작성한 뒤, 초고밀 주택을 건설했을 때 교통량, 승용차통행거리, 시간, 수단분담율, 주변지역 통행속도 등의 제반 교통여건이 좋다는 사실을 밝히고자 하는 것이다. 분석결과 강남구 전체에서 1개의 역세권 개발에 불과하지만 강남구 전체적으로 교통환경에 의미있는 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 역세권 고밀개발시 주변의 교통량은 증가하지만 강남구 전체적으로는 감소하는 것으로 나타났고, 통행시간과 거리가 감소되어 교통환경이 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 더욱이 주차장 공급이 규제될 때 개선효과는 보다 가시적인 것으로 분석되었다. 통행속도 측면에서 볼 때 두 개의 안 모두 속도가 4.1% 가량 증가되는 것으로 나타났지만 주차장공급제한으로 인한 개선효과는 가로의 속도에는 구체적으로 반영되지 않은 것으로 분석되었다. 이와 같이 이유는 개선된 교통상황을 이용하기 위해 새로이 진입하게 되는 유발교통량 때문일 것으로 판단된다. 수단분담의 경우 미래의 교차역세권이기 때문에 고밀개발에 따른 승용차감축 및 지하철 수단 분담율 개선 효과는 비교적 크게 나타났다. 특히 주차장 공급관리가 시행될 때 지하철 이용비율은 2배이상 증가하는 것으로 나타나 주차장공급규제와 지하철 이용은 밀접한 연관관계에 있음을 알 수 있다.
