According to database of medical institutions of health insurance review & assessment service in 2013, 1118 hospitals and clinics have department of radiology in Korea. And there are CT, fluoroscopic and general radiographic equipment in those hospitals. Above all, general radiographic equipment is the most commonly used in the radiology department. And most of the general radiographic equipment are changing the digital radiography system from the film-screen types of the radiography system nowadays. However, most of the digital radiography department are used the film-screen types of the radiography system. Therefore, in this study, we confirmed present conditions of technical items for general radiography used in hospital and research on general radiographic techniques in domestic medical institutions. We analyzed 26 radiography projection method including chest, skull, spine and pelvis which are generally used in the radiography department.
This study was aimed to evaluate the absorbed dose in brain of dental radiography. For radiographic exposure, PLD(photoluminescence dosimetry) chips placed in Rando phantom to measurement the absorbed dose to pituitary gland, orbit, maxillary sinus and submandibular glands, thyroid gland, esophagus. Equipments were used Kodak 2200, Kodak 8000C dental radiographic systems and computed tomography(Lightspeed VCT). The absorbed doses were measured at the same exposure parameters and distance by the clinical factor(kV, mA, sec). The result were as follows ; The absorbed dose for intra-oral radiography were 0.02~2.47cGy, the greatest absorbed dose was 2.47cGy for thyroid gland in maxillary right molar projection. the lowest adsorbed dose was 0.02cGy for submandibular glands in lower anterior projection. The absorbed dose for extra-oral radiography were 0.36~3.44cGy of cephalometric method, 0.14~12.82cGy of panoramic method, 8.17~253.63cGy of computed tomography, the greatest adsorbed dose was 253.63cGy for submandibular glands in maxillary CT scan. the lowest adsorbed dose was 0.14cGy for orbit in panoramic method. As a result, extra-oral radiography was measured more than intra-oral radiography. In particular, method which used computed tomography was measured more than 100 times than intra-oral radiography highly. Therefore, you must show a guideline in extra-oral radiography and an effort to reduce absorbed dose is demanded.

For the enhancement of a comprehension in temporomandibular joint radiographs, the author has compared and analysed the roentgenographic images of the temporomandibular joint of human dry skull which was taken by submentovertex projection, panoramic radiography, oblique lateral transcranial projection, corrected anterio-posterior tomogram and corrected lateral tomogram. The obtained results were as follows. 1. The submentovertex projection represented in detail the both poles and the posterior surface of the condylar head of the mandible. 2. The oblique lateral transcranial projection represented the articular space, the outer contour of the condylar head and the position of the condylar head within the mandibular fossa, but the relationship of the temporomandibular joint was not revealed accurate, because of the oblique direction of a central ray in taking radiographs. 3. The corrected antero-posterior tomogram was superior method in representation of roent- genographic images of the superior surface and the both poles of the condylar head and the corrected lateral tomogram was considered as the most accurate method among some radiographic techniques for the interpretation of articular space and condyle-fossa relationship. 4. It was possible to observe three-dimensionally the head of condyle with the combinated use of submentovertex projection, corrected antero-posterior tomogram and corrected lateral tomogram.
Scattered radiation is inherent phenomenon of x-ray, which occurs to the subject (or patient). Therefore it cannot be avoidable but also interacts as serious noise factor because the only meaningful information on x-ray radiography is primary x-ray photons. The purpose of this study was to quantify scattered radiation for various shooting parameters and to verify the effect of anti-scatter grid. We employed beam stopper method to characterize scatter to primary ratio. To evaluate effect on the projection images calculated contrast to noise ratio of given shooting parameters. From the experiments, we identified the scattered radiation increases in thicker patient and smaller air gap. Moreover, scattered radiation degraded contrast to noise ratio of the projection images. We find out that the anti-scatter grid rejected scattered radiation effectively, however there were not fewer than 100% of scatter to primary ratio in some shooting parameters. The results demonstrate that the scattered radiation was serious problem of medical x-ray system, we confirmed that the scattered radiation was not considerable factor of dig ital radiog raphy.
To establish the method for the most effective radiography and fluoroscopy, the abdominal organs of cats were investigeted using omnidirectional angles with the center of the body as the axis using an omnidirectional protective shielding X-ray system and a $360^{\circ}$ rotary restraint unit for use in small animals. The organs examined were the diaphragm, liver, stomach, colon, spleen and kidney. The results obtained in the present study were as follows: 1. Regardless of gas in the stomach present or not, it was feasible to distinguish the left and right crura in the lumbar portion of diaphragm in the oblique projection inclined over $30^{\circ}$ and under $90^{\circ}$ from the lateral projection. 2. Outlines of the exterior left lobe and the interior right lobe of the liver were observed in the oblique image inclined up to $60^{\circ}$ from the lateral image, while that of the exterior right lobe was noted in the oblique image inclined up to $60^{\circ}$ from the ventrodorsal-dorsoventral images. 3. It was necessary to have gas present in the stomach for detailed morphological observations of the stomach. It was most clearly observed in the right $30^{\circ}$ ventral-left dorsal oblique projection($120^{\circ}$ image) and the left $60^{\circ}$ dorsal-right ventral oblique projection($300^{\circ}$ image). 4. Morphology of the colon was observable in detail by the oblique projection inclined over $30^{\circ}$ from the lateral projection. 5. To observe the whole spleen it was required to have images from the ventrodorsal projection ($90^{\circ}$ image) to the right $60^{\circ}$ ventral-left dorsal oblique projection ($150^{\circ}$ image) as well as those from the dorsoventral projection ($270^{\circ}$ image) to the left-right lateral projection $0^{\circ}$ image). 6. Dorsal and ventral sides of the kidney were observable in the oblique images inclined $30^{\circ}$ from the lateral image. 7. Considering above findings collectively, it was thought that the results of present study might be useful for the analysis of abnormalies in each organ of cat.
This study was done for the purpose of graphing rather improved technique through reviewing conventional technigue of the thoracic vertebrae lateral projection. The roentgenographic images which were taken at Korea University Hospital from January, 1976 to December, 1977 were observed for this study. The results were as belows: 1. The quality of diagnostic radiograph turned out that good is 21.4%, intermediate is 40.7% and poor is 37.9%. 2. The poor quality of images the caused by overlapping shadows(59.6%), incorrect position of patients(15.0%), motion of patients(7.5%), over-exposure(8.3%), under-exposure(6.7%) and processing faults(2.9%). The images were taken by following four methods of experiments were campared and researched in order to improve the problems of conventional technigues which were came out on the poor radiographes. 1. (Method 1) Low mA-long time exposure during normal respiration 2. (Method 2) Short time exposure during normal respiration 3. (Method 3) After deep inspiration, short time exposure during expiration 4. (Method 4) After full expiration, short time exposure during inspiration. In a result of the above experiments, it was found that the improved image could be got from the method 3.
The Study Evaluated Radiography Images using the Mastoid Process Axial Oblique Projection (Arcelin) imaging method for the Diagnosis of Pyramid Ridge, Mastoid Process, Mastoid Process air cells, Tympanum, Internal auditory and petrous in Supine Position. The subjective ROC (receiver operation characteristic) evaluation method was conducted on five Radiological technologists who have worked in the Image medical Department of University Hospitals for more than 8 years, and the Objective Evaluation, signal-to-noise Ratio (SNR), was evaluated and Analyzed. The Cronbach Alpha value was significantly higher at 0.816. In the Image ROC Evaluation Taken by Tilting the X-ray Tube 5°, 10°, 15° toward the leg by 10°, it Scored 34 points, and in the overall evaluation, the SNR scored high at 6,549. In Addition, In the Image Evaluation taken by Tilting the X-ray Tube 5°, 10°, and 15° toward the head, it Scored 32 points In the Image ROC Evaluation taken by tilting 5°, and in the Objective Evaluation, SNR received the highest score of 6,732.
Purpose: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) with that of parallel(PPA) and oblique projected periapical(OPA) radiography for the detection of different types of peri-implant bone defects. Materials and Methods: Forty implants inserted into bovine rib blocks were used. Thirty had standardized bone defects(10 each of angular, fenestration, and dehiscence defects), and 10 were defect-free controls. CBCT, PPA, and OPA images of the samples were acquired. The images were evaluated twice by each of 2 blinded observers regarding the presence or absence and the type of the defects. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity were determined for each radiographic technique. The 3 modalities were compared using the Fisher exact and chi-square tests, with P<0.05 considered as statistical significance. Results: High inter-examiner reliability was observed for the 3 techniques. Angular defects were detected with high sensitivity and specificity by all 3 modalities. CBCT and OPA showed similar AUC and sensitivity in the detection of fenestration defects. In the identification of dehiscence defects, CBCT showed the highest sensitivity, followed by OPA and PPA, respectively. CBCT and OPA had a significantly greater ability than PPA to detect fenestration and dehiscence defects(P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of OPA radiography in addition to routine PPA imaging as a radiographic follow-up method for dental implantation greatly enhances the visualization of fenestration and dehiscence defects. CBCT properly depicted all defect types studied, but it involves a relatively high dose of radiation and cost.
In lateral projection imaging method of knee joint, a method that adjusts the incidence angle of central X-ray toward the head side to $5{\sim}7^{\circ}$ in true lateral position which is existing recommended is called imaging method A, Method of imaging the central X-ray perpendicular to the horizontal plane of the examination table toward the knee is called imaging method B, and a method in which the central X-ray is perpendicularly applied to the joints while the lateral side of the distal tibia is compensated by radiolucent materials is called as method C. After tests each imaging method to classified study subject respectively, the joint space distance and the distance between lateral and medial condyle of femur were measured and compared as the quantitative index from the three imaging methods. In addition, the convenience of each imaging method was confirmed through questionnaires to practician. According to the result of the quantitative index, there is no statistically significant difference in imaging method A and C(p>0.05). However, imaging method B showed a significant difference in both A and C(p<0.05). As a result of evaluating the convenience of the imaging method, imaging method A was relatively assessed lower in all items than imaging methods B and C, and as a small difference, imaging method B is assessed higher than C. In this study suggested new knee joint lateral projection imaging method, by using a simple support device, could describe joint space as not much different as existing recommended method without some complex process, and could increase convenience of the practician in the process of the imaging.

This study was proven for the T-spine breathing technique in lateral projection, using computer radiography (CR), charge coupled device (CCD), indirect digital radiography (IDR) and direct digital radiography (DDR). All images were evaluated and compared with CNR and SNR measured with the mean pixels and the standard deviation as setting ROI of spinous process, pedicle, vertebral body, intervertebral foramen and intervertebral disk using Image J. In experiment results of 4 type detectors, T-spine breathing technique was indicated as excellent in ROI of spinous process, pedicle, vertebral body, intervertebral foramen and intervertebral disk. As T-spine breathing technique indicated excellent images compared to the existing T-spine lateral radiography, this method would be useful for elderly patients who have difficulty in deep exhalation. This study was indicated the application possibility of T-spine breathing technique by presenting contrast to noise ratio (CNR) and signal to noise ratio (SNR) with quantitative value in 4 type detectors.
