  • The radio noise produced by corona discharge in high voltage transmission tines is one of the most important line design considerations. Therefore it is necessary to pre-evaluate radio noise for transmission line designers using Prediction formulas or field test results. In this Paper, more accurate and useful formulas for Predicting radio noise during fair and foul weathers in AC transmission lines were proposed through comparison with the existing formulas. Also it was verified by comparing with the long-term measured data from operating lines that the Proposed formulas are very accurate. The Proposed prediction formulas are developed by the applications of nonlinear least square optimization method to radio noise database collected from lines throughout the world.

  • According to opening the domestic existing lines and High-Speed Lines(HSL) depending on each section and phase-in, there were constructed in railway over state-of-the-art radio communication networks. Therefore, there have been 3 wireless communication networks in domestic railways in accordance with running sections as like VHF, TRS-ASTRO and TRS-TETRA. For instance, the VHF networks were constructed in exsiting lines and TRS-ASTRO were Kyungbu HSL phase-1 except Seoul-Kwangmyung section, downtown in Daejeon City and that of Daegu City. And it was constructed in DongDaegu-Busan section of Kyungbu HSL phase-2, Osong-Kwangju section of Honam HSL phase-1 and would be done in Kwangju-Mokpo of Hanam HSL phase-2 and Soosu-Pyungtaek of Metropolitan Area Line by TRS-TETRA. In this paper, we described some important problems of radio communication management and investigated current state of radio communication for railways. Moreover, we presented the necessity of integrated radio networks for domestic railways.

  • We present NIR spectroscopic data of young radio quasars obtained from Flamingos-2 (F2) at Gemini-South. The targets are originally selected from Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer survey in combination with radio survey data, such as FIRST and NVSS. Our goal is to find observational evidence of jet-driven outflows, which is expected to be present in young luminous quasars from the theoretical studies. While 16 targets were observed with F2, narrow emission lines ([O III] or Hα) were detected in 7 targets. FWHM of the emission lines (up to 2500 km/s) were remarkably broad compared to ordinary quasars, revealing the presence of strong outflows. The black hole mass estimated from Eddington limit ranges from ~108 to 109 solar mass, indicating that the target quasars are likely to be progenitors of massive galaxies. Finally, we present the comparisons between the outflow velocity and the physical properties of radio jets derived from the VLA radio imaging data, in order to investigate the physical connection between the ionized outflows and radio jets.

  • We study the radio properties at 1.4 GHz of Seyfert galaxies with strong forbidden highionization lines (FHILs), selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey - a large-sized sample containing nearly equal proportion of diverse range of Seyfert galaxies showing similar redshift distributions compiled by using the Very Large Array survey images. The radio detection rate is low, 49%, which is lower than the detection rate of several other known Seyfert galaxy samples. These galaxies show low star formation rates and the radio emission is dominated by the active nucleus with ≤10% contribution from thermal emission, and possibly, none show evidence for relativistic beaming. The radio detection rate, distributions of radio power, and correlations between radio power and line luminosities or X-ray luminosity for narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1), Seyfert 1 and Seyfert 2 galaxies are consistent with the predictions of the unified scheme hypothesis. Using correlation between radio and [O III] λ 5007 Å luminosities, we show that ∼8% sample sources are radio-intermediate and the remaining are radio-quiet. There is possibly an ionization stratification associated with clouds on scales of 0.1-1.0 kpc, which have large optical depths at 1.4GHz, and it seems these clouds are responsible for free-free absorption of radio emission from the core; hence, leading to low radio detection rate for these FHIL-emitting Seyfert galaxies

  • A spectral line survey is performed from 159.7 to 164.7 GHz toward Orion-KL, as an extension of our previous line survey from 138.3 to 150.7 GHz with the same 14 m radio telescope of Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. Typical system temperatures were 260 - 1000 K to achieve a sensitivity of about 0.02 - 0.04 K in TA unit. A total of 63 line spectra are detected in this survey. Among them, 54 lines lines are found to be the first detections towards an astronomical source and only 9 spectral lines have been previously identified from other observations. Forty-eight of 54 lines are believed to be from the known transitions of the known molecules, while 6 lines are 'unidentified'. All detected lines are found to be from a total of 10 molecular species and their isotopic variants. The molecular species with most numerous detected transitions are $HCOOCH_3$ (22), followed by $CH_3OCH_3$ (7), $C_2H_5CN$ (7), and $SO_2$ (6). The LTE rotation diagram analysis using all homogeneous data with those from previous survey gives more reliable determination of physical quantities. The derived values of the rotation temperatures and column densities for $HCOOCH_3$, $CH_3OCH_3$, and $SO_2$ are are 75 $\~$ 197 K and $1.5 {\~}18 {\times} 10^{15}\;cm^{-2}$, respectively.

  • A stochastic model to predict radio interference field as caused by corona discharges on high voltage transmission lines has been developed. This model is based on corona discharge distributed randomly in time and space. A stochastic model for the corona current induced by corona discharges on power lines is proposed. On the basis of the proposed corona current model, a rigorous analysis is presented to evaluate the radio interference (RI) field caused by corona discharges on a single conductor using the stochastic method.

  • A molecular line survey towards the UC H II region G34.3+0.15 from 155.3 to 165.3GHz has been conducted with the TRAO 14-m radio telescope. Combined with our previous observations from 84.7 to 115.6GHz and 123.5 to 155.3GHz (Paper I), the spectral coverage of this survey in G34.3+0.15 now runs from 85 to 165 GHz. From these latest observations, a total of 18 lines from 6 species were detected. These include four new lines corresponding to ${\Delta}$J = 0, ${\Delta}$K = 1 transitions of the $CH_3OH$ E-type species, and two new lines corresponding to transitions from $SO_2$ and $HC_3N$. These 6 new lines are $CH_3OH$[1(1) - 1(0)E], $CH_3OH$[2(1) - 2(0)E], $CH_3OH$[3(1) - 3(0)E], $CH_3OH$[4(1) - 4(0)E], $SO_2$[14(1, 13) -14(0, 14)] and $HC_3N$[18 -17]. We applied a rotation diagram analysis to derive rotation temperatures and column densities from the methanol transitions detected, and combined with NRAO 12-m data from Slysh et al. 1999. Applying a two-component fit, we find a cold component with temperature 13-16K and column density $3.3-3.4 {\times} 10^{14} cm^{-2}$, and a hot component with temperature 64 - 83K and column density $9.3{\times}10^{14} - 9.7 {\times} 10^{14} cm^{-2}$. On the other hand, applying just a one-component fit yields temperatures in the 47 -62 K range and column densities from $7.5-1.1 {\times} 10^{15} cm^{-2}$.

  • In analog and digital electronic systems, crosstalk between transmission lines on the printed circuit board can degrade the performance of equipment operations. This paper presents a technique to analyze the effects of via fence, which is based on additional transmission lines grounded by vias. The technique is composed of a circuit concept approach for transmission line sections md an impedance modeling of via hole sections. All sections are represented by ABCD parameters and they are cascaded. Finally, this technique was verified by comparing the measurement results with the simulation ones.

  • This paper introduces a ring hybrid coupler using shunt capacitors, high impedance lines and CRLH-TLs (Composite Right/Left-Handed Transmission Lines) with size reduction and bandwidth enhancement. The reduced method of line length uses to combine a short length high impedance line and shunt capacitors. Also, there is combined CRLH meta-material so as to obtain wide bandwidth of transmission line using nonlinear phase characteristic of CRLH-TL that consists of series capacitors and shunt inductors. The implemented ring hybrid coupler shows a novel design with compact size that is smaller than 10% and bandwidth is larger than 60% of conventional ring hybrid coupler.
