  • Partial high frequency bands were allocated to the operation of ocean surface radars that monitor the sea surface currents and waves in WRC-12. On that basis, government-related organizations revised the table of domestic frequency allocation. In order to study radio environments in the allocated bands for ocean radar, tests of the radio signal spectrum were carried at 7-sites using the receiver of the ocean surface radar system operated with a shutdown of the transmitter for 10-60 min. The results showed that no serious radio noises occur at 25 and 43 MHz bands, indicating a good radio environment for the ocean surface radar operation. However, at 13 MHz band, it was difficult to generate stable and confidential data from the ocean surface radar because serious radio noises occurred continuously.

  • Although the link between activity in the nuclei of galaxy and galactic mergers has been under scrutiny for several years, it is still unclear to what extent and for which populations of active galaxies merger-triggered activity is relevant. The environments of AGN allow an indirect probe of the past merger history and future merger probability of these systems, suffering less from sensitivity issues when extended to higher redshifts than traditional morphological studies of AGN host galaxies. Here we present results from our investigation of the environment of radio selected sources out to a redshift z=2. We employ the first data release J-band catalog of the new near-IR Infrared Medium-Deep Survey (IMS), 1.4 GHz radio data from the Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty-cm (FIRST) survey and a deep dedicated VLA survey of the VIMOS field, covering a combined total of 20 sq. degrees. At a flux limit of the combined radio catalog of 0.1 mJy, we probe over 8 orders of magnitude of radio luminosity. Using the second closest neighbor density parameters, we test whether active galaxies inhabit denser environments. We find evidence for a sub-population of radio-selected AGN that reside in significantly overdense environments at small scales, although we do not find significant overdensities for the bulk of our sample. We show that radio-AGN in the most underdense environments have vigorous ongoing star formation. We interpret these results in terms of the triggering and fuelling mechanism of radio-AGN.

Given the flux limit of the combined radio catalog (0.1 mJy), we probe a radio luminosity range of 10^36-10^44 erg/s. Using the second and fifth closest neighbor density parameters, we test whether active galaxies inhabit denser environments and study these overdensities in terms of both distance to the AGN and its luminosity. We find evidence for a sub-population of radio-selected AGN that resides in significantly overdense environments at small scales, although we do not find significant overdensities for the bulk of our sample. We do not recover any dependence between the AGN radio-luminosity and overdensities. We show that radio-AGN inhabiting the most underdense environments in the field have vigorous ongoing star formation. We interpret these results in terms of the triggering and fuelling mechanism of radio-AGN.

  • Narrowband and wideband characterizations of radio propagation channels in tunnel environments are investigated by using ray tracing techniques. For a rectangular straight tunnel and a rectangular curved tunnel, received power is simulated when the receiver moves away from the transmitter. The fast fading statistics of the narrowband propagation are analyzed in terms of cumulative distribution function, level crossing rate and average fade duration. The tunnel wideband radio propagation channel is characterized in terms of mean excess delay and rms delay spread.

  • Mobile IPTV lets mobile users transmit and receive multimedia traffic, such as TV signals, audio, text and graphics, through IP-based networks with the support of quality of service(QoS) and quality of experience(QoE), mobility and interactivity [1]. To provide service feasibility, QoS and seamless mobility to mobile users, we consider mobility prediction, link stability, service requirements to develop resource reservation scheme in mobile IPTV environments. Thus, we study for mobility prediction and QoS-guaranteed mobile IPTV service prior to develop the resource reservation scheme.

  • Cognitive Radio is an advanced enabling techlology for efficient utilization of under-utilized spectrum since it is able to sense the temporally available spectrum and adapt its parameters to fully utilize the frequency band. Recent investigation suggests that spectrum sensing is compromised when a cognitive radio user suffers from the environment with fading or shadowing. In order to combat the effect, collaborative sensing is considered to be a promising way, which combines the sensing result of each user to achieve good performance. However, the conventional collaborative sensing is not efficient when users suffer different fading environments. In this paper, we propose a weighted-collaborative scheme that considers using the weights of each collaborative CR user, which can achieve better sensing performance under both fast and slow fading environments. The analysis of the simulation resultsproves that the weighted-collaborative scheme improves sensing performance obviously and outperforms the conventional method.

  • With the progress of electronics and radio communication technology, human enjoys greater freedom in communication. However, EMW (Electro-Magnetic wave) environments have became complicate and more difficult to control. Thus, international organizations, such as the American National Standard Institution (ANSI), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Comite Internationale Special des Perturbations Radio electrique (CISPR), etc, have provided standard for controlling the EM wave environments and for the countermeasure of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In this paper, the status of EMW absorber and the goal of smart EMW absorber ifor the future were described. Furthermore, design method of the smart EM wave Absorber with heat radiating function was suggested. The designed smart EM wave Absorber has the absoption ability of more than 5 dB from 2 GHz to 2.45 GHz band, one optimum aperture (hole) size of which was 6 mm, 9 mm in adjacent hole space, and 6.5 mm in thickness, respectivly. Thus, it is repected that these results can be applied to various EMC devices in electronic, communication, and controlling systems.
