The MENQOL and the HRV(LF/HF ratio) were significantly correlated with each other. The MRS somatic subscale and the Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire were significantly correlated with each other. The MENQOL and the Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire were significantly correlated with each other. The Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire and the HRV(LF/HF ratio) were significantly correlated with each other. Conclusions: The Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire is a valuable tool of oriental medicine for assessment of symptoms. The Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire were significantly correlated with the MRS somatic subscale, the MENQOL and the HRV(LF/HF ratio). Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire could serve as an adequate diagnostic instrument of oriental medicine for menopausal syndrome. Further large-scale study is needed for evaluation of the correlation of these measurements related with Menopausal syndrome and the clinical use of Yin-Deficiency Questionnaire.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a Korean questionnaire to measure resilience in children with chronic illness. Methods: Item construction was drawn from an extensive review of the literature, existing questionnaires and interviews with parents. Content validity was tested by experts. To further refine the questionnaire and test its reliability and validity, data were collected from the 202 children with asthma, diabetes mellitus or nephrotic syndrome. Corrected items were used to total correlation coefficient and test-retest reliability. Questionnaire testing was conducted using factor analysis, Cronbach's $\alpha$, and correlation coefficients. Validity of the questionnaire was tested using internal consistency, construct validity, and criterion-related validity. Results: Components of the questionnaire were in three domains; interpersonal characteristics, characteristics of coping, and intrapersonal characteristics. Factor analysis is showed five factors; positive self-understanding, self-reliance, resourcefulness, perception of positive family relationships, and intimacy. The questionnaire showed a high internal consistency. A significant positive correlation with the Numerical Rating Score and negative correlation with the Child Depression Inventory support the validity of the questionnaire. Conclusion: This instrument demonstrated high reliability and validity. Therefore, this instrument can contribute to the evaluation of resilience of chronically ill children and to any subsequent intervention as well as to develop a theory for resilience.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability of questionnaire according to item arrangement on patient satisfaction questionnaire. Methods : We developed the two types of questionnaire with different item arrangement. In the first type (A), questions were arranged according to medical service dimensions. Questions in the second type (B) were arranged according to medical process. Both questionnaires were composed of six dimensions: physical environments, process, competence, courtesy, information giving, understanding patients. Measurements were performed on a 5-score Likert scale. In an outpatients and inpatient survey, total 777 patients answered the type A (outpatients: 257, inpatients: 128) or Type B (outpatients: 257, inpatients: 135). In order to compare the internal consistency of two types. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ were calculated. Multiple regression analysis was also performed to know which type of questionnaire explain more of the overall satisfaction. Results : In outpatient survey, type A questionnaire showed higher internal consistency than B except physical environments dimension. Also in inpatient survey, type A had higer internal consistency than B in four dimensions(process, competence, courtesy, understanding patients). In the results of multiple regression analysis, type A questionnaire ($R^2$=0.53) explained more of the variation in overall satisfaction then B questionnaire ($R^2$=0.43) in outpatient survey. In inpatient survey, type B questionnaire ($R^2$=0.40) explained, more of the variation in overall satisfaction than type A questionnaire ($R^2$=0.33).But the difference of R was not significant in inpatient survey. Conclusion : The results of this study support that type A questionnaire has higer reliability in assessment of consumer satisfaction than type B.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the personality traits in constitutional types. The Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification Ⅱ and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire were completed by 155 university students. Statistical analyses of the Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification Ⅱ and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire scale scores and results are as follows : First, Personality differences in constitutional types are revealed significantly with respect to Eysenck Personality Questionnaire scales such as neuroticism, addiction, and criminality. Second, there is a significant difference between Eum(음) type and Yang(양) type along psychoticism and neuroticism. Third, sex difference is significant along the dimension of extraverion-intraversion.
Purpose : To find out correlation between the Vocal indicators and the 'Buzhongyiqi-Tang questionnaire'. Method : The 'Buzhongyiqi-Tang questionnaire' is given to 83 healthy adults and collected their voice /a/ /e/ /i/ /o/ /u/. Analyze mean values of each factors of the Vocal indicators and the 'Buzhongyiqi-Tang questionnaire'. Conclusions : R square values of /i/ sound in factor 1 and factor 3 of 'Buzhongyiqi-Tang questionnaire' are noticeably high. The value of vocal diagnosis index F0, Fundamental Frequency, in Factor 1 and factor 3 of 'Buzhongyiqi-Tang questionnaire' are considerable. The research has shown conclusively that there is a link between The value of vocal diagnosis index F0 and Factor 3, lung deficiency factor, of 'Buzhongyiqi-Tang questionnaire'.
This study was designed to estimate the improvement of Validity for food frequency questionnaire(FFQ) by offering multiple choice portion size in developing a questionnaire. Validity of the two methods(food frequency questionnaire I=FFQ I & Food frequency questionnaire II=FFQ II) was tested in comparison with reference method of the 7-day weighed record(7DWR). Dietary consumption data of the three methods(FFQ I, FFQ II & 7DWR) were collected from 101 female university students for the analysis. Validity was measured in two categories : One was the nutrient intake value from the three methods, the other was the identification of between individual variation within the group. Spearman's rank order correlation test and distribution graphs were used for the analysis. The result showed that individual intake value of the FFQII was closer to that of the 7DWR than that of the FFQ I.Spearman's rank order correlation between the FFQII and the 7DWR did not show any improved correlation. The distribution graphs of nutrient intake derived from both the FFQ I and the FFQII were different from that of the 7DWR. Therefore, it could be suggested that single one portion size food frequency questionnaire is an equally efficient method as a multiple choice food frequency questionnaire to be adopted in epidemiologic studies.
Objectives The aim of this study is to contribute to developing questionnaire for pattern identification of chronic low back pain using delphi method. Methods The questionnaire which includes symptoms and signs of chronic low back pain is studied by delphi method. Seven experts of Korean medicine, especially of rehabilitation medicine participated in delphi examination. Delphi examination was carried out through evaluating and correcting the questionnaire by e-mail. Results By the Delphi method and score evaluation, 20 items of the initial copy of questionnaire are chosen for pattern identification of chronic low back pain. Conclusions By the delphic method among experts, a reference questionnaire for pattern identification of chronic low back pain was suggested. Further research is necessary for modification of questionnaire by statistics and certification by clinical trial research.
Objectives: The purpose of our study is to develop and verify questionnaire using temperament and character inventory (TCI) in the future by contemplating the comparative study on TCI and psychological testing Questionnaires. Methods: We investigate the research searched by keyword: 'TCI' and 'Questionnaire' through internet search engines, Pub Med, Science Direct and Springer Link. Results: The comparative study of TCI and psychological testing Questionnaires(SPAQ, BDI, TAS-20, MAC, DSQ) which have the purpose of diagnosing personal disorder is helpful for the verification of the level of adequacy of the concerned psychological testing Questionnaire and contributes to the understanding of psychobiological characteristics of each of personal disorders. The comparative study of TCI and psychological testing Questionnaires(MMPI, NEO, CPI) which have the purpose of comprehending general personality is helpful for the verification of the level of adequacy of the concerned psychological testing Questionnaire and contributes to the understanding of meaning of questionnaire-scales. The comparative study of TCI and constitution-psychological testing Questionnaire(QSCC II) is helpful for the verification of the level of adequacy and the understanding of the concerned constitution-psychological testing Questionnaire and contributes to the understanding of psychobiological characteristics of each of constitutions. Conclusions: TCI is a useful tool to understand the psychological testing Questionnaire more deeply and verify the level of the adequacy, and from now on for the development and verification of Oriental medicinal-psychological testing Questionnaire, the study comparing it with TCI should be actively used.
Objective: This study was designed to identify and explore the pathological patterns of functional dyspepsia (FD) patients. We also evaluated the usefulness of the Pattern Identification Questionnaire by comparing it with other assessment tools for FD. Methods: We recruited 97 FD patients based on the Rome III criteria for FD diagnosis. The pathological patterns of the subjects were determined by the Pattern Identification Questionnaire. Their dyspepsia-related symptoms were assessed using the Gastrointestinal Symptom Questionnaire (GIS) and the Pyeongwi-san (Pingwei-san) Patternization Questionnaire. Depressive symptoms were evaluated with the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and quality of life with the Functional Dyspepsia-Related Quality of Life (FD-QoL) Questionnaire. Tongue coating was measured by the Digital Tongue Diagnosis System (DTDS). Results: The male to female ratio was 1:1.1, and the forties and fifties age groups were largest in number. The spleen deficiency and phlegm-dampness pattern was the most common pattern found among the FD patients. No significant differences in the GIS, BDI, FD-QoL, and DTDS scores were found among the five pattern types. All pattern types showed significant correlation with GIS, Pyeongwi-san Patternization Questionnaire, and FD-QoL scores. Conclusions: Pattern Identification Questionnaire can not only identify the pathological pattern types of FD patients but also evaluate the severity of their symptoms. Compared to conventional assessment tools for FD, it could enable a more dynamic evaluation of FD patients reflecting the severity of dyspeptic symptoms and the quality of life. Further studies on the Pattern Identification of FD patients are anticipated in order to improve the diagnosis and therapy for Korean FD patients.
Deficiency and excess pattern differentiation is unique characteristic of traditional oriental medicine on diagnosis and treatment. This differentiation is accomplished through pulse, tongue diagnosis and question examination, but most of these processes need to be objectified for efficacious treatment and traditional medicine development. In this study, we developed the deficiency and excess pattern questionnaire for objectification of question examination. The deficiency and excess pattern questionnaire was made out through The Traditional Oriental Medical Literature with Delphi Technique. Patients who visited oriental medical hospital filled out the questionnaire by themselves. Diagnosis of deficiency and excess pattern are conducted separately by oriental medical doctors with more than 5 years' clinical experience. Various physical condition factors were derived for the deficiency and excess pattern questionnaire. (Ordinary health degree, pain pattern, fatigue, weight change, sweating, uncomfortable awareness on chest and abdomen) Deficiency symptoms group acquired internal consistency, but excess symptoms group did not. (Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ > 0.6) There were significant associations between doctor's diagnosis and deficiency and excess symptoms in 'ordinary heath degree', 'voice weakening', and 'chest distress' (p-value < 0.1) There were significant differences between deficiency and excess syndrome patients groups in deficiency questionnaire score but there were no significant differences between deficiency and excess syndrome patients groups in excess questionnaire score. We acquired the internal consistency and significant result of deficiency pattern questionnaire, but we can find out some difficulties in development of the excess pattern questionnaire. These difficulties are associated with insufficiency description of traditional literature and small number of patients diagnosed as excess pattern.
