In imformation retrival, query reformulation algorithms construct querise from a set of intial input and feedback documents, and retrieval performance cna be varied by different sets of input documents. In this study, we developed a criterion for measuring the performance sensitivity of query reformulation algorithms to unput sets. In addition, we also propose a way of mesuring the changes in retrived area, (CIRA) during qucry reformulation. We cimpared CIRAs of query refromulation algorithms (i.e., query tree, DNF method, and Dillon's method) using three test sets:the CACM, CISI, and Medlars. In the experiments, the query tree showed the highest decreasing CIRA during refirmulations, which means the fastest convergence rate to an output set. For sensitivity analysis, the query tree sored the highest sensitivity to different input sets even though its differences to the tther algorithms are very small.

Recent research into wireless sensor network (WSN)-related technology that senses various data has recognized the need for spatio-temporal queries for searching necessary data from wireless sensor nodes. Answers to the queries are transmitted from sensor nodes, and for the efficient transmission of the sensed data to the application server, research on index processing methods that increase accuracy while reducing the energy consumption in the node and minimizing query delays has been conducted extensively. Previous research has emphasized the importance of accuracy and energy efficiency of the sensor node's routing process. In this study, we propose an itinerary-based R-tree (IR-tree) to solve the existing problems of spatial query processing methods such as efficient processing and expansion of the query to the spatio-temporal domain.

Since sensor data are inserted into a data set continuously, continuous queries should be evaluated for searching data. To processing the continuous queries, it is required to build a query index on each sensor node and to transmit result data appropriate for query predicates. However, if query predicates are transferred to all sensor nodes, massive messages are required. In this paper, we propose the node decision scheme using the sensor node decision tree in order to diminish messages. The entry of a leaf node in the node decision tree represents a sensor node and defines the data region of the sensor node. When a user query is issued, sensor nodes are decided by intersecting between data regions of the tree with the query predicates of the user query, and then the query predicates are transmitted to the selected sensor nodes. We also implement the proposed sensor node decision tree and evaluate the experiments for the tree.
A tag collision arbitration algorithm for RFID passive tags is one of the important issues for fast tag identification, since reader and tag have a shared wireless channel in RFID system. This paper suggests Hyper-Hybrid Query Tree algorithm to prevent the tag-collisions. The suggested algorithms determine the specified point in time for tag to transfer ID to reader by using value 1 of the upper 3 bit based on Query Tree. Also, because the transferred upper 3 bits of tag is different depending on the time of transfer, it is possible to predict in the suggested Algorithm. In the performance evaluation through simulation, it shows the suggested algorithm has higher performance in the number of queries compared to other Tree-based protocols.

Categorical range aggregation, which is conceptually equivalent to running a range aggregation query separately on multiple datasets, returns the query result on each dataset. The challenge is when the number of dataset is as large as hundreds or thousands, it takes a lot of computation time and I/O. In previous work, only a single dimension of the range restriction has been solved, and in practice, more applications are being used to calculate multiple range restriction statistics. We proposed MCRI-Tree, an index structure designed to solve multi-dimensional categorical range aggregation queries, which can utilize main memory to maximize the efficiency of CRA queries. Specifically, the MCRI-Tree answers any query in $O(nk^{n-1})$ I/Os (where n is the number of dimensions, and k denotes the maximum number of pages covered in one dimension among all the n dimensions during a query). The practical efficiency of our technique is demonstrated with extensive experiments.
Every year, RDFS data tends further toward scalability; hence, the manner of SPARQL processing needs to be changed for fast query. The query processing method of SPARQL has been studied using a scalable distributed processing framework. Current studies indicate that the query engine based on the scalable distributed processing framework i.e., Hadoop(MapReduce) is not suitable for real-time processing because of the repetitive tasks; in addition, it is difficult to construct a query engine based on an In-memory Distributed Query engine, because distributed structure on the low-level is required to be considered. In this paper, we proposed a method to construct a query engine for improving the speed of the query process with the mass triple data. The query engine processes the query of SPARQL using the SparkSQL, which is an In-memory based, distributed query processing framework. SparkSQL is a high-level distributed query engine that facilitates existing SQL statement. In order to process the SPARQL query, after generating the Algebra Tree using Jena, the Algebra Tree is required to be translated to Spark Algebra Tree for application in the Spark system, and construction of the system that generated the SparkSQL query. Furthermore, we proposed the design of triple property table based on DataFrame for more efficient query processing in the Spark system. Finally, we verified the validity through comparative evaluation with the query engine, which is the existing distributed processing framework.
Typical tree-based spatial index structures are divided into a data-partitioning index structure such as R-Tree and a space-partitioning index structure such as KD-Tree. In recent years, researches on hybrid index structures combining advantages of these index structures have been performed extensively. However, because the split boundary extension of the node to which a new spatial object is inserted may extend split boundaries of other neighbor nodes in existing researches, overlaps between nodes are increased and the query processing cost is raised. In this paper, we propose a hybrid index structure, called SQR-Tree that can support efficient processing of spatial queries to solve these problems. SQR-Tree is a combination of SQ-Tree(Spatial Quad- Tree) which is an extended Quad-Tree to process non-size spatial objects and R-Tree which actually stores spatial objects associated with each leaf node of SQ-Tree. Because each SQR-Tree node has an MBR containing sub-nodes, the split boundary of a node will be extended independently and overlaps between nodes can be reduced. In addition, a spatial object is inserted into R-Tree in each split data space and SQ-Tree is used to identify each split data space. Since only R-Trees of SQR-Tree in the query area are accessed to process a spatial query, query processing cost can be reduced. Finally, we proved superiority of SQR-Tree through experiments.

RFID Anti-Collision technique is needed to avoid collision problem caused by Radio interference between tags in the same RFID Reader area. It affects the performance and reliability of the RFID System. This paper propose the QT-CBP(Query Tree with Collision-Bit Positioning) Algorithm based on the QT(Query Tree) algorithm. QT-CBP Algorithm use precise collision bit position to improve the performance. We demonstrated the proposed algorithm by simulation. Our algorithm outperformed when each tag bit streams are the more duplicate and the number of tags is increased, compared with QT.
A range mosaic query returns distribution of data within the query region as a pattern of mosaic, whereas a range aggregate query returns a single aggregate value of data within the query region. The range mosaic query divides a query region by a multi-dimensional grid, and calculates aggregate values of grid cells. In this paper, we propose a new type of query, range mosaic query and a new operator, mosaic-by, with which the range mosaic queries can be represented. In addition, we suggest efficient algorithms for processing range mosaic queries using an aggregate R-tree. The algorithm that we present computes aggregate results of every mosaic grid cell by one time traversal of the aggregate R-tree, and efficiently executes the queries with only a small number of node accesses by using the aggregate values of the aggregate R-tree. Our experimental study shows that the range mosaic query algorithm is reliable in terms of performance for several synthetic datasets and a real-world dataset.
The primary purpose of this study was to investigate a robust search methodology that could be used in full-text information retrieval systems. A robust search methodology is one that can be easily used by a variety of users (particularly naive users) and it will give them comparable search performance regardless of their different expertise or interests In order to develop a possibly robust search methodology, a fully functional prototype of a fuzzy knowledge based information retrieval system was developed. Also, an experiment that used this prototype information retreival system was designed to investigate the performance of that search methodology over a small exploratory sample of user queries To probe the relatonships between the possibly robust search performance and the query organization using fuzzy inference logic, the search performance of a shallow query structure was analyzes. Consequently the following several noteworthy findings were obtained: 1) the hierachical(tree type) query structure might be a better query organization than the linear type query structure 2) comparing with the complex tree query structure, the simple tree query structure that has at most three levels of query might provide better search performance 3) the fuzzy search methodology that employs a proper levels of cut-off value might provide more efficient search performance than the boolean search methodology. Even though findings could not be statistically verified because the experiments were done using a single replication, it is worth noting however, that the research findings provided valuable information for developing a possibly robust search methodology in full-text information retrieval.
