Evaluating Online Courses in light of Quality Matters (QM) Standards at Umm Al-Qura University

  • This study aimed to ascertain whether electronic courses at the deanship of electronic learning and distance education at Umm Al-Qura University meet the quality standards developed by the Quality Matters (QM) organization. This endeavor adopted a mixed method of an explanatory sequential research design for an in-depth understanding of the topic under scrutiny. The sample of the study consisted of ten courses designed at the deanship and reviewed using an evaluation form. The results showed that the courses in focus did not meet the criteria of QM. Based on this finding, a semi-structured interview was designed to collect relevant data from the syllabus designers at the deanship. The interviews yielded information on the difficulties the course designers faced when designing QM-criteria-based courses. The results obtained from the interviews showed that the designers experienced administrative, technical, and faculty-member-related challenges that, when producing online courses, intercepted their way to achieving the QM standards. The study closed with some recommendations, the most important of which is a call for re-developing online courses in alignment with the well-recognized QM standards.

AHP를 이용한 제품 품질 선택 모형에 관한 연구 (A Study for Selection Model of Product Quality using Analytic Hierarchy Process)

  • Customers have the various needs and personalities and try to get them. The behaviour of buying products, one of the highlight things, is the most general phenomenon of filling up their desires, and even these types are eventually personalized. Also there are various criteria for selecting it and also those are to be determined by the customers' own personalities. Mostly customers show the more attractive behaviours for those products which are more attractive to them, and for carefully buying them they use various paths. The criteria to buy the products are the mostly generalized things such as price, design, size, weight, trend, and so on, and it can be affected by the specifics of the products. But it is not definitely unimportant to consider the personality. Customers have the unusual personality for the product which is more attractive to them, and then for the unattractive, they only show the unclear criteria or specifics. The existing studies are focused on the product itself, and then they just show the results related to the specifics of the products, but it could be considered a case that the customers could think some products classified into the highly involvement products would be the lower involvement ones. Upon this, for same products if the customers show some differences of information(relating to the degree of involvement), I am going to figure it out by using AHP that what the criteria to buy is. In this study, with the computer products which are considered as the highly involvement products, I will select two groups showing the differences of awareness of the products, and then figure out the selecting criteria.

  • 교육용 소프트웨어가 갖는 여러 가지의 우수한 기능과 장점에도 불구하고 실제적으로 학습 현장인 학교와 가정에서 교육용 소프트웨어의 활용도가 저조한 현상은 교육용 소프트웨어가 교육 전문가나 컴퓨터 소프트웨어 개발 전문가의 입장에서 연구되고 개발되어 학습자의 요구사항이 교육용 소프트웨어에 제대로 반영되지 못한 결과로 볼 수 있다. 이에 따라 이 연구에서는 교육용 소프트웨어의 평가 도구들이 소비자의 요구를 얼마나 수용하고 있는지 알아보는 사전 연구의 일환으로서, 국내외에서 발표된 기존의 교육용 소프트웨어의 평가 도구들이 중요하게 다루고 있는 평가 준거는 무엇인지 교육용 소프트웨어의 평가 도구에서 채택된 빈도수를 통하여 조사 분석하였다. 그리고 이 분석 결과와 비교하여 교육용 소프트웨어의 실수요자인 학습자들은 교육용 소프트웨어에 대한 기존의 품질 평가 도구가 가지고 있는 품질 평가 준거를 어느 정도의 차이점을 가지고 중요하게 생각하는지에 대하여 조사하고 분석하였다.

저염젓갈류의 품질평가 방법에 관한 연구 (Quality Evaluation of Low-Salt Fermented Seafoods)

  • 소비자의 수용도에 중점을 둔 저염젓갈의 품질 기준을 설정하기 위하여 출하 직전의 시판 젓갈을 반제품과 완제품의 형태로 $30^{\circ}C:$에 저장하여 품질 저하를 시키면서 관능검사와 이에 따른 이화학적 검사를 병행하였다. 명란젓갈의 경우 Brix가 반제품 $47.6\%$ 이상, 완제품 $41.2\%$ 이상이면 합격품으로 판정되었으며 제조회사 별로 절대값의 차이는 있었지만 백색도도 소비자의 수용도가 떨어질 수록 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 반면, 오징어 젓갈은 원료의 특성상 백색도는 기준으로 설정하기 어려웠으나 Brix는 제조회사 별로 기준을 설정하면 소비자 수용도와 상관관계를 설정할 수 있을 것으로 추정되며 pH도 같은 경향을 나타내었다. 결론적으로 저염젓갈의 품질 평가는 관능적 평가와 이론학적 검사를 병행하는 것이 타당하며 이화학적 검사 항목으로 Brix, 백색도, pH 및 hypoxanthine 등을 들 수 있는데 이 중에서 Brix가 가장 좋은 기준이 되며 hypoxanthine은 제품에 따라 차이가 많아 좋은 기준이 될 수 없었으나 오징어젓갈의 경우는 제조 방법이 같을 때 유의할 만한 평가 항목이 될 것으로 판단되었다.

상수원 보호를 위한 유역기반 토지관리 우선순위 모델 적용 (Application of a Watershed-Based Land Prioritization Model for the Protection of Drinking Water Reservoir)

  • Due to the growing impact of non-point source pollution and limitation of water treatment technology, a new policy of water quality management, called a source protection, is now becoming more important in drinking water supply. The source protection means that the public agency purchases the pollution sensitive area, such as riparian zone, and prohibit locations of point and non-point sources. Many studies have reported that this new policy is more economical in drinking water supply than the conventional one. However, it is very difficult to determine location and size of the pollution sensitive zone in the watershed. In this paper, we presented the scientific criteria for the priority of the pollution sensitive zone, along with a case study of the upstream watershed of the Paldang Reservoir, Han River. This study includes applications of the analytical hierarchy process(AHP) and a watershed-based land prioritization(WLP) model. After major criteria affecting water quality were selected, the AHP and geographic analysis were performed. The WLP model allowed us to include both quantity and quality criteria, using AHP as the multi-criteria method in making decision and reflecting local characteristics and various needs. By adding a travel-time function, which represents the prototype effectively, the results secured adaptability and scientific objectivity as well. As such, the WLP model appeared to provide reasonable criteria in determining the prioritization of land acquisition. If the tested data are used with a validated travel-time and AHP method is applied after further discussion among experts in such field, highly reliable results can be obtained.

  • Performance measurement is increasingly becoming a vital issue for promoting quality management within an organization. This research proposes a new performance measurement approach, called the Hierarchically Associated Performance Measurement, for the organizations which emphasize long term quality thrust through a balanced interface between the quality efforts of various units. The proposed approach is unique in that it considers relationships between internal quality activities and national quality award criteria and that it identifies and utilizes the quality responsibilities of functional units in order to encompass organizational roles in the evaluation process. The approach is illustrated via a numerical evaluation of a fictitious organization.

ASTP 등급체계와 평가기준에 대한 연구 (The Study on the Grade System and the Grading Criteria of Ammunition Stockpile Test Procedures)

  • The ASTP is the standard of the assessment ASRP that is monitoring the performance, reliability and safety characteristics of the ammunition items. The ASTP used in domestic now has applied to US Army's grade system and grading criteria so that it cause some problems. To resolve these problems of ASTP, we surveyed both the quality level of production and the field management of ammunition, which compared with grade system and classification criteria. As a result of study, we changed grade system from four steps to three steps and applied the Korean Military Specifications and the Malfunction Criteria to the classification criteria of grades. We are looking forward to improving the reliability and effectiveness of ASRP assessment by simplifying grade system and generalizing grading criteria of ASTP.

  • The purpose of this study is to select the sustainability evaluation criteria of detached house and assess it's importance. The theoretical study is performed to select the evaluation criteria. Expert's survey and AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique are conducted to assess the importance of each factors. In a result, the four sustainability evaluation criteria was energy, economy, environment, and quality of life. Also, the energy was the most important sustainability evaluation criteria factor, while the weight of four factors showed similar weights.

고객 만족도 향상을 위한 제품의 핵심 설계요소 도출 프로세스에 관한 연구 (A study on inducing process of critical design factors for enhancing customer satisfaction)

  • Purpose: This study focused on procedure and methodology for finding the critical design factors in the early stage of product development process. Methods: Firstly, three key criteria, function, affection and usability were defined as the determining factors on customer satisfaction. Secondly, evaluation matrix in terms of each key criteria was proposed for extraction of the critical design factors. Lastly, method of integrating the importance among three key criteria was suggested using structured equation model. Results: As a results of integrating the importance, design factors such as touch sensitiveness and touch method were rated as low in terms of affection. However, these factors were obtained for high ratings with respect to functionality and usability. Thus, touch-related design factors were more facilitated for enhancing customer satisfaction. Conclusion: It is expected that the process suggested in this research could be a considerably useful to maximize customer satisfaction in the early stage of product development process.

소비자 의복관여와 소재평가기준에 관한 연구 (The Consumer's Clothing Involvement & Textile Evaluation Criteria)

  • The study mainly focused on textile evaluation criteria and clarified the relationship between the levels of clothing involvement and demographic variables. Subjects were 459 women living in JeonJu. SPSS package was used to analyzed the data. The main findings of this research were as follows: 1. Textile evaluation criteria such as the high quality of textile, the component of fiber, the easeness of care, and the durability of fabrics were used for the jackets and the coats. As regards the blouses and the shirts, the easeness of care, the high quality of fabric, the component of fiber, and the comfort of wearing, the easeness of care and the shape for better looks influenced the decision making process of consumers. 2. The subjectives were categorized into three groups depending upon the clothing involvement level. They have shown significant differences from demographic factors such as age, marrige, education, and occupation.
