Analysis of the Magnetic Properties of RFe11Ti and RFe11TiH (R=Tb,Ho)

  • The values of crystalline-electric-field parameters $A_{nm}$ for $RFe_{11}$Ti $H_{x}$ (R=Tb,Ho) (x=0,l) are obtained by fitting calculations to the magnetization curves along the crystal axes at 4.2 K and higher temperatures. The insertion of H element in RFe$_{11}$Ti significantly affects CEF parameters $A_{nm}$ . By using exchange field 2${\mu}$$_{B}$ $H_{ex}$ derived by inelastic neutron scattering and fitted $A_{nm}$ , the calculations reproduce the experimental curves well.

  • Since the allowable bearing capacities of piles in weathered/fractured rock are mainly governed by settlement, the load-displacement behavior of the rock socketed pile should be well known. To predict pile head settlement at the design stage, the exact understanding of the load-transfer mechanisms is essential. Therefore, in this research, the load-transfer mechanisms of drilled shaft socketed into weathered rock was investigated. For that, 5 cast-in-place concrete piles with diameters of 1,000 mm were socketed into weathered gneiss. The static axial load tests and the load-transfer measurements were performed to examine the axial resistant behavior of the piles. A comprehensive field/laboratory testing program on weathered rock at the field test sites was also performed to describe the in situ rock mass conditions quantitatively. And then, the effect of rock mass condition on the load transfer mechanism was investigated. The side shear resistance of the pile in moderately weathered rock reached to yielding point at a few millimeter displacements, and after that, the rate of resistance increment dramatically decreased. However, that in the highly /completely weathered rock did not show the obvious yielding point, and gradually increased showing the hyperbolic pattern until with the relatively high displacement (>10 mm). The end bearing-displacement curves showed linear increase at least until with the base displacement of approximately 10 mm, regardless rock mass conditions.

Gas dynamics and star formation in NGC 6822

  • We examine gas kinematics and star formation activities of NGC 6822, a gas-rich dwarf irregular galaxy in the Local Group at a distance of ~490 kpc. We perform profile decomposition of all the line-of-sight (LOS) HI velocity profiles of the high-resolution (42.4" × 12" spatial; 1.6 km/s spectral) HI data cube of the galaxy, taken with the Australian Telescope Compact Array (ATCA). To this end, we use a novel tool based on Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques, the so-called BAYGAUD, which allows us to decompose a velocity profile into an optimal number of Gaussian components in a quantitative manner. We group all the decomposed components into bulk-narrow, bulk-broad, and non-bulk gas components classified with respect to their velocity dispersions and the amounts of velocity offset from the global kinematics, respectively. Using the surface densities and velocity dispersions of the kinematically decomposed HI gas maps together with the rotation curve of NGC 6822, we derive Toomre-Q parameters for individual regions of the galaxy which quantify the level of local gravitational instability of the gaseous disk. We also measure the local star formation rate (SFR) of the corresponding regions in the galaxy by combining GALEX Far-ultraviolet (FUV) and WISE 22㎛ images. We then relate the gas and SFR surface densities in order to investigate the local Kennicutt-Schmidt (K-S) law of gravitationally unstable regions which are selected from the Toomre Q analysis. Of the three groups, the bulk-narrow, bulk-broad and non-bulk gas components, we find that the lower Toomre-Q values the bulk-narrow gas components have, the more consistent with the linear extension of the K-S law derived from molecular hydrogen (H2) observations.

  • 1. 트랙터에 의(依)한 효율적(效率的) 경기방법(耕起方法)을 실험(實驗) 고찰(考察)하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 가. 포장내측경기(圃場內側耕起)에 있어서 선회소요시간(旋回所要時間)을 최소(最少)하는 효율적(效率的) 선회법(旋回法)은 선회간격(旋回間隔)이 zr(r=최소선회반경(最少旋回半徑))보다 작을때는 Q 자형(字型), 클때는 U 자형(字型)이다. 나. 포장내측경기(圃場內側耕起)의 단위선회구(單位旋回區) 건(巾) w는 2.5r 시(時) 가장 효율적(效率的)이다. 다. 포장주변부(圃場周邊部) 경기(耕起)에 있어서는 W>-0.0345L + 35.84 시(時)는 혼합경법(混合耕法)이 능률적(能率的)이고 W<-0.0345 + 35.84 시(時)는 반접속경법(半接續耕法)이 능률적(能率的)이다. 라. 포장주변부(圃場周邊部)의 건(巾)l는 내측경기시(內側 耕起時)와 주변경기시(周邊耕起時)에 있어서 모두 적을수록 효과적임으로 최소치(最少値)인 2r가 가장 적합(適合)하다. 2. 트랙터에 의(依)한 단위포장(單位圃場)과 경기능률(耕起能率)과의 관계(關係)를 고찰(考察)하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 가. 종횡비(縱橫比)$\frac{L}{W}$ 및 면적(面積) A가 크면 일반적(一般的)으로 경기능률(耕起能率)은 증가(增加)한다. 나. 경기능률(耕起能率)의 증가율(增加率)은 종횡비(縱橫比) 및 면적(面積)이 크면 클수록 증가율(增加率)이 점차적으로 감소(減少)한다. 다. $\frac{L}{W}-T$ 곡선(曲線)에서 $\frac{L}{W}$에 대(對)한 T의 변화(變化)가 큰 범위(範圍)는 대략(大略) 20a에서 6, 30a에서 5, 50a에서 4, 80a에서 3, 100a에서 2.5 이내(以內)이다. 라. T-A 곡선(曲線)의 변화율(變化率)은 $\frac{L}{W}$의 영향(影響)을 받으나 대략(大略) $T=A^{-\frac{2}{3}}$ 곡선(曲線)의 변화율(變化率)과 같다. 마. 종횡비(縱橫比)가 3이상(以上)일때는 면적(面積)의 크기에 상관(相關)없이 경기능률(耕起能率)에 미치는 10a 면적증가(面積增加)의 효과는 약(約) 5 정도(程度)의 종횡비(縱橫比) 증가효과와 같다. 바. 종횡비(縱橫比)가 $2{\sim}3$일때는 면적(面積)의 크기에 상관(相關)없이 경기능률(耕起能率)에 미치는 10a 면적증가(面積增加)의 효과는 약(約) $4{\sim}2$ 정도(程度)의 종횡비(縱橫比) 증가효과와 같으면 이는 종횡비(縱橫比)가 적을수록, 면적(面積)이 클수록 차차(次次) 감소(減少)한다.

상부 해양 요소 접합부의 피로 평가 (Fatigue Behavior of Offshore Topside Structure)

  • Large-scale model tests of welded topside joints were carried out to observe the fatigue behavior of API 2W Gr.50 steel produced by POSCO. The fatigue crack behaviors for various loading conditions were measured and investigated around the critical joint sections. The experimental results have been verified with numerical approaches and also compared with the AWS D1.1 and DnV RP-C203 design curves. The large-scale experiment models were fabricated, based on the actual operating east area fixed platform. The dimensions of the models were slightly modified to accommodate the test facilities and capacities. The fatigue test was carried out having ${\Delta}Q$ of T1=705.6kN, T2=749.7kN and T3=793.8kN. The three specimens were statically loaded 20 times, with various loadings of about 50kN intervalsbetween the maximum and minimum loads required in the fatigue tests. This loading removed the residual stress in the specimen before the fatigue tests. The topside joint crack was initiated from the brace heel, where the maximum tensile stress occurred. The API 2W Gr.50 steel satisfied the AWS D1.1 detail category C and DnV RP-C203 detail category F ${\Delta}S-N$ curve.

한국형 틸팅차량 설계의 비틀린 궤도상의 탈선안전도 검토 (The review of safety against derailment on twisted track for Korean tilting train design)

  • The 180 km/h Korean Tilting Train(TTX) which is now developing as a part of the Korean National R&D project, was elaborately designed. As the tilting trains run curve track with the $30\%$ higher speed than normal trains, the higher centrifugal and dynamic force are expected. Furthermore the complex tilting system increase the probability of failure. Therefore it is very important for tilting train to ensure safety against derailment under the various kind of failed condition in the middle of running as well as normal operating condition. The TTX train have the relatively high roll stiffness to improve the lateral ride comfort and to limit the roll displacement on the curve. But the higher roll stiffness increase the risk of derailment on the twisted track. This paper describes the study to review the safety against derailment caused by the wheel unloading on the severely twisted track. The worst combination of maximum cant change with maximum twist defect was established by numerical simulation. And also it was assumed that the air bag deflated and still the train run its speed limit. Those kind of assumption might be the worst case from the view point of wheel unloading derailment on the twisted track. The dynamic simulation was done by means of VAMPIRE S/W and non-linear transient analysis. We found that derailment quotients Q/P was only slightly influenced by track twist but the wheel unloading was greatly influenced. And we ascertained that the higher roll stiffness the higher wheel unloading. In case of air bag deflated situation, the wheel unloading reached up to $100\%$ which means the wheel lift or jumped. Therefore it was concluded that the design need to be improved to ensure the safety against derailment on the maximum twisted track in case of air bag deflated and tilting train's speed limit.

Effects of the isolation parameters on the seismic response of steel frames

  • In this paper, an analytical study was carried out to propose an optimum base-isolated system for the design of steel structures equipped with lead rubber bearings (LRB). For this, 5 and 10-storey steel moment resisting frames (MRFs) were designed as Special Moment Frame (SMF). These two-dimensional and three-bay frames equipped with a set of isolation systems within a predefined range that minimizes the response of the base-isolated frames subjected to a series of earthquakes. In the design of LRB, two main parameters, namely, isolation period (T) and the ratio of strength to weight (Q/W) supported by isolators were considered as 2.25, 2.5, 2.75 and 3 s, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15, respectively. The Force-deformation behavior of the isolators was modelled by the bi-linear behavior which could reflect the nonlinear characteristics of the lead-plug bearings. The base-isolated frames were modelled using a finite element program and those performances were evaluated in the light of the nonlinear time history analyses by six natural accelerograms compatible with seismic hazard levels of 2% probability of exceedance in 50 years. The performance of the isolated frames was assessed in terms of roof displacement, relative displacement, interstorey drift, absolute acceleration, base shear and hysteretic curve.

초박형 노트북 냉각 터보팬의 유동 및 소음 분석 (Anallysis of the flow and noise characteristics of small turbo fan in a ultra slim note PC)

  • In recent years, a notebook like an ultrabook gets thinner. Its thickness causes problems in cooling fan performance, system installation condition, and so on. In this study, we installed a small turbofan in notebook system with very narrow gap in order to generate similar condition to a real product. Experiments were performed to measure the fan's performance and the flow and noise characteristics, its results were compared with computational ones. Prediction of P-Q curve using CFD showed under about 5% error in high flow rate and its trend was agreed with experimental one over the flow field. Experimental data to measure the noise at a distance of 100 mm from a rotation axis direction of an impeller corresponded well with computational ones of broadband and BPF noise. Especially, tip part of impeller blade and part of exit and bottom near in an analysis by a commercial program(FlowNoise).

W UMa형 식쌍성 VW Cep의 측광관측과 분석 (PHOTOMETRIC OBSERVATIONS AND ANALYSIS OF THE W UMa TYPE ECLOPSING BINARY VW Cep)

  • 접촉쌍성 VW Cep의 BV 측광관측을 1999년 4-5월 중 7일간 소백산천문대에서 수행하여 총 1,018개의 관측점을 얻었다. 이 관측 자료를 사용하여 광도곡선을 만들었고 이로부터 극심시각 HJD2454327.2282을 결정하였다. 우리의 광도곡선을 Wilson-Devinney 프로그램을 사용하여 분석하였다. 이때 모드 3을 적용하였고, $i,T_2,\Omega_1,q,L_1$을 수정인자로, 나머지 요소는 모두 고정인자로 사용하였다. WD 프로그램 초기 입력값으로 $T_1,a,V_r$은 Kaszas et al. (1998)의 값을, A는 Hendry et al. (1992)의 값을, X1는 van Hamme (1993)의 값을 사용하였다. 우리의 광도곡선해와 Kaszas et al. (1998)의 분광학적 해를 결합하여 VW Cep의 절대량$M_1=0.95M_\odot,M_2=0.33M_\odot,R_1=1.02R_\odot,R_2=0.66R_\odot$을 산출했다.

반사층을 이용한 FBAR(SMR)의 제조 (Fabrication of FBAR (SMR) using Reflector)

  • 본 실험에서는 반사층(reflector)을 이용한 FBAR (Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator) 즉, SMR (Solidly Mounted Resonator) 제조에 필요한 재료들의 최적 증착 조건을 설정하여, 이를 바탕으로 제조한 SMR의 특성을 보여주었다. SMR은 상하부 전극층, 압전 박막층, 반사층, 기판으로 구성된다. 상하부 전극으로 알루미늄(Al) 금속 박막을 사용하였고 압전 박막층으로 산화아연(ZnO) 박막을 사용하였다. 실리콘(Si) 기판과 하부 전극 사이에 위치하는 반사층은 5층의 이산화규소 ($Si_2$)와 텅스텐(W) 박막으로 구성되었다. 상하부 전극은 dc 스퍼터링 방법으로 증착아였으며 반사층과 압전 박막층은 rf 스퍼터링 방법으로 증착하였다. 최적 증착 조건에서 증착된 산화아연 (ZnO) 박막은 rocking curve에서 표준편차가 $2.17^{\circ}$의 우수한 c축 우선배향성, 비저항은 $10^4\;{\Omega}cm$이상, 막 표면 거칠기(rms roughness)는 10.6${\AA}$의 특성을 나타내었다. 최적 증착 조건에서 증착된 텅스텐(W)과 이산화규소($Si_2$) 박막의 특성은 박막 거칠기 (rms roughness)가 각각 16 ${\AA}$, 33 ${\AA}$을 나타내었다. 또한 증착된 알루미늄 금속 박막의 비저항은 $5.1{\times}10^{-6}\;{\Omega}cm$이었다. 반도체 기본 공정을 이용하여 면적 $250{\times}250\;{\mu}m^2$의 SMR 소자를 만들고, 네트웍 분석기로 SMR 소자의 공진 특성을 분석하였다. 공진특성은 1.244 GHz에서 직렬공진, 1.251 GHz에서 병렬공진을 나타내었다. SMR 소자의 공진특성에서 공진기의 Q값은 1200이었다.
