  • Previous studies on willingness to pay for digital content have mainly focused on audience factors and individual level. To complement the limitation of previous research, this study conducts a multilevel analysis to find the factors influence digital content purchases considering two axes: audience/media factors and individual/household levels. Using a sample of 10,172 individuals within 4,313 households, the analysis results show individual media factors including theater-going, experience with cloud services, and multi-screen service usage have the greatest effects on digital content purchases. At the household level, the media ownership factors that the number of laptops, wireless routers, and tablets have a greater influence than audience factors such as household size or household income. Our findings help scholars to enhance the understanding of individuals' media use considering household environmental factors and shed light on the importance of multi-screen service usage, and content providers to improve their digital content sales using multi-screen environment.

  • Until now, research on consumers' purchasing behavior has primarily focused on psychological aspects or depended on consumer surveys. However, there may be a gap between consumers' self-reported perceptions and their observable actions. In response, this study aimed to investigate consumer purchasing behavior utilizing a big data approach. To this end, this study investigated the purchasing patterns of fashion items, both online and in retail stores, from a data-driven perspective. We also investigated whether individual consumers switched between online websites and retail establishments for making purchases. Data on 516,474 purchases were obtained from fashion companies. We used association rule analysis and K-means clustering to identify purchase patterns that were influenced by customer loyalty. Furthermore, sequential pattern analysis was applied to investigate the usage patterns of online and offline channels by consumers. The results showed that high-loyalty consumers mainly purchased infrequently bought items in the brand line, as well as high-priced items, and that these purchase patterns were similar both online and in stores. In contrast, the low-loyalty group showed different purchasing behaviors for online versus in-store purchases. In physical environments, the low-loyalty consumers tended to purchase less popular or more expensive items from the brand line, whereas in online environments, their purchases centered around items with relatively high sales volumes. Finally, we found that both high and low loyalty groups exclusively used a single preferred channel, either online or in-store. The findings help companies better understand consumer purchase patterns and build future marketing strategies around items with high brand centrality.

Focusing on these changes, this study examines the relation of consumer price attitude and impulse buying behavior towards internet apparel purchases. Data were obtained from 377 males and females in their 20s-40s who purchased apparel from an internet mall. Convenience sampling through the internet was performed. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, and regression analysis using SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results of this study are as follows. First, four dimensions of consumer price attitudes towards internet apparel purchases were found that included price-quality/prestige, sale, value for money, and low price orientation. Second, the influence of consumer price attitude on impulse buying is significant. As the price attitude of price-quality/prestige orientation and sale orientation increases, impulse buying orientation is stronger. Third, there are partially significant differences on the sub-dimensions of consumer price attitude and the influence of price attitude on impulse buying by gender and age. This study will be of help to internet companies by providing information in regards to a price attitude-based marketing strategy and an adequate response to customer impulse buying.

  • This study explores the factors that affect the lottery purchasing intentions of university students. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by 504 students attending four universities in Kwangju South Korea. The conclusions are as follows: First, approximately 43% of respondents participated in at least one lottery purchase and the frequency of lottery purchases during the last 12 months was 4.84. Gender issues were considered since almost twice as many males reported lottery purchases. Second, males were affected by attitudes toward lotteries; females were affected by past behavior, subjective norms, and attitudes toward lotteries. It was hypothesized that the attitudinal message would change behavior for male students while the accurate information and the normative message would also be effective for female students. The fact that just about half of the respondents have previously participated in gambling vis-$\grave{a}$-vis lotteries shows consumer educators that lottery purchases by youth is a social policy issue in need of systematic and scientific attention.
