Throughout the studies the following experimental results were obtained and so are summarized here. 1) What caused tussah silkworms terrible disease broken ous all over the Korea in 1965, was examined to be “Inclusion body of virus” through microscope. 2) The examined inclusion bodies are easily stained as purple by seller's staining. 3) The proper speed of centrifugation for the purification of inclusion bodies is 1,000 r. p. m for 10 minutes. 4) It is possible, cleanly resulted, to attempt the “Rapid Agglatination Test ＆ Complement Fixation test” with autigen of inclusion bodies. 5) The Anti-polyhedra rabbit serum from antigen of the dilution of 2${\times}$10$\^$6//l$m\ell$ polyhedra made the Ropid Agglutination test possible even with dilution of 1/8 infected pupa blood(antigen).

Haemolyph carboxylesterases induced in diapausing pupae of Helicoverpa assulta Guenee were investigated. Increase in the activity of the electrophoresed isozyme bands were observed during the diapausing pupae. The isozymatic composition exhibited remarkable alterations represented as disappearance and induction of some isozyme bandsp which were identified as carboxylesterase (CE) on the basis of their specificities to inhibitors. Much higher activity of the induced CE was shown in reaction with $\beta$-naphthyl acetate ($\beta$-Na) than $\alpha$-naphthyl butyrate ($\alpha$-Nb), representing the high regioselectivity to $\beta$-naphthyl group. Optimal temperature for the enzyme activity was different to the substrates used 37$^{\circ}C$ in $\beta$-Na and 4$0^{\circ}C$ in $\alpha$-Nb, respectively. However, the optimal pH for the enzyme activity was the same as 7.5 regardless of the substrates used, and relatively high thermostability of the CE was demonstrated by showing the denaturation at high temperature (50~55$^{\circ}C$).

Under Light and Scanning electron microscope, the pupal morphology of mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori Linn. revealed the prothorax and metathorax, well developed mesothorax, less defined last pair of sporacle, well exposed prothoracic femora and wing pads approaching the anterior margin of Ab III. The important sex separating characters viz, wegiht, antennal elevations, intersegmental lines and genings have discussed. Further, two separate openings bursa copulatrix and ovipositional opening were observed, performing different functions in abult moth.

In order to analyse the correlation between the parents and their hybrids in the silkworm, which were reared in spring, the author has surveyed the various quantitative characters which are significant in genetics, and the hybrid vigor rate. The duration of larvae life is shorter in F1 Value an in the mid parents value, cocoon size biffer, pupa rate, cocoon crop from ten thousand silkworms just molted in the fourth instar, total cocoon weight and cocoon layer weight increases in comparison with the mid parents value. Although cocoon layer ratio only shows increasing by 0.3％ or so, it is too little to admit the effect. F1 value is nearly equal to parent value and there is no correlation between F1 hybrids value and their mid parents value.

Soluble protein of the eight species of the Drosophila melanogaster species group was analyzed for three developmental stages of lanra, pupa and adult by 2DE. Genetic distances were calculated by Aquadro and Aviso's equation for three developmental stages, respectively. The dendrosrams showed the same patterns in three stages. The dendrograms showed that the melonogaster species group consisted of two clustered groups. Total soluble protein contents on three developmental stages of the eight species were compared. Closely related species showed resemblant protein changing pattern during development, and their developmental changing patterns were different according to the subgroup.

Research on Korean nematocerous flies (Diptera: Nematocera) was started by the National Institute of Biological Resources in 2012. This publication is a continuation of our previous work. During the season of 2019 insects were collected in Odaesan National Park by the researchers from Korea University. Among these samples, two specimens belonging to the family Hesperinidae, which was previously unrecorded from Korea, were noticed. This family is known from countries bordering Korea (East Siberia and Far East of Russia, Hokkaido Island of Japan), thus occurrence of hesperinid flies was expected on the Korean Peninsula. Only one genus Hesperinus Walker, 1848 with eight species belong to this family. They are developing in decaying wood of deciduous trees. Hesperinus rohdendorfi Krivosheina & Mamaev, 1967, which was known from East Siberia and Far East of Russia is recorded from South Korea. Redescription and photographs of the most important taxonomical details are presented.

Kolar gold (PM${\times}$CSR2) is the most popular cross breed of India, especially in Karnataka. During January - February 2004 we observed several phenotypic variations leading to poor survival. Though occurrence of morphologically abnormal individuals is common, the extent of occurrence in the present report was on the higher side (upto 6 percent). It is unwarranted and not desirable in commercial silkworm rearing. The variations exhibited might be due to change in the environmental conditions like incubation temperature during embryonic stage or spontaneous mutation resulting out of environmental stress.

In this study, we prepared alcohol extracts of the larva, pupa, queen, and cocoon (clony) of B. ignitus, B. terrestris, and B. h. sapporoensis, and tested the anti-inflammatory activity of the extracts by using a rat model of adjuvant-induced edema. The extracts derived from the queen of B. ignitus, the queen of B. terrestris, and the cocoon of B. ignitus decreased hind paw edema after 1 day of i.p. administration. These extracts also induced vasorelaxation and NO production in calf pulmonary artery endothelial cells. These results suggest that bumblebee alcohol extracts has anti-inflammatory and vasorelaxant properties.

본 연구를 통해 잔디주머니나방속이 국내에서 처음 발견되어 보고한다. 잔디주머니나방속내 잔디주머니나방에 대한 성충, 유충, 번데기 등 형태학적 특징을 재기재하였다. 또한 신속한 종 동정을 위한 DNA바코드 정보를 제공하였다.
