Pulsed Doppler 초음파속도측정의 정확도 판정 : 유동 phantom 연구 (Accuracy of Pulsed Doppler Ultrasound Velocity Measurements : In Vitro Flow Phantom Study)

  • An in vitro steady flow experiment was performed in order to test the accuracy of velocity measurement obtained through a pulsed Doppler echocardiography. A flow phantom was designed for the use in a wide velocity range at a given flow rate. The results showed that the pulsed Doppler velocity measurement obtained in this flow phantom is accurate at low flow rates. However, ultrasound velocity measurement should be performed under a careful considerations of PRF and Doppler gain settings, especially at higher flow rates.

  • The ultrasound Doppler effect is used for measuring the velocity of the bloodflow in an artry. Because of the range information, the pulsed doppler system is most commonly used. In this paper, we propose a new pulsed doppler system which uses a quadrature sampling method in R.F. range in order to detect the bloodflow direction and to simplify the compexity of hardware. The pulsed doppler system using quadrature sampling method in R.F. range eliminates In-phase, Quadrature phase channel balancing problem at demodulator. In addition, the improved pulsed Doppler system shows the possibility of serial processing.

  • 본 논문은 tms 32010이라는 디지탈 신호 처리용소자를 사용하여 초음하 펄스 도플러 장치를 구현한 것이다. 도플러 장피란 초음파 신호의 송수신 과정에서 발생하는 도플러 효과를 이용하여 혈류의 속도를 측정하는 장치이다. 한 점에서의 속도를 측정하는 단일채널 도플러 장치에서는 실시간 고속 푸리에 변환기를 구현하여 도플러 주하수의 스펙트럼을 측정함으로서 혈류속도를 측정하며 초음파 빔의 일직선상에서의 여러점을 동시에 측정하는 다중채널 도플러 장치에서는 영점교차검출기를 구현하여 평균주파수를 측정하였다. 자중채널 장치는 직렬처리법을 사용하여 하드웨어를 간단히 하였으며 8점에서의 속도를 측정할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • 보통의 초음파 도플러 시스템은 게이트된 연속파(gutted CW)를 사용하기 때문에 초음파 B스캔너와 같이 스캔할 수 있는 초음파 도플러 진단기는 많은 선형 고주파 증폭기를 필요로 한다. 제작이 어려운 고압 고주파 증폭기를 사용하지 않고 초음파 소자를 직접 임펄스로써 구동하는 펄스 도플러 시스템이 이론적으로 해석되었으며, 실험적으로 연구되었다. 설계된 시스템은 8채널 기능을 갖고, 직각 검파(quodrature detection)를 사용하여 목표물의 운동방향을 알 수 있도록 하였으며, 감쇄영향을 보상할 구 있도록 하였다. 연구된 시스템은 주파수 축상에서 실시간으로 혈류진단을 할 수 있는 다중 채널 진단기의 가능성을 보이고 있다.

  • $\underline{In\;vitro}$ velocity measurements were made using both the pulsed Doppler ultrasound (PDU) machine and laser Doppler anemometer (LDA) system in order to investigate the flow characteristics near the aortic bifurcation. Velocities measured from the PDU machine was in good agreement with those from the LDA. The flow in the daughter branches was three-dimensional with a secondary flow. The oscillating wall shear stress with this secondary fluid motion is well correlated with the localization of the atherosclerosis.

  • Three-dimensional steady and pulsatile flow experiments and numerical simulations have conducted to investigate the flow characteristics in the aortic bifurcation model. In vitro velocity measurements were made using both laser Doppler anemometry and pulsed Doppler ultrasound velocimetry. In this study, flow phenomena in the aortic bifurcation model are discussed extensively and the numerical results are compared with experimental results.

도플러 초음파를 이용한 개에서 마취에 따른 간문맥 혈류량 변화의 측정 (Estimation of portal blood flow using pulsed doppler ultrasound in the anesthetized dog)

  • Portal bood flow was measured with pulsed Doppler ultrasound in twenty anesthetized dogs. In anesthetized dogs with xylazine HCl, the average of portal blood flow velocity was reduced($11.68{\pm}1.55cm/sec$ vs. normal $16.67{\pm}1.77cm/sec$). Average portal blood flow was also decreased compared to normal($28.36{\pm}11.61ml/min/kg$ vs. normal $43.12{\pm}14.46 ml/min/kg$). And congestion index was increased($0.0368{\pm}0.0117cm{\cdot}sec$) vs. normal $0.0297{\pm}0.0062cm{\cdot}sec$). In anesthetized dogs with ketamine HCl, portal blood flow velocity was slightly increased ($22.62{\pm}2.53cm/sec$ vs. normal $16.67{\pm}1.77cm/sec$. Also mean portal blood flow was slightly increased($43.12{\pm}14.46ml/min/kg$ vs. normal $55.32{\pm}19.99ml/min/kg$). In anesthetized dogs with tiletamine and zolazepam, portal blood flow velocity and portal blood flow were unchanged.

색채 및 펄스 도플러 초음파를 이용한 경부 림프절의 양성과 악성의 감별 (Differentiation of Malignant and Benign Cervical Lymph Nodes with Color and Pulsed Doppler Ultrasonography)

  • Objectives: The clinical efficacy of the color and pulsed Doppler ultrasound with spectral waveform analysis for differentiation of malignant from benign cervical lymphadenopathy was prospectively evaluated in cervical lymphadenopathy. Materials and Methods: Color and pulsed Doppler ultrasound examination was prospectively performed in 32 cervical lymph nodes in 28 patients. These 10 nodes from 10 patients were malignant and 22 nodes from 18 patients were benign, proved by operation, biopsy, and follow-up examination. Another 12 lymph nodes from 12 normal volunteers were evaluated as control group. The peak systolic velocity (PSV), minimal diastolic velocity (MDV) , and resistive indexes (RI) of arterial flows within the 32 lymph nodes were assessed to differentiate the malignant from benign nodes with pulsed Doppler ultrasonography. The results were qualitified with one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni method of multiple comparison. Results: The mean values of PSV of malignant, benign, and control nodes were 38.2(10.1-134)cm/sec, 23.3(9-38.5) cm/sec and 11.8(6.7-18.1) cm/sec, respectively. The mean values of MDV of them were 0.9(-7.5-10.7)cm/sec, 9.7(2.9-18.6)cm/sec and 6.5(3.7-9.3)cm/sec, respectively. However, there was no statistical significance in differentiation of malignant from benign nodes with PSV and MDV. The mean values of RI of malignant, benign, and control nodes were 0.99(0.80-1.30), 0.59(0.46-0.77) and 0.45(0.38-0.50), respectively. RI value of 0.8 is suggestive value for discrimination of malignant from benign lymphadenopathy during examination of color Doppler ultrasound of cervical lymphadenopathy. Conclusion: Color and pulsed Doppler ultrasound examination with spectral waveform analysis may be quite helpful in the differentiation between benign and malignant alterations of cervical lymph nodes.

  • The important role of the ultrasonic Doppler system in the modem clinical medicine is to provide the clinical information of the vascular system. The ultrasonic pulsed wave(PW) Doppler system, a kind of the ultrasound Doppler system, is more available than the ultrasonic continuous wave(CW) Doppler system because it can evaluate the velocity and the direction of blood flow as well as the depth of vessel. However, the ultrasonic PW Doppler system has the disadvantage that the range of evaluating velocity of blood flow is limited(Nyquist limit). In order to solve this limit, we propose the algorithm for eliminating this aliasing in this paper. In addition, we propose the efficient signal processing algorithm.

  • Ultrasound Doppler Diagnostic System utilizes the Doppler effect for measurement of blood velocity. The sign of the Doppler frequency shift represents blood flow direction. Pulsed Doppler System uses Phase detector and zerocrossing method to produce simultaneous independent audio and velocity signals for forward and reverse blood flow direction in the time domain, had been fabricated. But time-domain analyzing such as audio evaluation and zerocrossing detection for instantaneous and mean frequency measurement doesn't, provide both an accurate and quantitative result. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt frequency domain technique to improve system performance. In this paper, we describe a unit which is composed of Pulsed Doppler System and real-time spectrum analyzer (installed TMS 32010 DSP Chip). This unit shows time-dependent spectrum variation and mean velocity of blood Signal.
