  • Ultra wide band electromagnetic energy can be transmitted to a far field by emitting the nanoseconds high voltage Pulse electromagnetic energy via an antenna. This UWB EM energy is expected to be used in post-packing pasteurization of food, detection of buried objects or underground water veins and caves and the treatment of waste water or polluted gas. The nanoseconds pulse forming for UWB generation using 500kV blumlein line and an ultrafast switch is mentioned.

  • This study examines a non-contact laser scanning-based ultrasound system, called an angular scan pulse-echo ultrasonic propagation imager (A-PE-UPI), that uses coincided laser beams for ultrasonic sensing and generation. A laser Doppler vibrometer is used for sensing, while a diode pumped solid state (DPSS) Q-switched laser is used for generation of thermoelastic waves. A high-speed raster scanning of up to 10-kHz is achieved using a galvano-motorized mirror scanner that allows for coincided sensing and for the generation beam to perform two-dimensional scanning without causing any harm to the surface under inspection. This process allows for the visualization of longitudinal wave propagation through-the-thickness. A pulse-echo ultrasonic wave propagation imaging algorithm (PE-UWPI) is used for on-the-fly damage visualization of the structure. The presented system is very effective for high-speed, localized, non-contact, and non-destructive inspection of aerospace structures. The system is tested on an aluminum honeycomb sandwich with disbonds and a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) honeycomb sandwich with a layer overlap. Inspection is performed at a 10-kHz scanning speed that takes 16 seconds to scan a $100{\times}100mm^2$ area with a scan interval of 0.25 mm. Finally, a comparison is presented between angular-scanning and a linear-scanning-based pulse-echo UPI system. The results show that the proposed system can successfully visualize defects in the inspected specimens.

  • We have analyzed the short pulse generation using heterodyne techniques. The numerical model for semiconductor lasers under the heterodyne technique is based on the Lang's equation and has been extended in order to take into account the simultaneous injection of the multiple sidebands of the current-modulated laser. The unselected sidebands will affect the optical and RF-spectral characteristics even when the semiconductor laser is locked to the target sidebands.

  • We report 400 femto-second highly stable, nearly transform-limited, pulse generation at 10 GHz in $1540{\sim}1550$ nm wavelength region by adiabatic soliton pulse compression of an actively mode-locked fiber ring laser output. Without using any supermode selection device, supermode beating noise has been suppressed below -123 dB/Hz, resulting less than 100 femto-second timing jitters at the noise band of $1\;kHz{\sim}100\;MHz$.

  • This paper presents a method of independent pulse repetition frequency(PRF) generation and control for frequency phase calibration on mono-pulse radar at a remote location. In order to generate an independent PRF signal of 320[Hz], pulse width modulation(PWM) of 16-bit timer/counter was applied. For a precision control of PRF signal, 16-bit timer/counter interrupt was changed for each period. Therefore, average frequency of PRF could be controlled by 0.0001[Hz]. To calibrate a frequency phase of mono-pulse radar at a remote location, the proposed PRF generator with a precision control of frequency was used regardless of receiving PRF signal from a radar. For the verification of the proposed PRF generator, theoretical analysis and experimental results are included.

  • For carnation productivity improvement, compact-low cost discharge lamp type ozonizer using pulse power source is designed and manufactured. This paper describes the discharge characteristics and the ozone generation characteristics with variation of the output voltage of pulse power source, the quantity of flowing air and the operating number of ozonizer. The important conclusions are as follows. The discharge voltage and current values are proportional to the output voltage of pulse power source. The ozone concentration and generation are proportional to the output voltage of pulse power source and the number of ozonizer. The maximum value of the ozone concentration and generation of the discharge lamp type ozonizer can be obtained 890[ppm] and 59.7[mg/h] respectively. In the carnation productivity house, when the discharge lamp type ozonizer is used the carnation is good quality in the uniformity of the carnation stalk thickness and increased the productivity through improvement of the air and the soil.

  • The development of a radial pulse simulator is pivotal for advancing wearable medical devices and enhancing pulse diagnosis methods prevalent in Oriental medicine. Such a simulator can be utilized for the calibration of wrist-worn wearable device sensors, as well as for training medical professionals in pulse diagnosis. This study introduces a novel, simple, and cost-effective pulse simulator that can generate a wide range of blood pressure waveforms. This simulator was designed and constructed as a prototype pulse simulator using two precision solenoid valves, an air chamber, a Half-CAM, a pneumatic sensor, and electronic control systems. By regulating air pressure through controlled opening and closing of the solenoid valve, the simulator can produce the desired pulse waveform. The performance of the proposed simulator was evaluated by replicating age-related radial pulses. Pulse waveforms generated by the simulator for four representative age groups (10, 50, 60, and 90 years) were compared with corresponding in vivo data. The experimental results demonstrated that the RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) estimate between the simulated in vivo pulse data and the actual in vivo pulse data was within 10% in all age groups. These findings demonstrate that fine pneumatic control by a solenoid valve allows the generation of sophisticated waveforms and validate that the proposed pulse simulator is capable of generating a diverse range of pulse waveforms.

  • This paper is studied the high-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation using optical loop mirror coupler. With the recent development of the ultrahigh-speed optical time division multiplexed system, hish-repetition rate optical-pulse stream generation is necessary. This is different from conventional approaches, which use fiber or integrated waveguide delay line circuits. The high-repetition-rate optical-pulse multiplication phenomenon occurs when the optical pulse's spectral width is greater than the transfer bandwidth of the coupler used. From the analysis, the output repetition rate can be controlled by using fiber couplers with different equivalent transfer bandwidths. The pulse separation spacing is controlled by number of cascaded coupler in optical loop mirror coupler scheme.

  • There are range and azimuth direction resolution of synthetic aperture radar on the aircraft or satellite. Wide bandwidth chirp pulse generation technology is prerequisite for SAR image with fine resolution. There are two kinds of digital chirp pulse generation technology as arbitrary waveform generator(AWG) and direct digital synthesizer(DDS). In this paper, we design and implement a digital chirp pulse generator to generate 300MHz wide bandwidth linear FM chirp pulse for the fine resolution image with direct digital synthesizer. Implemented chirp pulse generator can be useful for the SAR sensors to make 50cm range resolution image.

  • Ultralow-noise soliton pulse generation over a wider Fourier frequency range is highly desirable for many high-precision applications. Here, we realize a low-phase-noise soliton pulse generation by transferring the low phase noise of a mode-locked laser to a silica microcomb. A 21.956-GHz and a 9.9167-GHz Kerr soliton combs are synchronized to a 2-GHz and a 2.5-GHz mode-locked laser through a fractional optoelectronic phase-locked loop, respectively. The phase noise of the microcomb was suppressed by up to ~40 dB at 1-Hz Fourier frequency. This result provides a simple method for low-phase-noise soliton pulse generation, thereby facilitating extensive applications.
