  • The Holographic Particle Velocimetry system can be a promising optical tool for the measurements of three dimensional particle velocities. In this research, the optical system for double pulse holographic recording and reconstruction of particle images was developed. Validation experiments for the developed system were conducted measuring the velocities of glass beads on a rotating disk. Uncertainty analysis was performed to identify the sources of all relevant errors and to evaluate their magnitude. The measurement results of distance between glass beads, size, and velocities of them using holographic method compared reasonalbly well with the known values within acceptable range of errors.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new passive transponder that operates without external power in a visible light identification system. The transponder consists of a solar cell, a photodiode, a microprocessor, and a visible LED. When a reader sends light to the transponder, the solar cell generates current from the reader light and supplies power to the other elements in the transponder. At the same time, the photodiode detects the pulse in the reader light and initiates a microprocessor to generate and send a responding light to the reader. In experiments, we realized a passive transponder using a solar cell that operated at a distance of 1m without external power.

  • When a high voltage COS fuse becomes a short circuit by the over current, the impulse noise over 150 dB(A) with the strong pulse jet is radiated from the COS fuse of an electric transformer. For the purpose of the impulse noise reduction, in this study, a reactive type silencer with perforated panels are considered. The transmission loss of the silencer are calculated by transfer matrix method. The effect of the porosity, the distance between panels, and the number of perforated panel on the sound transmission loss is investigated and discussed.

  • This study deals with the characteristics of wire-cut EDM(Electrical Discharge Machining)process in aluminum alloys. Besides 2 series and 7 series of aluminum alloys for aerospace applications, porous aluminum is tested, which is used for sound absorbing matherial and interior and exterior material of building. Jinyoung JW-30 wire cutting machine was used in this experiment. Tap wate passed a filter and ionization was used as the discharging solution. An immerision method was applied as a cooling method because it separates chips effectively and machinability is good even with low value of electric current. The speed of fabrication was estimated by measuring the travel distance of the work piece and time spent for the movement. As pulse-on-time increased the fabrication speed decreased. On the other hand, as peak voltage of peak current increased the fabrication speed increased. In general 7075 aluminum alloy resulted in higher fabrication speed.

  • Case hardening behavior of carbon tool steel(SK5) was investigated after pulsed YAG laser irradiation. In the case od beam passes, martensite formed in the melt zone and in former pearlite regions of the austenitization zone exhibits vary high Vickers hardness values. The molten depth and width decrease as the beam power density increase. The influence of depth and width of color painted specimen was also investigated. The molten zone of the black painted specimen was the largest. The were loss of the black painted specimen was smaller than any other painted or raw material.

  • In this paper, we explain the signal characteristics of HEMP and HEMP protection factors that affect the facilities are analyzed. We find the necessary elements of the physical facilities available for building. Shielding effects were measured by changing frequency and the distance of receiving antenna. Each measured value was compared to U.S. standard and measuring method was simplified. shielding effects were measured by three different conditions of shielding room. Find the difference between forward measurement and reverse measurement and factors which affects the measurement in shielding room.

  • In the soliton transmission system for a long-length and high bit rate data transmission systme using the nonlinear/dispersive optical fibers, the improtant problem is the loss characteristics and is the limited transmission rate by interaction forces. In this paper, It is explained the reasons of moved time position for the soliton peak value due to interaction force sof adjacent solitons. And for the analysis of interaction force affection level in the losslessmedia, we define the percent parameter of error rate due to the interaction forces and propose the optimum time distance of adjacent solitons by peak value tracking methods. With the results, initial percent of error is approximately 50% when itme difference between adjacent solitons is 5 times of funddametnal soliton pulse width. And it is confirmed that maximum transmission length of th esolitons is approximately 38 times of fundamental soliton period, which the maximum allowable percoent of error is 50%.

  • In this study, the ultrasonic transducer was fabricated with piezoceramic-polymer 1-3 type composites. Pulse-echo response of that transducer in water was investigated with variable water-level. Output of LED was under the control of the signal, which was analyzerd by the self-made Electric Unit. This paper represents automatically water-detecting system with variable water level. There was in good agreement water level between the virtual level and output signal by using the self-made water-detecting system.

  • Arc-shaped line array slits have been used for the laser generation of focused Lamb waves. The spatially expanded Nd:YAG pulse laser was illuminated through the arc-shaped line array slit on the surface of a sample plate to generate the Lamb waves of the same pattern as the slit. Then the generated Lamb waves were focused at the point of which distance from the slit position is dependent on the curvature of slit arc. The proposed method showed better spatial resolution than the conventional linear array slit in the detection of laser machined linear defect and drill machined circular defect on aluminum plates of 1mm thickness.

  • This study suggested the occurrence source of weld-defects and its solution methods in a welding of Electrolyte injection hole by pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In experiment, the ramp down was used in order that solidification crack was removed. Furthermore. shrinkage stress and heat input were reduced by changing of weld trajectory and defocused distance. As a results of a experiment, a sound weld bead shape and crack-free weld bead can be obtained. In conclusion this show that the welding stability is greatly affected by modulation of laser pulse shape for the same laser energy and welding parameters.
