The bark of Juglans mandshurica Maxim. was collected, extracted with acetone-$H_2O$ (7:3, v/v), fractioned with n-hexane, $CH_2Cl_2$ and EtOAc, then each fraction was freeze-dried to give some powders. A portion of the EtOAc (28.4 g) fraction was chromatographed on a Sephadex LH-20 column eluting with a series of MeOH-$H_2O$ and EtOH-hexane mixture. Four gallotannins, gallic acid (1), ellagic acid (2), 1,2,4,6-tetra-O-galloyl-${\beta}$-D-glucose (3) and 1,2,3,4,6-penta-O-galloyl-${\beta}$-D-glucose (4), have been isolated from the EtOAc fraction Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical evidence and spectrometric analysis such as NMR and MS. The antioxidant activities on each fraction and the isolated gallotannins were evaluated by DPPH radical scavenging test.
Two phenolic acids, gallic acid (1) and syringic acid (2), and five flavonoids, apigenin (3), luteolin (4), kaempferol (5), quercetin (6), and myricetin (7), were isolated from the aerial parts of Leonurus japonicus. Their structures were elucidated by chemical and spectral analysis. The antioxidant activities of the crude extracts, partitioned fractions and isolated compounds were evaluated by DDPH free radical-scavenging assay. Results suggested that the EtOAc partitioned fraction and compounds 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 showed significantly high antioxidant potential compared with $\alpha-tocopherol$ and BHT, which were used as controls.
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of cigarette papers, flax and wood, on the delivery of mainstream smoke. The main components of cigarette papers were cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, and pectin. Lignin contents, known as precursor of smoke's phenolic compounds, of the flax and wood cigarette papers were 5.8% and 10.6%, respectively. The pyrolysis products of cigarette papers were similar by the profile of total ion chromatogram. But, the area % of some components, such as 1,3-cyclopentanedione, 3,5- dimethyl cyclopentane-1,2-dione, 2-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-cyclopentenone, dihydro-2(3H)-furanone, 3-methyl-2(5H)-fruanone, and 5-methyl-2-furaldehyde delivered through pyrolysis of the flax cigarette paper were higher than that of wood cigarette paper. Otherwise, the area % of some components, such as 2-methyl-cyclopentene-l-one), 2,3-butanedione, 2-cyclopentene-l-one, and 5-hydroxy-2-methyl-furaldehyde, 2-furaldehyde delivered through pyrolvsis of the wood cigarette paper were higher than that of flax cigarette paper. To identify the difference between two cigarette papers, we used the cigarette column filled with the cut cigarette paper instead of the cut tobacco leaf. The amounts of semi-volatile fraction delivered from flax cigarette paper was more than that of wood cigarette paper. But, by using the cut tobacco, there was no big difference of delivery amount between flax and wood cigarette papers. Also, aroma of TPM by collecting from brening cut tobacco wrapped in flax and wood papers showed a different pattern by the electonic nose system. Although the difference between two cigarette papers by using the cut tobacco was smaller than that of cut cigarette paper, this result indicated that the fax and wood had the different effects on the delivery of smoke components as shown in the sensory test results.
From the EtOAc soluble fractions of Platanus orientals Linn leaves, (+)-catechin (1), (+)-epicatechin (2), (+)-gallocatechin (3), kaempferol (4), quercetin (5), kaempferol-3-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranoside (6), quercetin-3-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (7) and tyrosol (8) were isolated. The structures of the isolated compounds were characterized by NMR and MS spectrometers. The antioxidative activities of the isolated compounds and fractions were evaluated by DPPH free radical scavenging method and the results indicated that compounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and EtOAc soluble fraction exhibited greater activities than ${\alpha}$-tocopherol and BHT, while compounds 6, 8 and other fractions showed low activity compared to the controls.
Basidiomycetous fungi are one of the most potent biodegraders because many of its species grow on dead wood or litter, in environments rich in lignocellulose. For the degradation of lignocellulose, basidiomycetes utilize their lignocellulytic enzymes, which typically include laccase (EC 1.10.3.2), lignin peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.14), xylanase (EC 3.2.1.8), and cellulase (EC 3.2.1.4). In recent years, the practical applications of basidiomycetes have ranged from the textile to the pulp and paper industries, and from food applications to bioremediation processes and industrial enzymatic saccharification of biomass. Recently, spent mushroom substrates of edible mushrooms have been used as sources of bulk enzymes to decolorize synthetic dyes in textile wastewater. In this review, the occurrence, mode of action, general properties, and production of lignocellulytic enzymes from mushroom species will be discussed. We will also discuss the potential applications of these enzymes.
The ESEM could be used in investigating the fibrous networks developed during handsheet-forming processes with the exception of the stages relating to the actual dispersion of the fibers and the drying of formed sheets. Also the cross-sectional images of swollen fibers were generated with the ESEM but the information given by the images was rarely fresh compared to the CLSM images. The LTSEM was extremely useful in generating images of the microfibrillar structure of a wet fiber with great resolution. However, pretreatment required in the LTSEM chamber was somewhat tedious due to the time consumed in sublimation of ice and sputter coating. For observation of lamellar structure of a hydrated fiber, the LTSEM exhibited greatly detailed structure with high resolution. Finally ESEM and LTSEM should be used in a finite field such as observation of surface morphology in detail.
In this study, a new type of Aliquat 336/PVC membrane has been made for extraction experiments. This new membrane is capable of holding more Aliquat 336 than previously developed extraction membranes, hence overcoming a major problem that has confronted many researchers for a long time. The new membrane has been used try investigate the rate of extraction fur the Cd(II) ion in 2.0 M HCI solution and the effect of membrane thickness on the rate of extraction. The experimental results have shown this new membrane has a promising future in relevant industrial applications. A new method is also used in this study to qualitatively identify the oily substance on the surface of membrane after the extraction experiment was completed. This oily substance has been found to be Aliquat 336.
The purpose of this study was to analysis and improve working posture using hazard factor analyzing tools. SI(The Strain Index) came up with the conclusion that RWDR1 and RWDR3 was a dangerous job, but not as dangerous as RWDR2. According to REBA. RWDR3 required some improvements; A mat to prevent fatigue(WIRE/PRESS 2), electric bogie(RWDR1), and waist/wrist protector(RWDR3). Additionally a correct sitting posture m WIRE/PRESS1 and stretching on a regular basis in RWDR2 were recommended.
Material is a factor for maximizing formative aspect among fashion design factors. Therefore, central axis of modern fashion is performing various trials for escaping from existing cloth and searching for artistic value. Especially, Korean paper is a formative material, which is manufactured through traditional manual work in Korea. The material is used in various fields on the basis of its aesthetic feature. Especially, fashion field performs handcraft activity on the basis of mulberry pulp, which is a prime material of Korean paper. Because the activity can be reinterpreted by world designers, who want to find motive of fashion material in the third world, it is necessary to perform experimental study for developing expressive form on the basis of diversity of Korean paper material. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to perform experimental study by focusing on the development of Korean paper material in order to express formative feature. The study purposes are as follows. The first purpose is to reinterprete the theory through actual work of fiber formation using Korean paper in the current flow where art and design field are fused and compromised. The second purpose is to suggest vision of material development on the basis of formative feature to fashion world focusing its eyesight to Asia and the third countries. The study results are as follows. First, Korean paper has been evaluated as proper material for the fusion of design and art because of its handicraft feature, long-term preservation, heat insulation, absorption, diversity and eastern feature. Second, the study performed various trials for artistic dress material by developing 12 Korean paper works and suggested the development of new material on the basis of formative feature of modem fashion industry.
The results of an experimental study on the manufacture and the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced calcium silicates-cement composites utilizing by products (fly ash or cement sludge) for construction materials are presented in this paper. As the test results show, compressive, tensile, and flexural strength, fracture toughness of fiber reinforced calcium silicates-cement composites were improved by increasing the fly ash and fiber contents, but were decreased by increasing cement sludge contents. Somehat, especially increasing fiber contents the fracture toughness of the composites were remarkably increased. Also, the mechanical properties of the composites reinforcing alkali-resistance GF were higher than those of the composites reinforcing Samoa Pulp.
