Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore how homeless shelter worker and public health nurses perceive health status and health care of homeless shelter residents (HSRs). Methods: Data collected through focus group interviews. In Focus group, in-depth discussions were between 150 to 160 minutes. Data analyzed using Krueger (1998) step analysis. Participants were seven experienced clinical social workers, nurses working homeless shelters, and public health center nurses for dosshouse people. Results: The results were 4 themes and 15 sub-themes: Characteristics of HSRs, perception of health and health problem of HSRs (alcohol related disease, hypertension Diabetics, gastro-intestinal disease, dental disease and infectios disease such as Tuberculosis, musculo-skeletal disease, prostate problem), health care status of HSRs(insufficient health care service, discrimination of medical staff, lack of health care management, low satisfaction community health care services), and the health care proposal of HSRs(nurse in homeless shelter, integrated health care system, understanding of homeless) Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, health care programs focusing on understanding of HSRs and chronic diseases of HSRs increasing steadily although the management system is limited. Therefore, more systemized health care plan and health referral system for homeless people.
This paper discusses the merits of the community capacity and capacity building concepts, the strategies used for building community capacity and their implications for community health nursing. Community capacity is defined as the interaction of the human capital, organizational resources, and social capital existing within a given community that can be used to improve or maintain the health of the community. Community capacity building is one approach to promoting community health. This approach takes a comprehensive, dynamic, and multidimensional view of community needs and circumstances and places an emphasis on asset development, collaboration among community organizations, and community participation. The major strategies for community capacity building involve activities such as facilitating the development of an asset-based approach to community, developing leadership, establishing partnership, organization development, utilizing community resources, and developing public relations. The implications of community capacity for community health nursing are addressed in terms of the need for community health education and practicum, long-term commitment, partnerships, and a paradigm shift. The author suggests that the concept of community capacity building may be useful for improving the health of both the entire community and its individual residents.
Background: Few studies have examined the performance of the public long-term care insurance (LTCI) from the perspective of geographic equity. This study investigated regional variations and associated factors in the supply and utilization of nursing home care within and also between Japan and Korea. Methods: A comparative dataset was developed by extracting data from 2013-2015 LTCI statistics yearbooks and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development regional statistics, as well as other comparable data in Japan and Korea. The unit of analysis was the prefecture in Japan and the province in Korea. We computed variation indices and conducted regression analyses for regional variations within each country and decomposition analyses to examine the variations between the countries. Results: The overall regional supply and use of nursing home care were higher in Japan, but the regional variations in Korea were larger than in Japan. In both countries, the nursing home supply was negatively associated with the proportion of older people with independent living. Nursing home use was also negatively associated with the supply of hospital beds and home care agencies in Korea; the relationship was the opposite in Japan, however. The country-based differences were more likely to be explained by differences in the distributions of the variables included in the analytical model than country-specific characteristics. Conclusion: Regional-level nursing home supply and use were unequal in both countries, and the contributing factors were not the same. Policy efforts are needed to advance regional equality in long-term care (LTC) and collaboration between health and LTC institutions for frail older people, especially in Korea.
This descriptive correlation study attempted to analyze the relationship between school health practice competency and satisfaction of school health practice in nursing college students. The participants in this study included 191 nursing college students from three junior colleges. The data were collected using a self-reported questionnaires developed or revised by the authors from 22 June to 7 July, 2002. The data were analyzed with the SPSS program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation coefficient. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The mean score of school health practice competency was 3.59. The mean score of health education, health management, nursing process, environmental management were 3.81, 3.73, 3.47 and 3.36 respectively. 2. The mean score of school health practice satisfaction was 3.34. The mean score of instruction, practice environment, contents, practice hours and evaluation were 3.66, 3.37, 3.26, 3.21 and 3.21 respectively. 3. Type of school was only significant factor in general characteristics related to satisfaction of school health practice. 4. Correlation between school health practice competency and satisfaction of school health practice showed that the positive correlation between satisfaction and competency (r=0.247, p=0.00l). nursing process(r=0.356, p=0.000), environmental management (r=0.153, p=0.035). In conclusion, this study found that satisfaction of school health practice was significantly related to school health practice competency in nursing college students. Therefore further study is needed to make a strategies to enhance the quality of school health practice competency in nursing college students.

Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey and questionnaires were collected from 240 nursing students who have studied in nursing colleges located in "J" province. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, $Scheff{\grave{e}}$ test, Pearson Correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: In Model I, general characteristics influenced of 17.6% of health promotion behavior factors. Health status, selection criteria and frequency of information search were statistically useful as influencing of health promotion behavior factors. In addition, in model II health information seeking behavior influenced of 18.1% of health promotion behavior factors. This study aimed to investigate predictors of turnover intention of home visiting nurses at 16 public health centers in Busan. There are two groups of independent factors: non-work related(i. e., age, educational level, working duration as nurses in hospitals, and certificate), and work related factors(i. e., working duration as nurses in public health centers, working duration as home visiting nurse, position, number of households visited per week, workload, cooperation among staff, support by supervisors, supply of vehicles, and supply of materials). Data were collected with self-administrated questionnaires which consisted of 4 items of non-work related factors, 9 items of work related factors, and 1 item of turnover intention to other department. Data were analyzed using an univariate logistic regression and multiple logistic regression. According to the results, heavy workload (Yes vs No, OR=4.31, $95\%$ CI=1.16-16.04) was the most powerful predictor on the turnover intention. In conclusion. this result was similar to those of other studies on the predictors of turnover intention of clinical nurses at hospitals. To decrease the turnover intention among home visiting nurses at public health centers in Busan, alleviating the workload is needed.
