Face sketch synthesis plays an important role in public security and digital entertainment. In this paper, we present a novel face sketch synthesis method via local similarity and nonlocal similarity regularization terms. The local similarity can overcome the technological bottlenecks of the patch representation scheme in traditional learning-based methods. It improves the quality of synthesized sketches by penalizing the dissimilar training patches (thus have very small weights or are discarded). In addition, taking the redundancy of image patches into account, a global nonlocal similarity regularization is employed to restrain the generation of the noise and maintain primitive facial features during the synthesized process. More robust synthesized results can be obtained. Extensive experiments on the public databases validate the generality, effectiveness, and robustness of the proposed algorithm.

National forests have an advantage over private forests in terms of higher investment in capital, technology, and labor, allowing for more intensive management. As such, national forests are expected to serve not only as a strategic reserve of forest resources to address the long-term demand for timber but also to stably perform various essential forest functions demanded by society. However, most forest stands in the current national forests belong to the fourth age class or above, indicating an imminent timber harvesting period amid an imbalanced age class structure. Therefore, if timber harvesting is not conducted based on systematic management planning, it will become difficult to ensure the continuity of the national forests' diverse functions. This study was conducted to determine the optimal volume of timber production in the national forests to improve the age-class structure while sustainably maintaining their economic and public functions. To achieve this, the study first identified areas within the national forests suitable for timber production. Subsequently, a forest management planning model was developed using multi-objective linear programming, taking into account both the national forests' economic role and their public benefits. The findings suggest that approximately 488,000 hectares within the national forests are suitable for timber production. By focusing on management of these areas, it is possible to not only improve the age-class distribution but also to sustainably uphold the forests' public benefits. Furthermore, the potential volume of timber production from the national forests for the next 100 years would be around 2 million m3 per year, constituting about 44% of the annual domestic timber supply.
Background and Purpose : Forest-Therapy has received attention as a treatment of regulating living habits with the increase of chronic disease. Forest-Therapy and Korean Medicine are in same as their philosophy to adapt to nature and they can suggest new alternative treating of chronic diseases. Now we want to look the possibility of development of Forest-Therapy program adopting Korean Medicine with the analysis of research status and cases of Forest-Therapy. Methods : We searched articles in Korea by using keyword 'Forest-Therapy', 'Forest & Therapy' 'Forest' and 'Therapy' Korean. Results : Even though the domestic research about Forest-Therapy is still insufficient, there is a need of try referring the cases of Germany and Japan. Forest-Therapy program was used to get psychological stability, release stress and treat alcohol diseases. There was some cases that adopt the nature to clinical field actively. The clinical articles were mainly published about stress and health. Conclusions : It seems that running the constitutional program that considers different among individuals adopting Sasang constitutional medicine, utilizing Forest-Therapy Doctor through the participation of Public Oriental Medicine Doctor, and operating experience program applying Herb have sufficient possibility.
The master plan of forest land management proposes forest watershed management that considers regional characteristics in order to overcome the problem of uniform forest land management. In order to manage the forest watersheds in Gyeonggi-do, this study classified 1,823 forest watersheds in Gyeonggi-do and attempted to understand their characteristics. It conducted a factor analysis and cluster analysis from the perspective of conservation value and development pressure using forest land indicators. In terms of conservation value, three factors were drawn: the topography factor, vegetation factor and public service factor, while in terms of development pressure, three factors were drawn: the easiness of development factor, economic benefits factor and development activity factor. Using these factors, forest watersheds were divided into three clusters in terms of conservation value while they were divided into three clusters in terms of development pressure. Using the results of the cluster analysis from a conservation-development perspective, the forest watersheds were classified into nine different types, and the characteristics were identified by each type. It is judged that the factors and clusters drawn as a result of the research accurately reflect the present conditions of Gyeonggi-do, and the nine types of forest watersheds have clear characteristics according to each type, which are judged to be utilized in forest management in the future.

The main purpose of this study was to estimate a new regression model to explain the relationship between urban forest and air temperature in summer, 2001. This study consists of two parts: correlation coefficient analysis and regression analysis. According to correlation coefficient analysis, thermal infra-red radiations of the major land use categories found significant difference in each category. However there were no significant relationship between the data (thermal infra-red radiation and NDVI) derived from Landsat-7 ETM+ image and air temperature at Automatic Weather Stations(AWSs). After estimating various regression models for summer air temperature, the final models were chosen. The final regression models consisted of two variables such as forest m and traffic facilities area. The regression models explained over 78% of the variability in air temperatures. The regression models with variables of forest area and traffic facilities area showed that the coefficient of the first variable was even more significant than the second one. However, the negative impact of the traffic facilities area was slightly greater than the positive impact of the forest area. Consequently, the effects of forest area and traffic facilities area were apparent to explain summer air temperature in Seoul. Therefore two policies have the most important implications to mitigate the summer air temperature in Seoul: to expand and to conserve the urban forest; and to change the Oafnc facilities'characteristics. The results from this study are expected to be useful not merely in informing the public that urban forest mitigates summer air temperahne, but in urging the necessity of budgets for trees and managing urban forests. It is recommended that field swey of summer air temperature be Performed for the vadidation of the models. This study identified and evaluated conditions for continued participation of private forest owners in forest carbon offset programs. The probability of continuing forest carbon offset projects, which delays greenhouse gas emissions by extending harvesting periods, increases with increasing price of carbon offset credits, public recognition of forest value, and education level. Willingness to Accept (WTA) was estimated using a Multiple Bounded Dichotomous Choice Question, which was 17,039 KRW/tCO2 for extending age to 60 years, and 23,070 KRW/tCO2 for 100 years. The following findings aim to promote participation and supply of carbon offset programs in private forests according to the study outcomes. First, introducing policies supporting private forest owners bearing opportunity costs for avoiding greenhouse gas emissions by postponing timber harvest is needed. Second, educational programs for private forest owners whose awareness of and interests in the public value of forest is necessary. Third, although having participated from the beginning of the offset program, finding ways to lead continuous participation of forest owners who are less likely to accept WTA is also necessary.
The objective of this study was to develop evaluation criteria for forest education using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) model. To this end, we designed a survey based on expert advice and content analysis of previous studies on the CIPP model and forest education. The survey was conducted on 393 forest education specialists, and Cronbach's α coefficient was set as 0.6 or higher to verify reliability and validity, and to determine reliability by factor. Eventually, 52 out of 57 evaluation items were extracted, and the evaluation indexes were selected through factor analysis as follows: four evaluation indexes for the context dimension, namely "Clarity of goal setting," "Developing conditions for education," "Meeting of requirements," and "Institutional drive"; three evaluation indexes for the input dimension, namely "Acquisition of education infrastructure," "Establishment of operational support," and "Adequacy of assigned manpower"; four evaluation indexes for the process dimension, which were "Adequacy of budget allocation," "Expertise of forest education instructors," "Diversity of programs," and "Public-private academic partnership"; and five evaluation indexes for the product dimension, namely "Effectiveness of perception change," "Influence over the society," "Continuity of improvement in evaluation," "Continuity of education," and "Verification of the effects of education."
Forest parks are regarded as one of the scientific ways to keep the forest sustainably developed, meanwhile deliver the benefits to the general public. The development of forest parks in China has experienced simply more than 20 years and both the exploitation and management institutions haven't been set up systematically, which, in reality, reflects as inadequate legislative and policy framework. Without the regulatory guidance and collaborating assistance of environment relating governmental sectors at both national and local levels, it's inevitable that the development of forest parks in the country would face constant problems and conflicts. Therefore, it might be helpful to sort out this conflicts and problems and further more to work out how to solve the barriers. The research in this report started with introducing the IUCN Protected Areas Categories, the overall current situations in China and compared the definition of forest parks in the country and that in international experience. It is to aim to find out the real usufruct rights conflicts during the exploitation and management of forest parks and the method used in this report is field visit, previous investigation, collecting secondary materials, interview, analysis and comparison. The research result in this report couldn't cover all the conflict situations during the forest parks' exploitation and management in China but will provide the analysis of this problem from the legal perspective. Practical application and concerning suggestion will be fully discussed in Part 5 in terms of legislative, social and environmental effects.
The first purpose of this study is the verification of hypothesis on Abies holophylla planted as a guardian for Japanese. Second, the purpose of this study is on Abies holophylla planted in the historic sites for anti-Japan fighter. Japan planted Abies holophylla to honor the god of Suwataisha that took care of the Jingu-Kogo's Conquest of Samhan(Three Kingdoms). The fact that Abies holophylla was planted in the historic sites for anti-Japan fighter such as General Gwon Yul, Yi Sun-Shin was investigated. The hypothesis that Abies holophylla was planted as a guardian for Japanese was verified through survey on the pictures of Abies holophylla in Japanese temple, public sites, company of nursing the saplings, commemorative tree of governor and the judgment of Abies holophylla damage incident. Further studies should focus on the intention of planting Abies holophylla by Japan. Researcher should discuss Abies holophylla planted in the historic sites for anti-Japan fighter because old big trees will be respected.

As a result of climate change, mountain sediment disasters due to localized heavy rain and mountain development are occuring more frequently, thus, increasing social attention to and demand for soil erosion control projects. However, since 2011 Seoul Wumyeon Mountain landslide, the public is expressing increasing anxiety as well as negative perception regarding defective project results. Therefore, this study investigated promotional terms and information media related to soil erosion control projects according to the consumer in order to increase awareness of soil erosion control projects. In this study, the information consumers were divided into experts and the general public and conducted a survey related to promotional terms and media for communicating relevant information. In the result, the experts chose landslide prevention and recovery projects (41.8%) as an appropriate promotional term for soil erosion control projects. The general public, however, chose mountain sediment disaster prevention projects (32.5%) as the appropriate promotional term. However, the analysis showed that it would be necessary to develop an promotional term that can encompass the concept of 'disaster prevention' including forest and soil disaster as the word 'landslide' can suggest soil erosion control is limited to landslides only. In the survey regarding the media for communicating information related to soil erosion control projects according to the consumer type, the experts preferred radio and TV as media to communicate the relevant information, while, among the general public, the youths preferred social media such as Facebook and Twitter (22.22%) and adults radio and TV (34.07%), As for the most effective way to promote soil erosion control projects, the experts chose traditional promotinal media such as newspaper, radio, and TV (0.172) whereas the adults and youths preferred the internet and Facebook (0.089). It appears that using the preferred media for communicating information related to soil erosion control projects according to the consumer type will be effective way to promote soil erosion control projects.
