The use of colors plays an important role in the field of space design. The selection of proper colors influences on people who use space by making the most of the psychological and physical functions of colors. Especially, the medical space is relatively more important than other indoor spaces in the selection of colors. The medical space has to be something to do with diversity and functions, and at the same time with stability and quietude, as well as the space with general convenient facilities. Color is not only related to the expression but also to the distinction of things and the existence. It also functions as a visual language. Human beings depend heavily on the function of color as a visual language. According to previous studies, human beings depend on color by 80% of the whole range of eyesight. Thus, color is an important factor in recognizing things and space. For example, in hospital, it Is very important to apply proper colors to various medical treatment spaces for the sake of patients' rest and healing. Various colors which do not consider the function of patients' rest and healing may make the space confusing against the change of space and structure. It is also important to apply colors to the change of space and structure. Another key point that I would like to make is that color has visual, direct and physical influence on the human body. For example, the color red with long wavelength serves to regulate body temperature. Research on the color scheme for hospitals should consider both physical and psychological factors. That is why the research should be carried out in depth through continuous clinical demonstration. The present research aims to outline color planning.

Objective : In period of convalescence and aftereffect, facial palsy patients suffer from social and psychological problems, besides experiencing physical inconvenience. So Quality of life is important Evaluation in treatment or facial palsy. Nevertheless the aims of recent study were only trying to explain about objective symptoms. Therefore, Oriental-Western Medicine was performed, effectiveness of treatment were measured in Quality of life. Methods : Acute facial palsy patients who visiting whin 5days completed questionnaire about Quality of life, if he(or she) participated voluntarily. Questionnaire are comprised of general characteristics, Facial Disability Index(FDI), WHOQOL-BREF, VAS and House-Brackmann grade. Questionnaire used two times, the first medical examination and 4weeks later after starting Oriental-Western Medicine. The statistical analysis was performed by GraphPad Prism 4.0. T-test was used to verify effectiveness between the two groups. Results : 1. When we compared the first medical examination with 4weeks later, score of FDI-Physical function and FDI-Social/Well-bieng function increased but they were not valid statistically. 2. When we compared the first medical examination with 4weeks later, in WHOQOL-Brefoverall domain and physical domain, score increased. In WHOQOL-Bref-psychological, Social, Environment domain, score decreased. but, they were not valid statistically. 3. VAS, House-Brackmann grade decreased, but, they were not valid statistically. Conclusion : The number of subjects with facial palsy in our study(N=5) was too small, and the period of study(4 weeks) was short, too. For this reason, our data were not valid statistically. But Facial palsy Patient's Quality of life has risen.
The purpose of this study was introduce peer mentoring which is well used in various rehabilitation areas in overseas country to Korea academically and clinically and help psychological and physical recovery for stroke survivor. It was two group experimental design study, this protocol is designed for stroke survivor, 3-6 months after the onset. Peermentors were consisted of outpatients who is stroke survivor in different recovery levels, at least 2 year after the onset. Peermentors received education about how to support and mentor participants of the program emotionally, appraisally, and informationally and how to run the program. Geriatric Depression Scale Short Form-Korea Version(GDSSF-K) is used to measure psychological factor, Stroke Impact Scale(SIS) is used to measure recovery level of patient, and for physical factor Upper Extremity Function Test for the Elderly(TEMPA) was used. A researcher who is interested in the peer mentor program needs to find more effective applying method based on be offered method in this study for helping recovery after stroke.
Cyberspace is on its way to experience dynamic change, hereby encompassing technical and social diversities and multiplicities. The internet, with a history of no more than 10 years, has drastically changed the way, meaning and conduct of our lives, the structure and function of society and communication. Even in psychology, in which the purpose is to scientifically look into the human mind and explore its behavior, the in-depth inquiry into the human behavior and psychological features of the cyberspace have become an increasingly important issue. Research suggests that psychological features and concepts brought about during the process of communication in cyberspace have been influenced by the digital mode following the analogue one, and by the online mode following the off line one. It also suggests that, with new issues peculiar to information society, cultural structures should be re-conceptualized, reconstructed and reevaluated in various fields. This approach to the changing role, meaning and style within society should be rearranged and referred to as cyber psychology.
This study has been performed to come up with any rational way for responding to the functions of fire-fighting spaces newly required by the changing social paradigms and to seek for the approach to designing fire-fighting spaces by taking into account the psychological and behavioral factors of fire-fighters who are exposed stress of operations. In particular, it is to satisfy any physical and functional requirements as special working-spaces and to reflect the psychological and behavioral approach to the workers who are forced to be at standby for a long time, which is the characteristic of their operation, to designing. Accordingly, for fundamental appreciation of whether or not such space programs as space organization needed for operational function are being practiced actively, the fire-fighting headquarters of Incheon City has been selected for the research. First, in the process of assessing the trend of organizing the space at safety centers for the recent 20 years, those built more than 20 years ago were left out from the space selection for the research. Second, those with less than 20 operators also were excluded. Third, among those completed in the same year, only one was selected, which was to avoid overlapping, with the consideration its regional representative nature for applying the safety centers in the jurisdiction of the headquarters equally. The study was performed through the visits to and the actual inspections by surveys at the selected 119 Safety Centers as well as the reviews of literature based on case studies. And for the assessment of significance, surveys and analysis of reliability and factors were carried out. The actual users of Safety Centers were picked as objects for the assessment of significance of space factors at 119 Safety Centers, which revealed that there are five types of dimensions for factor-analyzing standard with which users estimate any significance, which are "Area of Mobilization Preparation and Return" "Area of Standby" "Area of Working Activities" "Area of Employ Welfare" and "Area of Support".
Objective : In Western medicine, the cause of obesity include overeating, lack of exercise, genetic factor, endocrinal impediment and psychological factor. Since the society becomes more complexed and the tensions among social members gets intensified, psychological factor getting more important. In Oriental medicine, Seven Emotion(七情, in oriental medical term) as an emotional stressor was thought to be a factor of obesity. Therefore the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Seven Emotion and obesity in detail. Methods : overview the stress with the view of Oriental medicine and research the relationship between Seven Emotion as an emotional stressor and obesity. Results : 1. Seven Emotion can be understood as an emotional stress in Western medicine. If Seven Emotion is excessive, its extreme mental stimulation causes physical illness. 2. Having influence upon the function of internal organs, excessive Seven Emotion causes obesity. Since it hinders normal flow of Gangi(肝氣), Seven Emotion disturbs healthy function of Bi-Wi(脾胃) and normal fluctuation of Qi. Consequently, obesity is resulted from the accumulation of fat since normal metabolism of body is disrupted. 3. In Seven Emotion-Anger(怒), Joy(喜), Anxiety(憂), Thought(思), Sorrow(悲), Fear(恐), Surprise(驚)-give rise to Gan-bi-bul-wha(肝脾不和), Sim-hi-yang-huh(心脾兩虛), Bi-qi-huh(碑氣虛), Dam-sup-jeo-po(痰濕沮胞) and Wi-wha-sang-youm(胃火上炎) in type of symptom in obesity and therefore, cause obesity.

Insect-healing program is designed for farm use, and this study attempted to scientifically investigate its healing effect based on application methods. The insects used in the program are Trypoxylus dichotomus, Papilio xuthus, and Bombyx mori. Insect-healing program was conducted on 61 adults of over 50 years old and at two different farms for 12 weeks. Stress, anxiety, insomnia, and cognitive function were measured through pre- and post-surveys. Result of the analysis showed that cognitive function changed positively in direct experienced group (those that encountered live insects) and indirect experience group (those that encountered insects only through photos and videos). However, psychological variables such as stress and anxiety decreased and sleep time increased significantly only in the direct experienced group. These results demonstrate that an agro-healing program that involve the use of insect must include activities such as raising and taking care of live insect to achieve positive psychological healing effects.
Background: Individuals with forward head posture (FHP) have neck pain. To correct the FHP, a posture correction band is commonly used. However, we do not know the posture correction band influenced the pulmonary function in individuals with FHP. Objects: This study aimed to elucidate the effects of the posture correction band on the pulmonary function in young adults with neck pain and FHP and to monitor how the pulmonary function changed over time. Methods: Twenty subjects with chronic neck pain and forward head posture were recruited. Subjects performed pulmonary function test four times: before, immediately, and 2 hours after wearing the postural band, and immediately after undressing the postural band. Vital capacity (VC), forced vital capacity (FVC), peak expiratory flow (PEF), and forced expiratory volume at one second (FEV1) were measured. The modified Borg dyspnea scale was used to measure each subject's responses to the posture correction band. The mixed-effect linear regression was used to the effect of the posture correction band over time. Results: There were no significant differences in VC, FVC, PEF, FEV1 values over time (p > 0.05), although all values slightly decreased after applying posture correction band. However, the score of the modified Borg scale significantly changed after wearing the postural bands (p < 0.05), indicating the subject felt discomfort with posture correction band during breathing. Conclusion: Because the posture correction band did not change the pulmonary function over time, but it induces psychological discomforts during breathing in people with FHP. Therefore, this posture correction band can be used for FHP realignment after discussion with the subjects.
This study was done to determine the effect of music therapy on stress and quality of life in patients undergoing hemodialysis. The research design was a nonequivalent control group pre -post test design. The subjects consisted of 21 patients who received hemodialysis in two hospitals located in Kwang Ju. The fourteen receiving treatment in one hospital were assigned to the experimental group and the seven in the other hospital to the control group. Data were gathered from December 14, 1992 to January 16, 1993 through questionnaires and physiological measurement. Data were analyzed by the SAS package using frequency, t-test, paired t-test and Pearson Prod uct - Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results of this study are summarized as follows ; 1. There were no significant differences between the two groups on stress scores and quality of life scores before the treatment. 2. The mean score on the psychological stress scale for the patients undergoing hemodialysis was 2.48 out of a maximum mean score of four, the items with high stress scores were “feeling of weakness and annoyed by everything”, “limitation of food”, “limitation of fluid”, “change in skin color” in that order. The psychological category showed the highest stress score followed by developmental, scoioeconomic and physiological stress categories in that order. 3. In the experimental group, post - test diastolic blood pressure decerased significantly(t=3.24, p=0.0064), but in the control group pre and post - test diastolic blood pressure were not different. 4. There was no difference between the two groups on the pre and post -test psychological stress scores or the depression scores. 5. The mean score of quality of life for patients undergoing hemodialysis was 2.75 out of a maxi-mum mean score of five. The category of ‘emtional state’ showed the highest score followed by ‘self - esteem’, ‘physical state and function’, ‘economic life’, ‘relationship with neighbors’ and ‘family relationship’ categories in that order. There was no significant difference in the pre and post - test quality of life scores between the two groups. 6. Hypothesis 1 that patients undergoing hemodialysis who received music therapy would have less stress than patients undergoing hemodialysis who did not receive music therapy is divided into two sub - hypotheses. 1) The first sub-hypothesis that patients undergoing hemodialysis who received music therapy would have less physiological stress than patients undergoing hemodialysis who did not receive music therapy was partly supported. Among three physiological stress indices (pulse, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure), only diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly after the treatment in the experimental group. 2) The second sub-hypothesis that patients undergoing hemodialysis who received music therapy would have less psychological stress than patients undergoing hemodialysis who did not receive music therapy was not supported. Psychological stress score and depression score were not significantly different before and after the treatment. 7. Hypothesis 2 that patients undergoing hemodialysis who received music therapy would have a higher quality of life score than patients undergoing. hemodialysis who did not received music therapy was not supported. There were no significant changes in the quality of life scores before and after the treatment.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship and degree of agreement between the six types of Geometry Psychological Assessment (GEOPIA) and four functions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality test, and to investigate the appropriate level of vocational aptitude commonly recommended by each tool. A total of 377 adult men and women from Korea, aged between 19 and 70 years, were tested using GEOPIA and the MBTI. Cronbach's alpha was calculated to verify the validity and reliability of the measuring tools, and the mean and standard deviation of each variable were calculated. Also, a cross-sectional analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between GEOPIA and the MBTI. The results showed that Round/Triangle (RT) types, Round/Box (RB) types, Triangle/Box (TB) types and Box/Curve (BC) types among the GEOPIA personality types are highly related to MBTI's Sensing/Thinking (ST) types. GEOPIA RC types were related to Intuition/Feeling (NF) and Sensing/Feeling (SF) types, and TC types were highly related to Intuition/Thinking (NT) types. Based on the common characteristics of the two tests, the findings suggest appropriate levels of vocational aptitude. Through this research, it was confirmed that GEOPIA (a Korean psychology and personality test) can be used in counseling, coaching, and education, and above all, is a reliable tool for vocational psychological assessment to search for career aptitude.
