A Study on Watermark Technique for Copyright Protection of Digital Images (디지털 영상물의 저작권 보호를 위한 워터마크 기술에 관한 연구)

  • Digital watermarking is the technique which embeds the invisible signal into multimedia data such as audio, video, images, for copyright protection, including owner identification and copy control information. In this paper, a new watermark detection algorithm by local masking cross covariance between watermarked signal and pseudo noise signal is proposed. The proposed algorithm enhances the detection probability for embedding information. Since reducing detection errors for the weak embedding signals, the algorithm improves the image quality and robusts against illegal attack to delete the embedding information and data compression applications such as JPEG and MPEGs.

  • 키보드 정보가 노출되는 취약점이 발견되면서 키보드를 통하여 아이디 및 비밀번호를 입력하는 인증의 보안성 결여 문제가 대두되었다. 이를 대응하기 위하여 마우스를 통하여 비밀번호를 입력하는 이미지 기반 인증이 등장하였으며, 이 인증방식은 인터넷 뱅킹 및 결제 서비스와 같이 중요도가 높은 서비스에 도입되어 사용자가 입력하는 비밀번호를 안전하게 보호한다. 하지만 키보드와 동일하게 사용자가 입력하는 마우스 데이터가 노출되는 취약점이 발견되고 있으며, 본 논문에서는 WM_INPUT 메시지를 활용하여 노출되는 마우스 데이터를 보호하는 방안을 제시한다. 제시하는 방안은 WM_INPUT 메시지를 활용하는 공격을 효과적으로 방지하며, 이를 통하여 이미지 기반 인증방식의 안전성을 강화할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Development of DC interruption technology is being studied actively for enhanced DC grid reliability and stability. In this study, coil type superconductor DC circuit breaker was proposed as DC interruption. It is integration technology that combined current-limiting technique using superconductor and cut-off technique using mechanical DC circuit breaker. Superconductor was applied to the coil type. In simulation, Mayr arc model was applied to realize the arc characteristic in the mechanical DC circuit breaker. PSCAD/EMTDC had used to model and perform the simulation. To find out the protection range of coil type superconductor DCCB, the working operation have analyzed based on the rated voltage of DCCB. The results confirmed that, according to apply the limiting device, the protection range was increased in twice. Therefore, the probability of failure of interruption has lowered significantly.

Immune Protection Factor of Sunscreens in Humans is Dependent on Protection from UVA and Cannot be Predicted from the Sun Protection Factor

  • Sunscreens have been advocated as an important means of preventing skin cancer. UV-induced immunosuppression is important for skin cancer development, yet the effectiveness of sunscreens in protecting the human immune system from UV radiation is unclear. The only currently accepted method of sunscreen rating is the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) based on prevention of erythema. We developed an in vivo non-invasive method for evaluating protection of the human immune system from UV radiation based on recall contact sensitivity to nickel, a common allergen. Using this system we showed that broad-spectrum sunscreens provide greater protection to the immune system than sunscreens which protect from UVB only. UVA was found to be immunosuppressive. We developed this technique to enable the study of solar simulated UV radiation dose responses and determined Immune Protection Factors (IPFs) for six commercially available sunscreens based on limits of protection from the dose response data. We found that the IPF did not correlate with the SPF and that protection from erythema therefore cannot be used to predict protection of the immune system. However, IPF was significantly correlated to the UVA protective capability of the sunscreens, indicating that sunscreen protection from UVA is important for prevention of immunosuppression. We recommend that sunscreens should be rated against their immune protective capability to provide a better indication of their ability to protect against skin cancer.

  • This investigation presents reviews of many research results on lightning damage to wind turbines and lightning protection strategies from IEC Standard, Europe, USA, Japan and Korea. There have been few studies on lightning protection of wind turbines in Korea, while various investigations have been performed in the other countries. It is necessary to apply some good lightning protection strategies of IEC Standard and the other countries to Korea. Those are as follows: The guideline for lightning protection of wind turbines should be established based on IEC Standards. It needs to be carried out both development of software and experimental studies for understanding the types of lightning damage to wind turbines and compiling the database. In order to minimize the lightning damage to wind turbines, it is a key factor for wind farm owners and researchers to provide the information about the damage cases and wind farm operation technique.

  • The offshore structures exposed to harsh corrosive such as the marine environment is essential for the quality management technique throughout the life cycle of initial design, construction and operation. Also, it should satisfy the design life and ensure the safety of the substructure with optimization of design process. This study focused on optimization of design condition for corrosion protection of wind turbine structure and computational analyzing was performed to evaluate the performance of corrosion protection with utilizing practical experimental data. We expect this analytical study contribute to improve the corrosion maintenance stability and economical efficiency of designing wind turbine structures. As a result, the design of cathodic protection system using sacrificial anodes required accurate identification of current density in order to meet the long term design life, which can be seen that a change of structure surface's coating breakdown factor is one of the key influencing factors.

  • The large AC generator fault may lead to large impacts or perturbations in power system. The generator protection control systems in Korea have been imported and operated through a turn-key from overseas entirely. Therefore a study of the generator protection field has in urgent need for a stable operation of the imported goods. In present, the algorithm using the current ratio differential relaying based DFT for stator winding protection or a fault detection had been applied that of internal fault protection of a generator. the DFT used for the analysis of transient state signal conventionally had defects losing a time information in the course of transforming a target signal to frequency domain. In this paper, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was applied a fault detection of the generator being superior to a transient state signal analysis and being easy to real time realization. The fault signals after executing a terminal fault modeling collect using a MATLAB package, and calculate the wavelet coefficients through the process of a muiti-level decomposition (MLD). The proposed algorithm for a fault detection using the Daubechies WT (wavelet transform) was executed with a C language and the commend line function for the real time realization after analyzing MATLAB's graphical interface. The advanced technique had improved faster a speed of fault discrimination than a conventional DFR based on DFT.

Investigation of Design Methodology for Impressed Current Cathodic Protection Optimum System

  • In this paper, physical scale modeling was employed to identify the configurations of ICCP system and the electric field signatures. Computational boundary element modeling technique has been used to simulate the performance of the CP system and to predict the associated electric fields signatures. The optimization methods combined with the computer models and physical scale modeling will be presented here, which enable the optimum system design to be achieved both in terms of the location and current output of the anode but also in the location of reference electrodes for impressed current cathodic protection(ICCP) systems. The combined methodology was utilized to determine optimal placement of ICCP components (anodes and reference electrodes) and to evaluate performance of ICCP system for the 2%, 10% and 14% wetted hull coatings loss. The objective is to design the system to minimise the electric field while at the same time provide adequate protection for the ship. The results show that experimental scale modeling and computational modeling techniques can be used in concert to design an optimum ICCP system and to provide information for quickly analysis of the system and its surrounding environment.

  • This paper proposes a synchronous generator protection algorithm using Discrete Wavelet Transform for detection of fault currents. The proposed technique is implemented by using the C language and the Wavemenu of MATLAB Toolbox, and consists of normal state and internal fault state. The effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by MATLAB simulation package for synchronous generator, which collects the balanced and unbalanced fault currents through simulation.

  • High energy radiation therapy using accelerator or radioioisotope teletherapy unit is now one of the most important modality in the field dealing with human malignant tumor. It's successful technology overcomes incurable disease to change into curable disease not only by the improvement of clinical technique but also by the development of radiation physics and biology. The author presented the principles of radiation therapy by means of basic knowledge of medicine. physics and biology, described the various ways to improve the result of radiation therapy, and reviewed recent status of radiotherapy field in Korea.
