Investigation of Surface Morphology for Nylon 4,6 Thin Film by Molecular Layer Deposition

  • We fabricated the Polyamide 4,6 (PA46) thin film using Adipoyl chloride and 1,4-butadiamine. PA46 film was grown at $70^{\circ}C$ by Molecular Layer Deposition (MLD) method. MLD is sequential and self-terminating fabrication method for organic thin film. The growth rate of PA46 is $3.5{\acute{\AA}}$ cycle. The thickness of PA46 film was measured by Ellipsometer. Surface morphology of this film was investigated by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and roughness is directly proportional to number of growing cycles.

A Study on the Conditional Survival Function with Random Censored Data

  • In the analysis of cancer data, it is important to make inferences of survival function and to assess the effects of covariates. Cox's proportional hazard model(PHM) and Beran's nonparametric method are generally used to estimate the survival function with covariates. We adjusted the incomplete survival time using the Buckley and James's(1979) pseudo random variables, and then proposed the estimator for the conditional survival function. Also, we carried out the simulation studies to compare the performances of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a robust nonlinear autopilot design method based on dynamic inversion and PI(Proportional-Integral) control law. The new controller structure which is different from previous work is composed of classical linear PI control law and nonlinear fast dynamic inversion. A pitch axis model of highly maneuverable missiles and a linearized model for designing Pl controller are presented. The performance of proposed method is illustrated via nonlinear simulations including aerodynamic uncertainties and actuator dynamics.

  • Drift design using resizing techniques can be a very practical method in drift design of high-rise buildings since it cannot require sensitivity analysis and structural re-analysis. Resizing techniques has used the cross sectional areas as design variable and supposed that displacement participation factors are inversely proportional to structural weights. Efficiency of resizing techniques based on displacement participation factors may depend on proper selection of sectional properties as design variables. In this study, two different drift design methods with the different sectional properties as design variables are presented and applied to a 20-story structure.

  • The blur amount of an image changes proportional to scene depth. Depth from Defocus (DFD) is an approach in which a depth map can be obtained using blur amount calculation. In this paper, a novel DFD method is proposed in which depth is measured using an infocused and a defocused image. Subbaro's algorithm is used as a preliminary depth estimation method and edge blur estimation is provided to overcome drawbacks in edge.

  • This paper proposes a new control strategy to eliminate the harmonic components of stator current for stand-alone DFIG system feeding non-linear loads. In this method, the LSC operates as an active filter which is controlled by employing a proportional-integral and a resonant controller. And also, the stator current is used as the feedback signal for the compensator instead of the load current, so that the additional current sensor at the load side can be removed. The experiment is verified to validate the effectiveness of the proposed compensating method.

  • In this paper, we present a method for smartphone users to have a better user experience when playing 3D mobile games using the gyro sensor. We designed the rotation of the virtual camera in the game world to be proportional to the real-world's rotation. We have also made the sensitivity configuration possible for users to manipulate.

Analysis of Code Design Evaluation Methods According to Input/Output Information Conditions (입출력 정보 조건에 따른 코드 설계 평가 방법 분석)

  • In order to improve the SW convergence capabilities of university undergraduate students, methods to evaluate undergraduate students' code design capabilities should be researched along with the development of related courses. In previous studies, there were qualitative evaluation methods and quantitative relative evaluation methods for code results. In the quantitative relative evaluation method, the number of problem decomposition depth, number of function reuses, and number of functions were measured and evaluated. In this study, an evaluation method that was not presented in previous studies was proposed using the problem of presenting the number of input and output information types when designing code. The evaluation problems proposed in this paper applied up to three types of input information and three types of output information. Through this, five code design evaluation questions were presented and a method to quantitatively calculate code design scores was proposed. Codes from 100 student respondents were collected and analyzed through courses that applied the proposed evaluation method. Through result analysis, the number of problem decomposition depths was proportional to the number of types of input information, the number of function reuses was proportional to the number of types of output information, and the number of functions showed a correlation that was proportional to the total number of types of input and output information. Lastly, by analyzing the distribution of evaluation scores of 100 respondents, we demonstrated that the code design evaluation method according to the five input/output information condition evaluation problems is effective.

  • In this paper, a method of on-line PI gain-tuninng is proposed for the speed control of brushless D.C. motor by investigating the pattern of input and output without estimating parameter. Proportional gain is tuned in the process to obtain a fast speed response by supplying the maximum constant input. And integral gain is appropriately tuned in the process of proportional control so that the response may be stably converged and the overshoot may be prevented. Therefore because both control and gain-tuning are executed concurrently, additional works that estimate parameters and so on aren't required in the proposed method. In the proposed method, both fast-response and overshoot problem are well solved, and it is more useful and convenient than existing auto-tuning methods in the speed control of D.C. motor. It is illustrated by simulations and experimental results that the proposed method is useful and stable.

Factors Influencing Commuting Time to Work for the Simple Linkage Travel (단순연계 출근통행시간에 미치는 요인분석)

  • This study investigates the factor that influences commuting time to work when individuals allocate their time for different types of activities. The commuting time is an important indicator for an individual to determine the residence and choose the means of transportation. The analysis uses the data collected from people who live in Seoul metropolitan area including Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, and commute to work and making the simple linkage travel (home-work-home) within the area. For the analysis, the Cox hazard proportional methodology was adopted. The method is known to be well applied without assuming any distribution in case of the dependent variable being continuous. For the covariate, the interaction effect between the space variable of the work place and the variable of transportation has been also included in the model. The commuting time to work has been estimated for both 1) the whole metropolitan area and 2) the separate regions i.e., Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi-Do. The result reveals that characteristic variables related to individual, household and travel properties influence the mode of transportation and the time allocated for commuting to work (p<0.01). This study also demonstrates the usefulness of the Cox hazard proportional model. The data used in this study is the actual household travel data surveyed in 2006 in the metropolitan area, and analyzing the survey data in 2010 is currently in progress. Comparison of the two survey data sets seeking any behavioral change is suggested for the future study.
