  • In this paper we introduce the notions of expansive homeomorphism and its properties, and study the relation between countable compacta and ordinal numbers. Our results extend and improve those of T.Kimura and others.

An Experimental Study of Metal Polishes Applied on Surface Cleaning of Silver Metal Archival Objects (은제 행정박물의 표면 클리닝에 적용되는 금속광택제 실험연구)

  • This study, by selecting 3 kinds(Polish T, H, C) of metal polish being frequently used for silver archival objects treatment at present, a polish having excellent conservative property that minimizes damage of silver surface while effectively removing its yellow discolored layer by each using tool was intended to be discovered by comparing performance of tarnish inhibitor, corrosion inhibitor contained in each polish. As a result of analysis, it was confirmed that specimen that was cleaned with cotton swab and lint-free wipe by using Polish C provides not only uniformed surface expression and minimum damage but also removal function of corrosion layer. In addition, even though tarnish inhibition film should be formed after polish treatment, discolored phenomenon is unable to be prevented but among those polishes, Polish C was represented to be most stable against UV and yellowing and it showed relatively better features than that of Polish H and T in terms of hydrophobic, dispersive property. Through this, it is confirmed that Polish C would show the most excellent performance among polishes being used for conserving silver archival objects.

Preparation and Mechanical Properties of Nanocomposite of Cellulose Diacetate/Montmorillonite (셀룰로오스 디아세테이트/몬모릴로나이트 나노복합체의 제조 및 기계적 물성)

  • Cellulose diacetate (CDA) nanocomposite films were prepared by using various plasticizer and montmorillonite nanofiller in methylene chloride/ethanol (9:1 w/w) mixed solution. The thermal property (T$_{g}$) of prepared CDA films was observed by DSC and T$_{g}$ of the films was decreased with the increase in the plasticizer content. The degree of dispersion of MMT in the CDA film was observed by XRD and mechanical property of CDA film was measured by tensile strength and Young's modulus. When the plasticizer was added into the CDA film upto 30 wt%, the Young's modulus of film was decreased from 1930 MPa to 1131 MPa but was increased from 1731 MPa to 2272 MPa when the MMT was added into the film upto 7 wt%. The mechanical properties of CDA films were decreased by addition of plasticizer but strengthened by the incorporation of MMT.

Thiazole Type Accelerator Effects on Silane/Silica Filled Natural Rubber Compound upon Vulcanization and Mechanical Properties (Thiazole계 가황촉진제가 실란/실리카 충전 천연고무 컴파운드의 가황 거동 및 기계적 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • A thiazole type accelerator MBT (2-mercapto benzothiazole) was added into silica filled natural rubber (NR) compound with various concentrations (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 phr). The effects of MBT on the cure rate, mechanical property, degree of rubber-filler interaction (${\alpha}_F$), crosslinking density, and viscoelastic property ($tan{\delta}$) were investigated. As accelerator concentration increased, the $t_{s2}$ and $t_{90}$ decreased and the crosslinking density and modulus at 300% elongation increased. The tensile strength and elongation increased up to 3 phr and no further increased at 4 phr. The $tan{\delta}$ value measured at room temperature was higher than that of the $70^{\circ}C$. The ${\alpha}_F$ value was not affected by the addition of MBT. The mechanisms for the vulcanization rate were reviewed.

The Improvement of Laying Productivity and Egg Quality according to Providing Germinated and Fermented Soybean for a Feed Additive

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of laying productivity and egg quality according to providing germinated and fermented soybean (GFS) as feed additive. Among the strain, we selected Monascus purpureus KCCM 12002 so that inoculated in soybean and fermented for 48 h at $20^{\circ}C$. A total of two-hundred forty 70-wk-old Hy-Line Brown layers were divided into four groups (4 treatment${\times}$6 replication${\times}$10 birds each) and fed diets containing 0 (as control) (T1), 0.5% (T2), 1.0% (T3) or 2.0% GFS (T4) for 6 wk. The laying productivity, egg quality and blood property in the egg yolk were experimented. There were no significant differences in the laying productivity, relative liver and spleen weights, egg yolk color and eggshell strength among another groups. The eggshell color, eggshell thickness and haugh unit significantly increased in the GFS-supplemented group (p<0.05) compared to control. However, no significant differences were observed in the blood property after supplementation. The amount of lactic acid bacteria present during storage increased by providing of GFS (p<0.05) compare to control group. Our study results suggested that GFS can be used as a favorable feed additive and feedstuff for the productivity of high quality eggs and promoted relative industry.

Development of a High-Resolution Encoder System Using Dual Optical Encoders (이중 광학식 회전 엔코더 구조를 이용한 고정밀도 엔코더 시스템 개발)

  • An optical rotary encoder is easy to implement for automatic control applications. In particular, the output of the encoder has a digital form pulse, which is also easy to be connected to a popular digital controller. By using the encoder, there are various angular velocity detecting methods, M-, T-, and M/T-method. Each of them has a property of its own. They have common limitation that the angular velocity detection period is strongly subject to the destination velocity magnitude in case of ultimate low range. They have ultimate long detection period or cannot even detect angular velocity at near zero velocity. This paper proposes a dual encoder system with two encoders of normal resolution. The dual encoder system is able to keep detection period moderately at near zero velocity and even detects zero velocity within nominal period. It is useful for detecting velocity in case of changing rotational direction at which there occurs zero velocity. In this paper, various experimental results are shown for the dual encoder system validity.
