  • Non-absorbable substances in foods, for instance dietary fiber had been previously known as a non-nutritive part of foods. Recently , such a category has been gradually changed to as one of nutrients, As a main reason, dietary fibers includes many poly-or oligo-saccharides, which as resistant to alimentary hydrolyzing enzyme, However, parts of them are fermented by intestinal micro-organism to produce short chain fatty acids and so on. They are absorbed and utilized by human being. Now, it may be naturally accepted that dietary fiber is a kind of nutrients. Dietary fiber exerts many useful functions on body. They are classified into three large function , physicochemical function, physiological function and biological function. The last function of dietary fiber will be presented in the symphosium. Dietary fiber has several kinds of nutritional properties. One is energy source. Short chain fatty acids(SCFA) are oxidized and produced energy in body. Dietary fiber has not high energy, but not zero kilocalories. Another one is to be a constitutional component of higher animals' tissue. Last but most important one is physiological functions of dietary fiber.

  • We investigated microhardness, friction, wear and wettability of polyimide for finding out the influence of ion implantation on surface properties. For increasing doses microhardness increased. A reduction of the friction coefficient was most cases correlated with a reduction of wear. The contact angles of water for $B^+$, $N^+$ implanted polyimide decreased from $76^{\circ}$ to zero, as the fluences increased energy of 50, 200 keV.

  • This paper is concerned with an energy optimization for the walking of IWR biped robot. The movement of balancing joints are determined by ZMP(Zero Moment Point) and dynamic properties caused by motion of a swing leg. Therefore, ZMP positions have an important role in walking and guarnateeing the stability of a robot. A genetic algorithm is utilized for solving this problem and finding ZMP with a minimum energy at each sampling time during the walk. In this study, we performed an energy optimization with desired ZMP trajectories and motion of balancing joints.

  • We analyzed conditions for fabricating zero-bias polymer-stabilized liquid crystal (PSLC) pi cells. A high curing voltage and a very low curing intensity are effective in fabricating the cell with a high bright state, a low dark state and therefore a steep T-V curve. However, the response time of the cell is slow. Finally, a dual-frequency PSLC pi cell with fast response time is developed. The obtained result reveals that the dual-frequency PSLC pi cell has a fast response of under 1ms.

  • In this paper, a hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory is developed for free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) sandwich beams. The theory account for higher-order variation of transverse shear strain through the depth of the beam and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. The material properties of the functionally graded sandwich beam are assumed to vary according to power law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic material. Based on the present refined beam theory, the equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Navier type solution method was used to obtain frequencies. Illustrative examples are given to show the effects of varying gradients and thickness to length ratios on free vibration of functionally graded sandwich beams.

  • The 200 nm thick-NiCr films grew on $SiO_2$/Si substrates at various deposition temperatures by a dc magnetron co-sputtering technique were characterized for the variation of film texture. The resistivity of the films decreases with increasing deposition temperature and temperature coefficient of electrical resistance (TCR) varies from negative value to a positive one with increasing deposition temperature. The NiCr films deposited at $300^{\circ}C$ exhibit 4 ppm/K being near zero TCR, resulting in TCR suitable for $\pi$-type attenuator applications.

  • This paper presents a constructing theory of variable arithmetic operation systems for computing multiplications and multiplicative inverse in GF(2**m) based on a modulo operation of degree on elements in Galois fields. The proposed multiplier is composed of a zero element control part, input element conversion part, inversion circuit, and output element conversion part. These systems can reduce reasonable circuit areas due to the common use of input/output element converison parts, and the PLA and module structure provice a variable property capable of convertible uses as arithmetic operation systems over different finite fields. This type of designs gives simple, regular, expandable, and concurrent properties suitable for VLSI implementation. Expecially, the multiplicative inverse circuit proposed here is expected to offer a characteristics of the high operation speed than conventional method.

  • Shape controlled synthesis of inorganic nanocrystals is one of the important issues in materials chemistry due to their novel shape dependent properties. Although various shapes of nanocrystals have been developed, a systematic account on the shape control of these nanocrystals still remains an important subject in materials chemistry. In this article, we will overview the recent developments in the geometrical shape evolution of semiconductor and metal oxide nanocrystals obtained by nonhydrolytic synthetic methods. Many structurally unprecedented motifs have appeared as zero-dimesional (D) polyhedrons, one-D rods and wires, two-D plates and prisms, and other advanced shapes such as branched rods, stars, and inorganic dendrites. Important parameters which determine the geometrical shapes of nanocrystals are also illustrated. In addition, as a possible application of such nanocrystals for biomedical sciences, we further describe their utilizations for cancer diagnosis through nanocrystal-assisted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

  • This study was undertaken to determine tensile properties and low-cycle fatigue behavior of 0.6%C high carbon steel used of structural purposes at temperatures up to 500.deg.C. In the low-cycle fatigue test the upper limit was decided by elongation(i.e. the total strain range), while the lower limit was defined by the load (i.e. zero load). The following results were obtained. Both, the ultimate tensile strength and low-cycle fatigue resistance attain the maximum values near 250.deg.C. Above this temperature the values decrease rapidly as the temperature increases. The low-cycle fatigue resistance decreases whenever there is an increase of the total strain range. Because the hardness of cycle fatigued specimen correlates cyclic hardening and cyclic softening, therefore the hardness of cycle fatigued specimen is smaller than that of the nonfatigued specimen at room temperature and 500.deg.C but much larger than the hardness of the nonfatigued specimen near 250.deg.C.

  • We continue the study of McCoy condition to analyze zero-dividing polynomials for the constant annihilators in the ideals generated by the coefficients. In the process we introduce the concept of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings, extending known results related to McCoy condition. It is shown that the class of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings contains both strongly McCoy rings whose non-regular polynomials are nilpotent and 2-primal rings. We also investigate relations between the ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy property and other standard ring theoretic properties. Moreover we extend the class of ideal-${\pi}$-McCoy rings by examining various sorts of ordinary ring extensions.
