A rail heating system can be classified as the method which uses a natural phenomena change in climate condition and the method which uses electric energy. The former uses a the sunshine and wind for frozen rail or snow. On the other hand, and the latter uses the electric energy. In this paper, to set up an effective thaw system in railway facilities using the electric energy, the component for thaw equipments, the installing method, the method for temperature regulation, and the maintenance technique will be analyzed and compared, which results in an introduction of an effective and economic scheme for respective railway systems. Although the portion of thaw system is not quite large in the entire railway facilities, a significant energy saving and cost reduction can be expected if the proper system is employed.

This paper describes the design and test of an on-line non-invasive network performance monitor (hardware portion) for the SPAX parallel computer. The SPAX parallel computer supports up to 256 intel P6 processors with 4 P6 processors constituting a processign node. The nodes are interconnected with a dual two-level crossbar network calle dXcent-net. Since the performance of the SPAX parallel computer is highly dependent on the proper and efficient operation of the network, an on-line non-invasive network performance monitor (with hardware components) has been developed to aid in the monitoring and tunign of the Xcent-net. Successful testing of a prototype node monitor board and PC interface system shows that our monitor design provides a low-cost practical solution to this problem.
Two kinds of clinker liquid melts, one containing 2.0% of $K_2O$ and the other without $K_2O$, were prepared with the similar composition as those developed during the firing of portland cement clinker. One portion of melt was quenched and found to consist of glass together with traces of proto-$C_3A$, and the other portion was allowed to cool spontaneously to crystallize $C_3A$ and calciumferrite well. The product obtained by crystallization of the melt without $K_2O$showed cubic $C_3A$, while orthorhombic $C_3A$ was formed from the crystallized product containing $K_2O$. Studies on the hydration behavior of the samples made from the melts with 30% of gypsum were carried out for 24 hours by observation at regular intervals ettringite, monosulphate hydrates and gypsum which were formed or consumed during hydration. The samples without $K_2O$ in the melts were hydrated wth addition of proper amount of $K_2SO_4$ in the water for hydration. Hydration behavior of glassified $C_3A$ showed that it has low reactivity relative to crystallized $C_3A$, and also hydration reactivity of orthorhombic $C_3A$ was much lower than that of cubic $C_3A$ in 60 minutes. Potassium sulphate in the solution reduced the hydration reactivity of $C_3A$ . Evolution peaks of hydration heat examined by twin-type conduction micro-calorimeter showed that glassified $C_3A$ without $K_2O$ had secondary peak after 9 hours and $C_3A$ containing $K_2O$ after 12 hours. When crystallized $C_3A$ was hydrated, initial peaks of hydration heat were considerably high and there was no secondary peak for cubic $C_3A$ but the secondary peak of orthorhombic $C_3A$ appeared after 4 hours.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate histologically the resorption and tissue response of various resorbable collagen membranes used for guided tissue regeneration and guided bone regeneration, using a subcutaneous model on the dorsal surface of the rat. In this study, 10 Sprague-Dawley male rats (mean BW 150gm) were used and the commercially available materials included acellular dermal matrix allograft, porcine collagen membrane, freeze-dried bovine dura mater. Animals were sacrificed at 2,6 and 8 weeks after implantation of various resorbable collagen membranes. Specimens were prepared with Hematoxylin-Eosin stain for light microscopic evaluation. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Resorption : Inner portion of porcine collagen membrane was resorbed a lot at 6 weeks, but its function was being kept for infiltration of another tissues were not observed. Freeze-dried bovine dura mater and acellular dermal allograft were rarely resorbed and kept their structure of outer portion for 8 weeks. 2. Inflammatory reactions : Inflammatory reaction was so mild and foreign body reaction didn't happen in all of resorbable collagen membranes, which showed their biocompatibility. 3. In all of resorbable collagen membranes, multinuclcated giant cells by foreign body reactions were not observed. Barrier membranes have to maintain their function for 4-6 weeks in guided tissue regeneration and at least 8 weeks in guided bone regeneration. According to present study, we can find all of the resorbable collagen membranes kept their function and structure for 8 weeks and were rarely resorbed. Foreign body reaction didn't happen and inflammatory reaction was so mild histologically. Therefore, all of collagen membranes used in this experiment were considered proper resorbable membranes for guided tissue regeneration and guided bone regeneration.
Muna teakwood, especially from old stands, has been popular as raw material for timber industries in Indonesia for the past ten decades. Due to the scarcity of this wood, superior-grown seedlings of Muna teakwood have been developed and widely planted. Since there is no information on its characteristics, therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate wood characteristics of the 8-year-old superior-grown teak from Muna Island to ensure their proper utilization as raw material for wooden furniture. Wood discs and boards from basal area of three different trees were used as the samples. Macroscopic and microscopic anatomical characteristics were observed following the IAWA's list, while their physical-mechanical properties were measured following British Standard 373-57. Results showed that anatomical characteristics of this wood sample are similar to regular teakwood, but its heartwood portion is higher. Differences among trees are found in regards to wood texture, growth ring width, as well as early and latewood portion. The green moisture content was lower than that of fast-growing teak of a similar age. The wood is more stable than the old teakwood, but its specific gravity is lower. In general, mechanical properties of this wood were higher than those of the regular fast-growing teakwood, but lower than the old one. Based on its specific gravity, this superior Muna teakwood was categorized as a Strength Class of III. The wood is suitable enough for wooden furniture manufacturing.
This paper investigated the conceptual schemes four children constructed as they related division number sentences to various types of fraction: Proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers in both contextual and abstract symbolic forms. Methods followed those of the constructivist teaching experiment. Four fifth-grade students from an inner city school in the southwest United States were interviewed eight times: Pre-test clinical interview, six teaching / semi-structured interviews, and a final post-test clinical interview. Results showed that for equal sharing situations, children conceptualized division in two ways: For mixed numbers, division generated a whole number portion of quotient and a fractional portion of quotient. This provided the conceptual basis to see improper fractions as quotients. For proper fractions, they tended to see the quotient as an instance of the multiplicative structure: $a{\times}b=c$ ; $a{\div}c=\frac{1}{b}$ ; $b{\div}c=\frac{1}{a}$. Results suggest that first, facility in recall of multiplication and division fact families and understanding the multiplicative structure must be emphasized before learning fraction division. Second, to facilitate understanding of the multiplicative structure children must be fluent in representing division in the form of number sentences for equal sharing word problems. If not, their reliance on long division hampers their use of syntax and their understanding of divisor and dividend and their relation to the concepts of numerator and denominator.

Purpose: We investigated the quantitative evaluation of PET/CT images for evaluation after treatment in the treatment of liver metastasis of cancer with $^{90}YSIR$-Sphere. Materials and Methods: Confirmed the correlation between the measured counts was expressed by setting a region of interest from the image and a measure of the dose calibrator to see a correlation diagram of an image in a PET of $^{90}Y$. A portion uptake coefficients between PET images were acquired for 20 minutes LIST mode in 15 patients treated for liver metastasis of cancer using $^{90}Y$ SIR-Spheres high, intermediate portion, a lower portion, three measuring the coefficient of the region of interest is divided into parts, we studied the conditions for proper image acquisition. Results: Coefficient of sites that set the region of interest of the PET image and the measured counts of $^{90}Yappears$ that there is a correlation diagram statistically, ($R^2=0.956$), correlation diagram from the PET image of $^{90}Yis$, PET coefficient the coefficients of all regions of interest were increased in proportion to the image acquisition time, partial ROI coefficients of the PET image is higher about 10 minutes on average, about 14 minutes on average, the central portion is lower part 19 minute average in, confirmed the equilibrium of the standard deviation. Conclusion: Using the isotope $^{90}Y$, it is suitable to obtain a PET image, to obtain the time of proper image, the evaluation of PET/CT images, using the $^{90}Y$ SIR-Spheres and that in the treatment of liver metastases of cancer, it is useful for assessing treatment.
Objective : Although unilateral transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) is widely used because of its benefits, it does have some technical limitations. Removal of disk material and endplate cartilage is difficult, but essential, for proper fusion in unilateral surgery, leading to debate regarding the surgery's limitations in removing the disk material on the contralateral side. Therefore, authors have conducted a randomized, comparative cadaver study in order to evaluate the efficiency of the surgery when using conventional instruments in the preparation of the disk space and when using the recently developed high-pressure water jet system, SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL. Methods : Two spine surgeons performed diskectomies and disk preparations for TLIF in 20 lumbar disks. All cadaver/surgeon/level allocations for preparation using the SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL (HydroCision Inc., Boston, MA, USA) or conventional tools were randomized. All assessments were performed by an independent spine surgeon who was unaware of the randomizations. The authors measured the areas (cm2) and calculated the proportion (%) of the disk surfaces. The duration of the disk preparation and number of instrument insertions and withdrawals required to complete the disk preparation were recorded for all procedures. Results : The proportion of the area of removed disk tissue versus that of potentially removable disk tissue, the proportion of the area of removed endplate cartilage, and the area of removed disk tissue in the contralateral posterior portion showed 74.5 ${\pm}$ 17.2%, 18.5 ${\pm}$ 12.03%, and 67.55 ${\pm}$ 16.10%, respectively, when the SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL was used, and 52.6 ${\pm}$ 16.9%, 22.8 ${\pm}$ 17.84%, and 51.64 ${\pm}$ 19.63%, respectively, when conventional instrumentations were used. The results also showed that when the SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL was used, the proportion of the area of removed disk tissue versus that of potentially removable disk tissue and the area of removed disk tissue in the contralateral posterior portion were statistically significantly high (p < 0.001, p < 0.05, respectively). Also, compared to conventional instrumentations, the duration required to complete disk space preparation was shorter, and the frequency of instrument use and the numbers of insertions/withdrawals were lower when the SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL was used. Conclusion : The present study demonstrates that hydrosurgery using the SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL unit allows for the preparation of a greater portion of disk space and that it is less traumatic and allows for more precise endplate preparation without damage to the bony endplate. Furthermore, the SpineJet$^{TM}$ XL appears to provide tangible benefits in terms of disk space preparation for graft placement, particularly when using the unilateral TLIF approach.

The purpose of this study was to decide the proper projection angle that could avoid the superimposition of the petrous portion of temporal bone and posterior clinoid process in cephalometric lateral and basal view of the 10 dry skulls and to analyze the reproducibility of a modified Accurad-100 head holder device from Denar Co. and a cephalostat head holder in 30 transcranial radiographs of the dry skull. The results were obtained as follows: The vertical angle was 24.5±4.1° and the horizontal angle was 3.0 ±5.7°. The distances between arbitrary 3 points which were on the TMJ area were as follows: AB 16.76±0.27㎜, BC 8.79±0.18㎜ in the transcranial radiographs using modified Accurad-100 head holder, AB 29.03±0.14㎜, AC 19.95±0.24㎜, BC 10.08±0.07㎜ in the transcranial radiographs using cephalostat.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cause, size, number, nature and locaton of loose bodies in the knee joint and to describe the proper arthroscopic technique to remae the loose bodies according to the location of them. We retrospectively analysed thirty-three operations of arthroscopic removal of loose bodies from the knee. Eleven males and 22 females were included with average age of 38(range 7-71). Total number of removed loose bodies were more than sixty. The loose bodies were found most commonly at anterior intercondylar notch area. The most common associated pathology was degenerative arthritis. The most common size of loose bodies was in the range of 5mm to 10mm in diameter. The most common nature of loose bodies was osteochondral. The loose bodies located in suprapatellar pouch, medial gutter, lateral gutter. anterior intercondylar notch or posterior intercondylar notch were removed using standard portals such as anteromedial, anterolateral, superomedial and posteromedial portals. The removal of loose bodies located in upper portion of posteromedial or posterolateral compartment were greatly enhanced using posterior trans-septal portal. The proper portals for the visualization and removal of loose bodies were identified according to the location of loose bodies in the knee joint. More skill in the use of the arthroscope is required for the removal of loose bodies than for simple diagnostic arthroscopy.
