UTRA TDD 시스템에서 멀티미디어 트래픽의 동적 채널 할당 및 채널 액세스 매커니즘 (Dynamic Channel Allocation and Channel Access Mechanism of Multimedia Traffic in the UTRA TDD Systems)

  • 개인 휴대 이동통신은 1세대인 아날로그 셀룰러에서 2세대인 디지털 셀룰러 그리고 2.5세대인 PCS를 거쳐 3세대 이동통신 시스템인 IMT-2000으로 발전되어 왔다. 3세대 이전의 이동통신은 음성 위주의 서비스를 고려한 시스템이었으나 그 이후의 이동통신 시스템에서는 멀티미디어 서비스가 핵심 사안으로 부각될 것이다. 현재 음성 트래픽 위주로 고려된 이동통신 시스템에서의 자원 할당 알고리즘은 멀티미디어 트래픽을 지원함에 있어서 트래픽의 성향을 고려하지 못하는 즉, 무선자원을 동적으로 할당해 주지 못하는 문제점을 안고 있다. 본 논문에서는 UTRA TDD 시스템에서 비대칭 트래픽 성항과 멀티미디어 트래픽을 고려한 동적 자원 할당 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 셀 내에서의 트래픽 성향을 파악하여 자원 할당 상태 리스트에 따라 각 셀 내에서의 상향, 하향 링크의 스위칭 포인트를 결정하는 동적 채널 할당 방법과 그로 인해 상향, 하향 스위칭 포인트가 결정된 후 셀에서 발생한 베어러 서비스가 RU(Resource Unit)를 액세스하는 채널 액세스 메커니즘으로 세분화된다. 모의실험 결과 제안한 알고리즘은 비대칭적인 트래픽 성향을 지원할 수 있으며 멀티미디어 트래픽에 대하여 동시 접속 가능한 사용자수와 평균 지연 시간에 있어서 좋은 성능을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다.

베이비부머 가계의 경제구조 및 경제적 만족도 분석 (A Study of the Economic Structure of Baby Boomer Households and the Determinants of Economic Satisfaction in Korea)

  • Recently, Korean baby boomers, which make up approximately 15% of the total population, have begun to retire. Their economic well being is one of Korea's most important social issues. The purpose of this study was to compare the economic structure of baby boomers' households with that of the prior generation, as well as to analyze the determinants of economic satisfaction from the perspective of "work" and "child educational burden." In addition, group comparisons were made regarding economic resource allocation between baby boomers and the prior generation and within baby boomers of different work and child educational burden statuses. Data from the 2nd wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA), including baby boomers and the generation prior to the baby boomers, were used. The major findings were as follows. First, the baby boomers had a different economic structure, level of economic satisfaction, and economic resource allocation when compared to the prior generation. The economic structure of baby boomers in terms of income, expenditure, savings and assets, debts, and trust in policies significantly differed from their counterparts. Second, the determinants of economic satisfaction and the propensity of resource allocation were different depending on whether they worked or had a child educational burden, respectively. Based on these empirical results, policy implications for the future economic well being of baby boomers were provided.

Rate Modulation Strategy for Behaviors of a Mobile Robot

  • In this paper, task control architecture is proposed for a mobile robot with behaviors based on cognition theory to endow the robot intelligence. In the task control architecture, task manager is introduced especially for the management of computational resource. The management is based on classical RMS (Rate Monotonic Strategy), but with online rate modulation strategy. The rate modulation is performed using the value variances of behavior execution for the task. Because the values are based on natively uncertain sensor information, they are modeled using PDF (probability Density Function). As a rate modulation process, the range of the rate modulation is defined firstly by real-time constraints of RMS and discrete control stability of behaviors. With the allowable range, rate modulations are performed considering harmonic bases to maintain utilization bound without decrease. To evaluate the efficiency of the proposed rate modulation strategy, a simulation test is performed to compare the efficiency between the control architecture with the proposed strategy and previous one. A performance index with the formalization of propensity of resource allocation is proposed and utilized for the simulation test. To evaluate the appropriateness of the performance index, the performance index is compared with practical one through a practical simulation test.

Internal Service Recovery's Influence on Frontline Service Employees' Satisfaction and Loyalty

  • Relatively little studies have investigated employee recovery from internal service failure, especially from the employees' perspective. When handling customer complaints, employees must not only deal with legitimate customer demands after a service failure, such as providing an apology, rectifying the problem, and offering compensation, but they must also manage illegitimate dysfunctional customers, who may yell, threaten, and even physically harm the employee. These negative experiences can have strong effects, and employees can exhibit higher levels of stress such as burnout and emotional labor, which have been linked to dissatisfaction, tension and anxiety, reduced performance and effectiveness, and a greater propensity to leave the firm, ultimately leading to negative financial consequences for the firm. These conditions result in internal service failure and create the need to recover employees-in other words, internal service recovery. However, little research has examined this issue so far. The purpose of the current study, therefore, is to investigate the relationship between internal service recovery and employee outcomes. A pre-test, post-test between-subjects experimental design was developed. Participants were 166 part-time students who were working full-time. The average age of the participants was 36.74 years, and 57.50% of them were female. The average length of employment was 13 years. Participants were randomly assigned to one of four groups of approximately equal size. Three of the groups were subjected to an experimental situation involving an internal service failure, while one group was not exposed to failure, thereby acting as a control group. This study contributes to the service marketing literature in several ways. First, the study extends service failure and/or recovery research by examining recovery in an employee context. Second, this study attempts to measure internal service recovery and to empirically demonstrate its relationship to employee outcomes. Third, this investigation emphasizes the managerial importance of internal service recovery. For example, understanding the nature of the relationships between internal service recovery and its consequences can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of managers' resource allocation decisions.

시뮬레이션을 이용한 정보시스템 아키텍쳐 모델링에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Architecture Modeling of Information System using Simulation)

  • 종래의 정보시스템 아키텍쳐 설계는 설계자 개인의 경험을 바탕으로 진행되어 정보시스템의 적절한 자원 배분 활용과 성능 향상에 한계로 작용되어 오고 있다. 개인 경험에 의존한 아키텍쳐 설계는 설계자 경험의 다양성, 관련 업무 및 환경에서의 지식수준, 개인의 성향에 따른 아키텍쳐 품질수준에 많은 차이가 발생한다. 이러한 문제점은 결국 고비용의 하드웨어 자원 낭비라는 결과를 초래한다. 업무 현장에서는 아키텍쳐의 성능 모니터링, 병목구간 발견 및 정보시스템 운영 프로세스 상의 문제점을 발견하고 대응할 목적으로 사후적 모니터링 Tool 들이 다양하게 개발되어 운영되고 있다. 그러나 아키텍쳐 설계 초기에 사전적으로 예측하여 대응하기 위한 시뮬레이션 툴이나 모델들은 거의 없으며, 있더라도 제한적인 모델에서만 적용 가능하다. 이러한 문제점들을 개선하고자 정보시스템 아키텍쳐 설계를 위한 시뮬레이션 모델을 우선 파이롯 형태로 개발, 실험을 통하여 타당성을 검증한다. 실험의 결과 오차율이 허용범위 이내에서 발생되면 시뮬레이션 모델이 현실 세계의 정보시스템 아키텍쳐 특성을 잘 반영하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 향후에 본 개발 모델이 다양하게 활용 가능한 수준으로 개발된다면 그동안 수식계산에 의존해 오던 방식을 벗어나 정확한 성능산정이 가능할 것이고 잘못된 아키텍쳐 설계로 인한 유휴자원의 발생 및 예산낭비를 예방할 수 있다.
