  • Objectives: This study identifies the meaning of walking and its facilitating factors and barriers from the perspective of urban walkers in Seoul. Methods: The participants consisted of twelve people who either lived or worked in Gangnam district of Seoul. The study applied the data collection process featured in the photovoice, in which the participants took photographs and shared their stories through focus group interviews. Results: Walking is regarded as one of the easiest types of physical activity. While walking, participants find mental tranquility, communication opportunities, and a chance to step back from their everyday lives. Facilitating factors include: access to walking-friendly venues and attractive surrounding environments; the participant's assimilation into the surrounding area; having the feeling of ease and relaxation; and friends and family to walk together. Barriers consist of physical factors such as street design and the busy urban streets, insensitive traffic and low civic awareness, and personal situational factors. Conclusions: The benefit of walking exceeds beyond those of physical health promotion. Actions to encourage walking in urban areas should address the multiple meanings perceived by their citizens.

Design/methodology/approach This study has investigated how can marketing strategy be influenced by the price promotion type (immediate discount/delayed discount) and message framing (positive/negative) according to time pressure (low/high). Hypotheses are set through the consideration of prospect theory, endowment effect, framing effect, regulatory-focus theory, and time-pressure theory. Findings The results and interpretation of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the influence of the delayed discount on the purchase intention was larger than the immediate discount. Second, negative/loss frame messages have more influence on purchase intention than positive/profit frame messages. Third, when the price promotion type is delayed discount, the effect of the promotion message on the purchase intention when it presented by negative/loss frame is greater than the other cases. The implication of this study is that it can be used as a basic data for establishing a strategy to maximize the effectiveness of promotions effectively considering potential buyers of mobile commerce environment.

Methods: Data were collected by using self-reported questionnaires from 371 mothers who had a 3-12 year old child with a disability from July 14 to 31, 2008. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis with the SPSS program. Results: There were significant differences on the mothers' caring behavior according to children's negative and hyperactive behavior, mothers' perceived burden, parenting efficacy, and social support. Children's characteristics explained 5.1% of mothers' caring behavior. The power of explanation ($R^2$) was 16.6% by adding mother's characteristics including mother's job, burden, parenting efficacy, satisfaction and stigma, and increased to 23.5% by adding social support. Conclusion: These results showed that mothers' caring behavior for their children's health promotion could be influenced by children's behavior problems, mothers' perception of burden, parenting efficacy, and social support. • Multiple sales promotions for one product can be simultaneously offered. For instance, marketers can offer a premium along with a price discount. In the present research, we primarily focus on offers containing both a bonus pack and a price discount. In particular, this research examines whether consumer evaluations of offers containing both a bonus pack and a price discount (i.e., BP + PD offers) vary according to consumers' saving orientation. Specifically, we predict that for consumers with strong (vs. weak) saving orientation, offers containing the high PD but low extra amount of BP will be more favorably evaluated than offers with a high extra amount of BP but low PD. A series of two experimental results show that consumers' saving orientation moderates their evaluations of BP and PD offers, which supports the prediction. The findings imply that marketers can evoke more positive consumer responses to BP and PD offers, considering individual differences such as saving orientation.

  • The focus of this paper is to critically evaluate the contemporary health promotion policy of g Korea and Japan. The primary purpose of this comparative research project is to stimulate policy debate and to strengthen the design and implementation of evidence-based policies that improve population health and reduce health related disparities. For the purpose of the research object we adopted analysis of health promotion(HP) sources. The HP Source which is still under development in Europe, is a potentially valuable tool for global use. This European Commission funded project lead by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine has brought together organisations from all of the European Union Member States, plus Norway, Iceland, Latvia, Switzerland and the Czech Republic to contribute their data. The findings of this research will be conclude by making recommendations for further comparative studies and in particular how EUHPID and the HP Source tool and database can be expanded for use at global level through the IUHPE. The result as follows: 1. The Health Promotion Act enacted 1995 in Korea and 2000 in Japan. The government has a national document on HP titled Health Plan 2010 and Healthy Korea 2010 in Korea and Healthy Japan 21 in Japan. 2. The Health Plan 2010 of Korea contains 14 goals, i.e. life expectancy, smoking, nutrition, mental health, dental health, reproductive health, hypertension, cerebrovascular diseases, arthritis, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. It should be emphasized that the Korean HP national document adds 3 goals of health expectancy, reproductive health, and arthritis to its Japanese counterpart. Health Plan 2010 of Korea specifies 37 objectives in 14 goals, and Healthy Japan 21 proposes 48 objectives and 80 targets in 9 goals. 3. Health Plan 2010 and Healthy Japan 21 have not been evaluated yet, and no regular systematic monitoring reporting of HP policies is available in Korea and Japan yet. 4. National Health Promotion Fund is a financial source of HP programs at the national level in Korea. Its annual amount is 736 billion Won(equivalent to approximately 640 million US$), otherwise no specific Health Promotion Fund in Japan.
