The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of voice disorders and the Korean voice handicap index in the elderly. For this study, 169 elderly performed two types of questionnaires and vowel /a/ prolongation. Self-reported voice symptoms and the Korean voice handicap index were analyzed and acoustic voice evaluation was performed by MDVP. The results showed that the prevalence of voice disorders in the elderly are significantly higher than that of adults in self-reports. In acoustic evaluation, 32.2% of the male elderly and 40.9% of the female elderly exceeded the thresholds of Jitter (%), Shimmer (%) and NHR. In addition, Korean voice handicap index scores of the female elderly are significantly higher than those of female adults. These findings indicate the high frequency of voice disorders in the elderly and the need to focus on this group. Additional studies on the voice related quality of life for the elderly are needed.

There are various kinds of patterns on Li brocade textile of Hainan province in China. Those patterns are rich and colorful. Li (黎族) traditional brocade is an ancient exquisite craftsmanship and a world cultural heritage. This study analyzed and categorized Li brocade pattern of traditional Chinese textiles. Li (黎族) traditional brocade is an ancient exquisite craftsmanship. Based on the research of classifications of Li brocade patterns, expound the application of women's costume. The patterns of Li brocade textile of Hainan province analyzed through three levels: design transforming, meaning prolongation, and refining spirit. The patterns were explored the feasibility way to inherit the patterns of Li brocade for the modern fashion product design. The results showed that Li brocade textile pattern of Hainan province were images sourced from local environment and geographical terrain. They contained the nation's history memory, religion, hope for life of the Li nationality. Those patterns can be categorized as human figure pattern, animal pattern, geometric pattern, appliance or architecture pattern, and Chinese character pattern.

By using the method of equivalence of E. Cartan we calculate the local scalar invariants for Riemannian 2-maniolds. We define also a notion of local invariants for submanifolds in $R^{n + d}, n \geq 2, d \geq 1$, in terms of the symmetry of the local isometric embedding equations of Riemannian n-manifolds into $R^{n + d}$. We show that the local invariants obtained by the Cartan's method are the intrinsic expressions of the local invariants in our sense in the casees of surfaces in $R^3$.

In this paper, electron drift velocity is experimentally measured in SF$_{6}$+N$_{2}$ Gas by induced cur-rent method and quantitaive production of electron transport coefficient is calculated by backward-prolongation of Boltzmann equation. Then electron energy distribution function and attachment coefficients are calculated. This paper can use the electron drift velocity by experimentally and the electron transport coefficient by calculated as a basic data of mixed Gas by comparing and investigating.g.

Ziprasidone is equally effective as haloperidol in treating schizophrenia with fewer side effects and drug interactions. Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic agent and works by blocking serotonin and dopamine receptors in the central nervous system, specifically 5-HT2A and D2 receptors. Low anticholinergic side-effects and low EPS would recommend the drug for use in the elderly. Ziprasidone inhibits reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin at neurojunction sites in vitro, indicating a potential efficacy for depression and negative symptoms which often follow after exacerbation of schizophrenia. Patients with recent acute myocardial infarction and uncompensated heart failure are contraindicated to the drug due to a possibility of QT prolongation. Although ziprasidone is metabolized by cytochrome P450 3A4, there is no significant drug interaction with the drugs that induce or inhibit the isoenzyme. Ziprasidone is safe with coadministration of lithium and there has been no significant drug interaction reported with oral birth control pills.

During the biological screening of Chinese drugs, it was found that alcoholic extract of the roots of Patrinia scabiosaefolia (Valerianaceae) caused a significant prolongation of hexobarbital-induced sleeping time and elevation of serum transaminase activities accompanied by severe histopathological changes in the hepatic tissues in mice on three day pretreatments. The systematic fractionation of the methanol extract monitoring by bioassay led to isolation of toxic saponins such as $3-O-{\alpha}-{_L}-arabinopyranosyl$ hederagenin $28-O-{\beta}-{_D}-glucopyranosyl\;(1{\rightarrow}6)-{\beta}-{_D}-glucopyranoside$ and its 2'-acetate and $3-O-{\beta}-{_D}-glucopyranosyl\;(1{\rightarrow}3)-{\alpha}-{_L}-rhamnopyranosyl\;(1{\rightarrow}2)-{\alpha}-{_L}-arabinopyranosyl$ oleanolic acid and its $28-O-{\beta}-{_D}-glucopyranosyl\;(1{\rightarrow}6)-{\beta}-{_D}-glucopyranoside$.

We had experienced a case of pericarditis associated with Mycoplasma and Salmonella co-infection. This 5-year old boy presented with high fever and generalized tonic-clonic seizure. The diagnosis was based on the markedly increased serial titer of Widal test and cold agglutinin with Mycoplasma indirect hemmagglution test during hospitalization. The electrocardiogram revealed P-R interval prolongation and an echocardiogram revealed moderate pericardial effusion. The patient treated with ceftriaxone and erythromycin for 2 weeks, and responded to the treatment well. We report this case with brief review of the related literatures.

A 2-year-old female Pekingese dog was presented with primary complaints including exercise intolerance and neurological sign associated with hepatic encephalopathy. The major findings in clinical examination included an intermittent seizure, a slow heart rate with pulse deficit, leukocytosis and anemia in hemogram, elevated pre- and post-prandial serum bile acid and hepatic enzymes, hypoproteinemia, coagulopathy, ammonium urate crystaluria and bilirubinuria. Diagnostic tests revealed an intrahepatic portosystemic shunt complicated with a second degree atrioventricular block and QT prolongation. The case was successfully treated with a transvenous coil embolization. Clinical signs were gradually improved and cardiac bradyarrhythmia disappeared. This case is a rare case of intrahepatic portosystemic shunts complicated with a cardiac bradyarrhythmia in a small breed dog fixed by a transvenous coil embolization.

Unpreparedness of the maintenance regulations is regarded as the main reason for the short life span of the multi-owned commercial residential buildings. This study suggests that the followings should be prepared for the effective maintenance and life prolongation of the multi-owned commercial residential buildings : 1) Standard maintenance regulations for those buildings should be set up, 2) Building maintenance works should be performed by the specialists, like licensed building manager, mechanical and electrical engineers, etc., 3) Long-range repair expenses should be laid by on the monthly base according to the long-range repair plan, 4) Regulations concerning the defect repair should be provided properly.
