It was investigated on this paper that the status of biomass energy utilization in the registered CDM projects. The ratio of the case including the energy recovery among the registered biomass CDM projects is just about 57%. Direct thermal conversion technology is the most commonly applied for biomass energy recovery projects. Through the comparative study with world renewable energy outlook, the contribution of CDM to biomass energy supply in the world is not considerable yet.

Concept of conflict management system and necessity of introducing it into the executing process of public projects have been subjects of any previous studies. Those systems are, however, not practically applicable to rail projects given the unique nature of rail industry. In this context, the author presented cases of conflicts emerged during the process of the Gyung bu High Speed Rail Construction Project and mapped out realistic case study applicable to construction sites.

On average, small business support projects appear to improve beneficiary sales, and the growth effect is obvious when supporting young or growing firms. However, the effect is largely offset by sales reductions due to overcrowding. Small business support projects must be operated in two ways to alleviate the overcrowding of businesses in a few industries and to enhance the overall effectiveness of the support programs.

This paper describes and effective teaching approach to an undergraduate database course. This research draws on practical experience based on the hands-on practice approach which leads students to develop a database application utilizing various tools. Students not only learn concepts, methodologies and tools of database technology in class and through online multimedia learning aids, but also practice how to integrate them through collaborative team projects. The course employs collaborative learning approach and multimedia and internet technologies. Students are encouraged to work collaboratively on assignments and projects and to learn independently through online multimedia learning aids.

Construction schedule plays a key role in project management due to its influence on the project success. Thus, it is important to identify factors affecting construction delay. The major objective of this study is to identify and evaluate factors affecting construction delay in apartment projects in Vietnam. The findings confirmed that financial difficulties of owners and contractors, contractors without adequate experience, non-available materials on time, slow site clearance, inappropriate construction methods, defective works and reworks, and lack of capable owners/project managers are the major causes of delay in apartment projects.

In this paper, we reviewed the evaluation methodologies of railway project considering the benefit incidence. Generally railway projects are much more reduced tile energy consumption, traffic accident and environmental pollution than road projects. But conventional B/C analysis of railway project does not measured including those benefits. Also there is a few attention to an incidence of benefits producing from railway construction. So we developed the evaluation method of railway project contained the railway oriented benefits and also considered of the benefit incidence producing from railway construction.

This paper shares our project management experience in the 2 large-scale projects in managing a diverse international project team of consultants and managing in a foreign land. The first part introduces the two projects, second part addresses management of the projects and the last portion presents some of the challenges we experienced and highlights the importance of understanding the peculiarities of the operating environment, their norms, cultures, effectiveness and limitations of conventional project management tools while operating in a foreign country.

For international projects in general and the projects in the Gulf area in Particular, the most common cause of construction disputes and claims is construction delay. This paper will present different surveys to identify the causes of delay, the parties responsible, and how delay can be avoided. This paper will outline how these factors impact damage assessment and entitlement. Furthermore, a case study will be presented to show how the responsibility and damages due to delay are assessed and how entitlements are calculated.

Soft engineering, based on symbiotic coexistence of human, machines and environment, is a new engineering field to explore the proper technology and the proper way of engineering. To explore soft engineering intents easily, various robot projects at Pusan National University conducted are presented. Thought experiment, interactive e-leaning, rapid prototyping engineering, biomimciry, tangibility, and ubiquity are concepts to be explored. Thought experiments projects are organized and performed, which include robot assembly game, Turing test, and robotics in science fiction. "Junk robot project" and "ubiquitous Pusan National University (u-PNU) project" have been organized. Also, bug robot project, interactive robot project, and interactive emotional robot projects are introduced. Weekly science fiction films are shown and discussed.

This study compared and analyzed the job importance that site managers perceived by dividing the study scope into customized and expansion remodeling projects and deriving the job descriptions from previous studies. As a result, a total of 7 construction stages and 53 job descriptions were derived. As job importance in customized remodeling projects, removal and demolition works were the most important, followed by preliminary survey, and repair and reinforcement works. In addition, as job importance in expansion remodeling projects, preliminary survey is the most important, followed by civil engineering work, and repair and reinforcement works. It is considered that the job importance of the remodeling projects derived in this study will contribute to improving their job efficiency in the future.
